David Lieb is a Professional Slopestyle who competes at FMB tour events across the world. In 2019 Dave won the US Open and today we are lucky enough to be following him down the jump trails at Highland Mountain bike park in New Hampshire. Highlands is one of the best bike parks in America and is definitely worth the trip if you’re on the east coast.

Following A Pro Slopestyle Rider Down Highland Mountain! | David Lieb
Mountain Biker Chases A Pro Rider Down A Bike Park
#Mountainbiking #BikePark #highlandmountain
should i blow these kids minds right now am i following you off this sir sure we are at highland mountain lake park one of my favorite mountain bike parks in the world and i have a special guest we are riding with dave lieb who you might know because he’s been in some of my previous videos he’s a fantastic soap style rider he’s one of the smoothest riders i know on a bike but not only that he’s also a gt fellow rider and one of the nicest people i know so without further ado let’s jump on the lift and let’s get to riding all right this is my beast of the day i’m riding my force 29 which actually didn’t show at all last year but i had it and uh it’s a good rig but this is my first time at a bike park with it so i’m sure the suspension could use a little tweaking and uh yeah let’s get to it they’re throwing me off everything’s different usually just that’s a good one nice and long get the muscles flying now that i’m older i actually have to pay attention to that stuff so i should say well david is a silvestad rider he does have a little bit of a background in downhill racing too very well-rounded background in bmx before that oh that’s a new one nice seat bounce right there where was he going dude where were you going with that like you landed so far flat i had this weird fascination with just sending things to flat lately the whistler effect so oh that’s a new one was that it got a one foot table or a neck oh it was a baby nap it’s good so when you do a soap star run do you find yourself deviating from like do you have like a set plan that you’re gonna do this trick on this uh jump this trick on this one do you ever deviate from that before the event starts i usually try to formulate a pretty good plan on what i’m gonna do and i at this point in my career i have a pretty good idea on what it’s gonna take to reach the podium or reach my goal whatever that may be always have a plan and then have a backup plan as well for what you’re gonna do once you’re in your run two years ago you won the us open correct right and in the middle of the run somewhere over there you threw like a little bar spin off a non-feature was that planned that was that was something i didn’t practice instincts took over and for some reason i threw a bar spin and it worked out great it was fun because i kept my nerves down and when you keep your nerves down that’s what keeps it fun that kind of reminds me of uh my experience with downhill racing when you’re having the most fun you tend to do the best yeah 100 if you’re all stressed out and worried you’re gonna ride funky and then if you are having fun you’re gonna ride good what about upper happy hour or something or do you want to do something more advanced wow i didn’t think he didn’t lose any more dirt that one like rocky turn has gone a rockier no dirt i could be wrong but i thought that used to be a uh a green it’s like oh definitely it’s listed as like a beginner level trail but that part’s gnarly especially if it gets wet oh yeah they uh they touched up dual solemn course okay so fun i forgot how this goes wow that’s the tightest turn in the world okay i’ve been liking od full odb so they don’t call this the granite state for no reason yeah i kind of remember this piece [Applause] i’ve been liking that steep part though where it hooks a lot they added some dirt in the right place to make that turn more possible thinking i mean we could cruise power hour yeah it’s the one trail here that like the jumps kind of scare me because i don’t do them that often they’re really lift up right now so just like stay loose i might actually slow my rebound down just a click you keep a little adjuster tool with you i keep a multi-tool on me at all times should i blow these kids minds right now i’m just gonna do a little backflip just a little all right i’ll give you some space oh yeah you can follow close if you want doesn’t bother me that’s funny i heard the kids like oh my gosh freaking out my days of flipping i think are like reserved to really good dirt jumps or rezzy ramps i’ve gotten some bad habits i’ve gotten me in all trouble back at that turn that he kind of cut and gapped you linked it up right into another lip on the right-hand side yeah i’ve been doing the there’s a little burm gap for years but that little rock stuff off there’s something i discovered a couple days ago i i consider myself pretty good at gaps but if there’s anyone who can definitely outgun me in that department it’s you like some of the stuff that you’ve pulled at uh ray’s mountain bike park like the amount of speed you have to carry into those gaps absolutely insane yeah raise is one of those special places though where i’ve spent so many hours on my bike there it’s almost like i have the cheat codes yeah what if we do the top of fancy piece i love the top of fancy and then we’ll cruise into cats it’s like three jumps and i’m through the whole section oh that’s a bubble up there when you’re coming out of the woods you know you have have that like rock that you kind of like caught on inside and jump on to okay i think we could pop off that and go to the roots like five feet deeper well maybe like one of our next locks oh i’ll follow you okay yeah we should do it maybe just cat scratch let’s do that cat’s paw peter jamison is the absolute master of that trail now i feel like i found like every single gap that i could in this so-style uh like field how many how many do you think are actually making a full-time living being a social rider i don’t to be honest i don’t think that many people are making a crazy living being a slope style rider i think what a lot of them do is you have to branch out you can’t limit yourself just to slope style like if you ride trails if you’re ride downhill if you can create videos you’re good at social media those are all skills that play into like whether you can make a career out of it and if you just ride slope style i don’t think that’s enough but you have to be able to market yourself in multiple ways to the whole mountain bike industry like and it’s it’s really cool tool because you can engage with your fans and with your friends in there on there and like you can build a better connection more easily with a wider audience i think so it’s really cool how it worked out but there’s also something to be said about like real human connection too i think which is cool like coming to highland you get to interact with people face to face which i really liked i am what’s up man are you really i am to meet you man yeah you too that’s a sweet bike you got there yeah thanks right on man have a good one do some a-lining all right so let me just uh we got a new member in the squad would you like to introduce yourself hi guys i’m nick fix i’m 24 years old i’m from michigan grew up riding with david come from bmx originally and now i’m on the bigger wheels hitting bigger jumps all right so i have not seen the lower part of this it’s good no no it’s sick this year should we want to leave this out all right so i’ve not ridden this yet oh yeah it’s so fun and that the next part of it was open last fall it was amazing i’m gonna try to hit that little double double one yeah i want like i gotta i gotta remember i was gonna go for this triple down here is that what you’re going for i did it the other day and like i made it but it’s so big and into like a really tight turn yeah the turn is not even the issue with my head is going through like 12 branches i was telling him i don’t know if you’d be down on cat’s paw there’s so many lines where you can just cross and do this with everybody i i i personally love cat spa because there’s so many gaps i like jumping the potato chips and stuff some new lines to me oh apologize to trail crew right now dude that was wild i saw it coming i’m like i got this i’m like nope oh not even close i’m getting progressively worse we were going to ride catspaw i i might try that line that i told you about switchback section you have to tight turns in that inside line if you go off that i think you can get to the embankment a little bit past it okay do you want to leave or maybe just do it behind me or i’ll try behind you okay i think i know what you’re talking about i’ll look for it that’s not what i’ve seen whoa oh that’s a case oh my god i’m exhausted that was massive dude i looked back to see what you’re doing wow my head was in the trees did it did you get it clean perfect so sick it didn’t send it i i’ve never seen it before until the last the run before did you hit that too thanks man what that was ridiculous right great video what’s up man i’m ready whenever okay see you can clear this from here it is what’s up man all right let’s see if i’m in the right gear i might be too big let’s do it all right oh yeah too easy you [Music] best seat in the house there are so many sneaky little cut-throughs boy first slope rounds of the year first slope of the past five years yeah just if you are following me over that big one after the drop it’s big so just like beware it pops you i assume i haven’t even hit it i don’t even know what to expect i’d say just the corner is probably a little soft maybe but we should be good all right yeah i’ll give you guys do it let’s do it i’m going up over there hi i have not hit this in a very long time especially since they redone it apparently the jump after the turn is scary that was a good error whew what is this i definitely felt like i went a little long on that big step up yeah but it has like a good landing yeah that that felt really good i’m stoked on how it’s running this year so i just noticed uh my zip ties fell off so if my bike was rattling ground that was a noise today a little bit too late now all right that was an absolute sick day i’m really glad i came out here it’s been a while since i’ve gotten a chance to ride a bike park and kind of open it up and uh just getting to ride at a little faster pace than i do at my local trail so it was a lot of fun especially riding this bike which i haven’t spent a lot of time on anyway thanks for watching my name is phil metz and i’ll see you guys next time peace

spread the gospel
Had to immediately go hunt down the video of David's winning run. Love it!
Oh man I was wondering if there were any good parks here in NH and all of a sudden half the park videos i'm being recommended are Highland. Nice.
What bike park is this?
thats how good i wanna be. Like "wanna shock them/ motivate them" make them feel amazed and so on, its just amazing feeling probably
Davids riding is so smooth
good!
CRAZY TRAILS MAN! LOVED THE VIDEO
I just started mtb, curious about when you get air, you seem to kick the back out right or left most times, is that neccessary or just for fun?
Social Media has played a major part in the MTB community's understanding of technological growth inside the MTB industry.
that pro rider said that there was 3 jumps i counted 14
Your riding is so good I was just wondering where this was
great video and you just did everything he did
So darn envious of the level of infrastructure you have over there. Sure is the land of opportunity…love it. We have a dirty, rocky, horrible little crack track here that we have to share with walkers until the government gets its way and shuts it down, to 'protect the rare fungus' or some other way to knock the fun out of us.
Your riding style is a treat to watch
where is this bike park it looks amasing
Why do you turn your handlebars when you jump and then turn them back
Got any tips for a new rider getting my new bike this Saturday
Style overload 🤙🏻
I just got the next generation force 29 comp. Sick bike!!!
Dude makes it all look so effortless, can take the smallest stuff and make it big. So pro.
Highlands I love it ❤
