Here we have the underground bins on Fargate. Now I’m starting to wonder if this is the end game with the bins that they’re only putting fences at either end because you can still walk up to it and trip on the metal bits. If the metal bits have been flush with the ground, you’d have never tripped on them in the first place. I’m not even sure if they’re operational yet because they were waiting for lifting equipment and vehicles to do it, but the council refused to provide a breakdown of costs for these underground bins. Can they tell me why or can anybody tell me why?

  1. They'll be a company selling this crap to the council making lots and lots and lots of cash.. then it turns out the council don't even use this stuff and they spent all this millions of pounds on crap that they don't use. But the guy selling this rubbish will be rubbing his hands together looking for his next contract

  2. Do you know how regular they will be emptied? Once a month ? Once a fortnight?

Surely cost a fortune compared to normal commercial bins at back of shops and businesses

  3. It all looks filthy and ugly. This was caused by turning offices above Fargate into bedsits for migrants. These waste disposal units were not on the artist's impressions.

  4. Hideous looking things and look awful and sinister looking. Why are they so close together? Surely litter bins should be more spaced like one at the top of Fargate other in the middle of Fargate and one at the bottom of Fargate. Stupid and ridiculous! 🙄

  5. Fargate has been absolutely ruined. It's one of the reasons I left Sheffield and now live in Scotland. The barking mad council spent millions, brought highly skilled Italians over to install beautiful granite stone paving. There were nice seats under beautiful trees, live music buskers. Very pleasant. They have now ripped everything out and replaced it with cheap looking blocks, hideous bins and the place looks like a ghetto. It's like they can't waste money fast enough.

  6. Town centre modernisation vanity projects need to be binned. Invest in insulating all residential council tenants homes instead.
