Guys and girls, welcome back to the channel. I’m back at Into Moto and I’ve got another little cracker for you. I’ve just been in and my eyes were drawn to something. Well, you know what it is. Let’s just cut to it. [Music] Here we’ve got Vesper’s GTS125. Now, this is an older bike. It’s a 2012 bike, so it’s got some years behind it, but it looks absolutely stunning. What we’ll do, we’ll have a look around the usual way. I’ll throw some specs at you as we’re going, and then of course, I’ll take it for a ride. We’ll see how it performs. But I am looking forward to this one. And there’s quite a few reasons why. So, stay with me for that. So, let’s start off with the full walkound so you can see it from all angles. very nice. At the front there’s a 220 mm disc. Exactly the same on the back. Currently on the center stand, but there is also a side stand. As you can see, it’s got the walk through. It’s Yeah, these bikes are just so easy to get on and off even while it’s on the center stand. Oh, so I’m flat foot both sides. I’m 5’8 with a 29 in inseam. And yeah, I’m flat foot, but only just seat height on this is 790 mm. But again, because you’ve got quite a big seat area, if you are taller, you can just push yourself back a bit in the seat. You can see how much the you can push back. Probably a good 10 in if not more to be fair. Now, when I do that, I’m on my tiptoes, but it does create a little bit more leg room. So, the taller rider will go to the back, shorter rider to the front, in which case I’ve got a little bit of bend in the knee and I’m flat foot. So, yeah, it will suit people of bigger and shorter heights. What I can confirm is the seat is lovely and comfortable and the foot position. Yeah, I’ve got loads of room. So, yeah, it’s good. Nice and easy to get on and off. And I’ll put it on the side stand. You’ve got your bag hook so you can put a bag between your legs. So, you’ve got that. Let’s have a look under the seat. Nice bit of unders seat storage there as well. I didn’t expect that. Some of these bikes you just end up with a fuel tank, but you’ve got a nice deep bit of storage there. Let me grab a helmet and see if I can get one to fit in that. I’ve just borrowed this HJC helmet from inside. £99. Absolute steal. There’s the problem though with any fullface helmet. Scooters always do seem to struggle with a fullface helmet, don’t they? This one is not fitting in. The helmet is too wide to go in there. A smaller helmet may well fit in there, but a full face one does not. But I would always look at these as just somewhere to put a couple of shopping bags maybe. But I did forget to mention while I was under here. So you have got access to your fuel tank under the seat and this carries 9.2 L of fuel which pretty big. Okay, let’s talk engine specs. So this has got a 125cc. It’s a four- stroke. It’s got single cylinder and it is liquid cooled. Now the power for this has actually blown me away to be fair. It’s a scooter that has 14.9 horsepower. It is right on the limit of what is now accepted legally for a 125. So I’m expecting good things from this. This is pretty much on par power power-wise with the 125 sports bikes, which is blown my mind. So, yeah, I’m expecting very good things from this. Looking forward to taking it out for a spin. As I showed when I sat on it, there is loads of movement there. Yes, there is a raised bit for a rear pillion should you want to take one. But the front part, yeah, you’ve got loads of wiggle room as I showed you to uh shuffle back or go forwards depending on how tall you are. If however, you did decide to take someone on the back. So, if you’re not a learner on the back, there is a grab handle for anybody wanting to uh not give you a cuddle while you’re riding. And there are some foot pegs that pop out just like that. Buttons are just very typical of a bike of this style. You’ve got your horn, you’ve got your indicators, there’s a high and low beam, and on the other side you have got your engine start and engine cutff. So fairly basic as far as that goes. And screen. Again, it’s an older bike. So, you’ve got your old school speedo. You’ve got kilometers on the outside, miles perph on the inside. This is showing a 14,429. That will be in kilometers. I’ve also got a fuel gauge, engine temperature, and then your warning lights at the top. It does look like a brand new bike, and considering it’s what’s that, 2012. So, it’s 13 years old and it just looks absolutely amazing. Now, I’ve said numerous times the 300 GTS is possibly my favorite scooter of all time, and I know they’re not the most practical bikes in the world, but there’s just something about them. It does have a little screen. Now, I’ve seen these bikes or I’ve seen the the 300 versions where the screens are huge. This one, I think it looks better, but as far as practicality goes, uh, with it being a little bit shorter, we’ll see how that affects the the wind protection, it’s big enough that you should get some decent protection, but it’s obviously not going to be as good as the really high ones. I forgot to mention weight. Always forget something. So, remind me in the comments if I’ve forgotten anything else. But weight on this is 158 kg. So, for a scooter, I would say it’s fairly heavy. For a 125, it’s light, but some scooters can be less than 100 kg just to give you a bit of uh comparison to someone else. uh let me think something like the Suzuki address for instance is around the 100 kilogram mark. So you can see this is a lot heavier than that. So what I’m going to do I’ll take it off the side stand and I’m just going to turn it around just to see how easy it is to do that. And I’m not like these guys that work at Inu Moto where they can just get a bike and they literally like push it around like yeah it they handle the bikes all day. So they do it without even trying. I don’t do it all day. So we’ll see how easy I can do it. Certainly feeling it when you’re wheeling it uphill and the car park here. It’s not perfectly flat. It’s not like a a really steep hill or anything, but you do notice when you’re on the flat bit and when you’re on the uphill bit, but it’s easy enough. I mean, certainly when you’re used to bigger bikes, it’ll feel really light, but compared to the really light scooters, you notice the weight a little bit. Now is the time, the fun bit. I’m going to take the bike for a ride. It is really busy around Warrington today. There are road works everywhere, which means there’s traffic everywhere. So, I’m going to experience what this bike is like with a bit of traffic and filtering and everything else. And hopefully I can find somewhere where I can open it up as well and we can see what the performance is like because I need to see 14.9 horsepower in a 125cc scooter. Sounds like it’s going to be fun. But is it? Let’s go and find out. Oh, did I tell you the price? I can’t remember. Anyway, I’ll give you the price. £2,199. That is what this is up for sale for at In Moto. And looking around the bike, it looks like a new bike. So, yeah, let’s see if it rides as good as it looks. Let’s go. Yeah. All sentimental about these Vespers. And I’ve never actually ever owned one. Oh, lovely. It’s even got that like older scooter feel to it. You It’s got a bit of a rumble, but I like that. That’s the character of it. So, you can see a little bit of vibration on the mirrors. I can just feel the engine via me backside via the seat. Let me turn it round. I’m sure there’s not going to be an issue cuz the turning circle is pretty good. Yeah. I mean, it really does help when you’re doing these really tight turns and you’re on something as light as this. And I know it’s not the lightest scooter, but it’s still very light for a bike. I mean, when you’re comparing it to I say the Vogge DS there that’s outside that’s like what 200 and something kilograms. So that one’s a lot heavier than this. Comfort first of all on the bumps. That’s actually quite comfortable. I think the seat is really well padded. So, as far as these bumps and from the cobbles, yeah, there’s not a great deal there. It’s significantly colder today. Don’t be fooled by the blue sky that is creeping out from those clouds because it is definitely colder today. Let’s see how good this is just to get up to normal road speeds. [Music] And there’s 30. Yeah. So, it’s certainly getting up to keeping up with traffic. Very good. Very good brakes as well, actually. Yeah. I’m in the middle of telling you about performance whilst breaking hard because, you know, picking speed up quickly means you’ve got to slow down even quicker. Yeah, we’re getting up to normal road speeds with no issues. And that’s really what you want out of a 125 scooter or bike. This does it very nicely. What I want to check is can this get to 60 m an hour? And I’d be shocked if it couldn’t. But as I’ve already mentioned, it’s quite heavy. So, well, it’s quite heavy for a scooter. So, the fact that it’s got 14.9 horsepower is brilliant. But the fact that it’s about 20 to 30 kilos heavier than other scooters, that might hinder the performance a little bit. Hopefully, it’ll balance itself out. You know, more power, more weight, but we’ll see. 30 m an hour is nice and comfortable. Even going over the odd little bump, we’ve got smaller wheels. We’ve only got the 12-in tires on it, so smaller wheels. However, I’ve been over a couple of lumps and bumps in the road and yeah, it just seems to soak them up nicely. This wind protection, I am feeling a little bit of wind kind of on me chin, which is surprising because my chin is like down here somewhere compared to how this screen is. So, yeah, I think it’s obviously sneaking in from around the sides. So, yeah, up to 40 miles an hour. Let’s take it up to 50. Yeah, 50 mph. I mean, it’s getting there really really quickly to be fair. There’s uh there’s no drama with it. It seems to be really smooth with the speed increase, which is good. Let’s try with a little bit of filtering. Not normally an issue with a scooter because they are just small bikes. You fit through gaps in a scooter that ordinarily you can’t fit through on anything else. But yeah, straight through and I’m actually pulling away from traffic there. So, I’m happy with the performance. In fact, I’m very happy with the performance. I’ve literally left those for dead back there. It’s quite windy today. You can see the flags in the wind, but the bike itself is quite nicely planted on the road. I’m not being blown everywhere. If I do want to move it around to dodge the odd little pothole in the road because, you know, the UK is full of them. The councils are useless. You can move and dodge them quite quickly is what I’m getting at. The joys of scootering. At least I can get right to the front of the queue because I’ve got loads of room. I’m on a little scooty. I like it. Another naugh to 40 test. And there we’ve got it. So, it it is very nippy actually. I’m quite impressed. I was worried that the weight of this was going to really affect the performance, but it’s it just feels like a quick 125. So, I’m going to take it to a a 60 stretch of road because I need to make sure that it will do 60 m an hour. And the figures suggest that it will, but you know, until I do it myself, I believe nothing. Now I am on a faster stretch of road now. So I’m doing 50 m an hour and it’s lovely, you know, around these little bends, little twists in the road. It’s nice to throw around. Let me uh get it up to 60. Yeah, 60 mph there. It is really nice actually around the bends. Not quite sports bike like I don’t feel quite as comfortable to lean over. However, it does feel nice to throw around. I don’t like that. That’s not very nice, is it? But I’ve got room. I’m on a little scooter. I can sneak past these little buggers who are taking up all of the road in traffic. Don’t mind a little bit of sneaking. The joys again of being on two wheels in comparison to all of these in traffic. I can just sneak on past. And for anybody watching outside the UK, everything I’m doing now is completely legal and it’s not dangerous. It’s legal. In the UK, car drivers are taught when learning to look out for bikes and bikes can filter legally and all that. In fact, they’ve got L plates. though I’m actually I’m becoming a learning point for them now because their instructor should be telling them about motorcycles filtering and all that stuff. So yes, I’ve helped them. You’re welcome. They are all taught that and I know that cuz I was an instructor myself for a little bit and yes, you do teach learners to look out for motorbikes. It’s something you always stress and always point out. However, for anyone that’s watched my recent videos, you’ll know that a lot of people don’t pay any bloody attention to that and they just pull out straight in front of you. So, yes, they are taught to look for you, but it doesn’t mean they will. So, for anybody out there, just yeah, still have your wits about you when you’re on two wheels cuz there’s still boogers who just don’t look. All I can confirm today is 60 mph and a little bit beyond. Comes up easily and it’s still pulling. So, I know it can go faster. I just don’t know how much faster. This bike is riding really, really nicely. So, credit to it. You know, it’s it’s done the miles that it’s done that popped up on your screen before and it’s still riding beautifully. The performance is still there. The comfort still there. Um the chuckability, yes, that should be something that I can throw in. Um yeah, it’s just easy to, you know, the slightest little tense in your butt cheek and you can move this bike from one side of the road to the other. It’s nice on the tight bends as well as you’ve seen. Yeah, it’s just overall a nice little thing this now for £2,199. Should you buy one? Well, see, I’m I’ve already said I’m an old romantic when it comes to Vesper. There’s just something about them. And Vespers are expensive and I accept that you do pay for the name when it comes to a Vesper as well. I know into Moto Cell cheaper brands that you can buy brand new for £2,199. You could buy a brand new bike. In fact, you could buy a brand new bike and have change. What I’m going to say with this bike, as I’ve I’ve said a couple of times already, I’m a bit of a romantic when it comes to these Vespers. Put me visor up now. I am a bit of a romantic when it comes to them. I really do like them. I love the styling. I love how they feel when you ride in them. They’ve got a bit of character to them that the modernday bikes don’t have. Are you going to buy a new bike or a used bike? This bike aesthetically from the outside, I mean, it’s been cleaned beautifully. It looks like a a a new bike and yet it’s 13 years old. So, the bike looks amazing. It looks in tip-top shape. It rides beautifully. It’s a really nice bike. But it just comes down to do you want a used bike or do you want a new bike? Do you want to go out and buy a brand new bike for the same price? But arguably, you know, you’re buying a cheaper brand or do you get a used Vesper? Now, for me personally, I think if one of the MGBs or Sims or, you know, cheaper bikes was wheeled out next to this, I would just be drawn to this because I love Vespers. I just think that the character and everything of them is brilliant, but they perhaps aren’t as practical as others that have got more storage. I get all that. I just like Vespers. So, if it is a bike that you’re interested in, and you should be because it is a lovely little thing, it is. It’s a lovely little thing. If it is a bike you’re interested in, I’ll put a link in the description for Into Moto. And if you’re just looking for a scooter, Into Moto has lots and lots and lots of them inside. 125s, 50s, they’ve got a lot. Brand new, used, you name it, there’s a lot. So, if you’re just looking for a scooter and you don’t quite fancy one of these, you want a more modern one, just have a look at the website. They’ve got loads. Um, but for me, yeah, I’m just going to go in and smile because I do love a Vesper. Thank you very much for watching. I’ll catch you on the next one. Lers. to he’s a killer. That’s right.

  1. Shopping is ok under the seat but you need to be aware it gets hot under there as it sits above the engine … so don't put perishables in there for long journeys or they'll get too warm. I ride a 2010 Vespa GTS300ie Super and it's fun to put shopping on that special hook at the lower front between your knees, it's designed as such and very good too. The side panels prevent direct wind from flapping any shopping bags all over the place. I love my Vespa, it's really powerful and such fun. Mine also has a small screen, which is perfect for lower speeds and even at 60 I am not particularly blasted by wind, but I usually potter at 50 just so I can enjoy the ride without bombing along. I absolutely love mine, I am 62 and won't ever return to big bikes which I last had 24 years ago, so this is a return to biking for me and I enjoy it far more than I ever did on the Kawasaki 750.

  2. The GTS in the thumbnail is the much later model with side mounted radiator, the older one which you review has the radiator near the front and uses the old leader engine that had many problems including water pump failures and cam chain stretching due to it being to weak for the 4 valve engine, these problems was sorted out on the later models

  3. Vespa is what Vespa is. The dogs bollocks of scooter ownership. But brand new at least, that kind of ownership is not cheap. Longer term, or secondhand in good condition such as this example, it makes more sense. But for a good deal less, Suzuki does a great job with their Address and Avenis. Brand new, for those who just need basic transport – to get from A to B – which is the very essence of what a scooter is meant to be, brands like SYM would seem to make more common sense.

  4. Morning Gilly, I love the Vespa’s, for me they are the best looking modern scooter. I previously had a GTS 300 super hpe and regret selling it. A local dealer has a 250gts for £2800 which is very nice, if I was in position to buy it I definitely would. But I’d lose too much money if I parted with my Kawasaki Eliminator 500 ( now not used as much since I got my NX750s), a nice scooter would be a good partner for local running around.

  5. Love a Vespa. Had the LX 125 model years ago with the 3 Valve Leader engine. Ran beautifully and could do a genuine 60mph.

They are heavier than your standard scoots but the extra weight just makes it feel more planted on the road.

Great review as always bud 👍🏼

  6. The key point is that you're buying into an iconic brand. It helps that the iconic brand is so premium, there's no skimping on components that if you buy this second hand, chances are its enthusiast owned and maintained. A good performing, good looking and compelling purchase for the discerning prospective scooterist. Of course if a 3 year warranty and basic transport is what your after – there are plenty of options in the new market.

  7. The Vespa GT 125 or larger cc versions are ok as runabouts , only if in decent nick & at no more than a couple of grand . As a new buy , they are well overpriced & a rip off . An old workmate of mine purchased one of the early models around 2003./ 4 . I was not impressed with the engines internals , after being asked to help him replace failed parts , less than 2 years from brand new . Having said that. I believe they have upgraded the engines since then on later models , so could be worth a punt if in good nick & no more than a couple of grand . The classic scooter fly screens are more for looks , than effective wind deflectors . They are not as effective as the Givi fly screens designed for naked motorcycles such as the Bandit ,which deflect the wind blast above riders head. I myself reckon this notion of the Vespa brand being premium , has been generated by the farty latte coffee shop Vesparati set . They were always seen as cheap to mass produce budget brand who produced paraffin pissers for the great unwashed back in the day . 👍
