A Tour of Eastbourne at Christmas – it surprised me!

hello and welcome to day five of my vlogmas and I’ve saved the best till last uh we are today in eastborn in East Sussex currently on the pier and uh what we’re going to do is we’re going to head into town have a look around and see how festive eastborn is um just course we’re on the pier show you some of the views looking back into town all of these uh hotels just off the pair quite a windy day but I’ve got the wind Slayer on so hopefully you’ll be able to hear me okay so over in that direction we’ve got uh the Seven Sisters famous Cliffs and the southdowns national park so as we head into town just run you through some facts about uh eastborn so eastborn is the gateway to Britain’s newest National Park the South DS and also hosts the award-winning airborne the largest free air show in Europe uh it’s also hosts the International Lawn Tennis and uh goes out to 25 million viewers globally and attracts 55,000 visitors annually according to the Met Office eastborn is the sunniest place in the UK 31.4% of the population of eastborn is under the the age of 30 years old and the average age is 45 years old eastborn has the UK’s only five-star Seaside Hotel the much loved Grand hotel eastborn has also appeared in blockbuster movies including Harry Potter James Bond The Living Daylights bright and rock ma in dagm Pearl Barbor Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Diana to name a few eastborn has featured in great television shows including the crown prro the lives and loves of a she devil Little Britain foils War Miss marle Top Gear and that Mitchell and web look and it also has the UK’s busiest Bandstand just off in that direction uh Sovereign Harbor is the largest man-made Marina in Europe Natalie and Brer Katy manuga have both recorded music at Echo Zoo studios in eastborn along with other famous musicians eastborn attracts 5.46 million visitors a year and tourism supports 28% of all of the jobs in eastborn eastborn was the most bombed Seaside town in England during World War II they used beachy head as their landmark and nearly 4,000 bombs fell on the town uh interestingly Hitler ordered that the Grand Hotel shouldn’t be bombed in case he wanted to stay there after he conquered the town and lastly there are Roman remains that are beneath the town there’s a Roman bath along with a section of pavement between East BN pier and the rout Fortress just over there so one of uh the interesting things we’ve just walked past is the Victorian t rooms it’s not open so I can’t go in and show you around and so what we’ll do is we’ll uh head into town and have a look and see how christmy eastborn is that’s great to see that they’ve decorated the pier Christmas trees that’s how Hipp and got some uh Christmas t up in here as well have to say East warm here was better than I expected uh Brighton now charge you a pound to enter the pier this’s still free there is some amusements on there obviously some uh things for the kids to do as well so if you are coming to eastn uh definitely want to tick that one off your list um but before we go into town just want to head off to the Grand Hotel and just get a have a quick look at that before we head in and do our festive shopping if the Grand Hotel is as Grand as it says it is I’m sure the Christmas decorations are going to be fantastic so this is the Grand Hotel in East born Grand it is swim pool there so it’s smaller than I thought it was but still Grand Saunders Fowler bur DEA Hunty bucking him spearing Watson there’s no space for exploring Sussex but if you guys like And subscribe enough then we’ll head back and we’ll stay a night at the Grand Hotel so if you’re coming to East born the station right next to the town center it’s the beacon shopping center and uh got a Wither spoon or weather spoon however you canoun it [Music] Opposite but the very next day you Beed away save I’ll [Music] thank you thank you so much thank you so this is the beacon shopping mall let’s head in have a look inside looking good already we got some Christmas lights on the uh entrance coming in we do and More in here as well spectacular Christmas tree yeah this looks like a good uh shopping center illuminated angel yeah got some little bit here for the kids to play it must be made just for me yeah it must be made just for me wow if you’re looking for Primark we got a Primark here marks and spener food so far looks like a great mall mankind Works claes some more play things here for the kids to play on you bring in the kids see many lushes around these days another Christmas tree lights display a bom Marsh dman perfume shop yeah definitely got plenty of shops in this place here HMV where a blast in the past isn’t it oh start to get uh busy in here now got much bigger kit stuff over here is it Gregs get in any British town but yeah it’s all kid stuff in chest next door to Smiggle calendar Club bar fragrance shop and a River Island Christmas lights wow so far this has been my most Christmasy shopping wall and crispy Crome can another Christmas tree down by the toilets yet another one by the cinema so upstairs in this shopping mall we’ve got a cinema C world what Che to the restaurant open today Jamaican blue come across one of those before breakfast brunch and lunch the gift company Flying Tiger got have a quick look around Flying Tiger isn’t we [Music] he [Music] he [Music] rituals sent sent shop sketches you look there’s C world at the top there oh stuff for kids to play on this um this mall is almost like one of the American malls where they often have kids play entertainment equipment in the center it’s just cuz it’s a bit more modern than other ones what is this is we got have a quick look in here we [Music] to right head out to the High Street sign there saying thank you for visiting the beacon so that coming out of the beacon shopping center we’re now going to head in this direction down the old High Street and uh does look like a very old High Street obviously modern below but uh you look above the the tops and you got these very old shops um looks pedestrian or now maybe not there a bus headed down but uh partly pedestrianized got all your favorite uh food Outlets here whal Starbucks Metro Bank that’s some kids rides down here as well ah well I think East born has done us proud looks like there is a Christmas Market uh this uh n West Bank is fantastic isn’t it and the bar too oh and HSBC looks like all three of them are trying to outdo each other in terms of grandness look at that another Christmas tree they’ve got their Christmas lights on which is uh a plus for me well it doesn’t look like a Christmas Market might CU be lucky I got it on the day where the traditional Market is down but markets in susex a gym on a Wednesday that amazing building there Super Stone here or Portland s funded and volunteer donation by his grace the Duke of deip Randon Hotel chocolate I think we’ve seen that before we I believe that I but I’m covered in this I’m when we’re getting dirty I forget all that is WR I sleep so I can see you cuz I hate to so long I sleep so I can see cuz I hate to so long oh that’s a blast from the past millets haven’t seen a millets in years but they still exist in some more unusual shops here May bugs and come across this uh describes itself as beautiful things for fabulous people let’s going to have a look around inside wow May bugs was fantastic but uh let’s continue to explore look at look at this fantastic old building deim um deim if you’re not local to England or to susex where a massive uh department store quite famous went Bast unfortunately but their buildings were always amazing structures like this 1911 that’s one I think P Street goes off in that direction but uh just wanted to have a quick look at this old Cinema it’s some better days isn’t it unfortunately and for those of you in my Tik Tok lives that have been asking for Turkish Barbers well that looks like the eastborn Turkish Barbers Let’s uh head down here we can dodge getting run over [Music] amazing High R this one isn’t it or amazing probably amazing uh 20 or 30 years ago but as high streets go seems to be surviving quite well although now that uh Shopping Center’s been popped in at M kill the High Street here we find the charity shops and gambling shops so I think we may have seen the best of the High Street see a Christmas tree down there in the distance super in tap Cafe this well the architecture particularly Grand in East born so this uh building here now looks like it’s being used by lots of many different businesses but if I remember rightly this used to be the Army and Navy Store correct me if I’m wrong but this was the I think the one and only time I came to eastborn prior to this I remember going into the Army and Navy Store so looks like uh we got some more sort of random shops over there and then that heads off to the Oldtown right so it turns out they lied it’s not the sunniest place in the UK just got absolutely drenched doing a Tik Tok live but uh found this little shopping center here Enterprise it’s very Charming so we’ll have a quick look through here before we finish up the the Vlog Christmas lights up around just hear the uh music in the background hoping that’ll be okay and we won’t get a copyright strike if that’s the case I might have to mute this part of the video not great some lights up there nauy is that a nauy Elf or a good elf I don’t know an elf down there anyway you got this here that we are we ready let’s go here we go Christmas tree there there’s an upstairs dare I pop up there and have a look this is cute isn’t it look at this this beats the gilborn center in woring there’s a little upstairs section there and you uh head upstairs there and instantly Rec correct your [Music] decision L A Christmas F like I said hopefully we don’t get a copyright strike from coming up here I spotted this earlier but didn’t know what it what it was but what spoted is they uh have a Christmas Market here right here we haven’t seen that in any of the towns we’ve visited yet a nice rink on there little cabins there at skar waffles Disney kingdom brilliant and the sun’s come back out so all good so I’m going to end the Vlog up here really enjoyed my little trip to eastborn hope you’ve enjoyed it too if you could take the time to to
