Tried r/bikewrench, but no luck there.
The headset on my 2020 Canyon Grail (hoverbar) has quite a bit of play. Looking at it from the side there seems to be a gap between the spacers and the frame. Am I missing a thin spacer or washer? Or is it just about tightening things up?
I've tried loosening stem bolts, (over) tightening top cap, tightening stem bolts – with no success. I've also tried taking the top cap off and loosening/tightening the bolt underneath (compression plug)? Learnt the hard way what happens if you loosen it too much. Immediately after these steps, the play is still the same.
I've seen from a previous post that carbon paste is recommended for the stem, but I can't even get it tight while in the stand, so I don't think it's the stem bolts slipping.
