Welcome to the Monaco! If you enjoy our walks, you can buy a coffee for me:) The link is in the video description. It really helps me to stay energized and create more videos for you! Monaco is a tiny, glamorous principality located on the French Riviera in Western Europe It is the second smallest country in the world (The Vatican is smaller) covering just about 2 square kilometers. Despite its small size, it is one of the most densely populated and wealthiest countries. Today we will visit iconic places, enjoy the views, see the prince’s residence and experience the atmosphere of the streets. Monaco is bordered by France on three sides and the Mediterranean Sea on the other. Its strategic location makes it a popular destination for tourists and a playground for the rich and famous. The country is divided into several districts, with Monte Carlo being the most famous. Monaco has a population of around 39,000 people, with a significant portion being expatriates. The standard of living here is very high. There are a few reasons for this. Monaco’s lack of personal income tax has been a major draw for wealthy individuals and businesses. Since the 19th century, the principality has offered this tax advantage to attract foreign investors and residents. As a result, many millionaires and billionaires have chosen to make Monaco their home, which boosts the local economy through luxury spending and investments in real estate. Also tourism is a major contributor to Monaco’s wealth. Its Mediterranean climate, beautiful coastline, luxury hotels, and casinos attract millions of visitors annually. Major events like the Monaco Grand Prix and the Monaco Yacht Show bring in a lot of revenue from tourists and business travelers. Monaco’s political stability and strong governance under the ruling Grimaldi family have contributed to its wealth. The country is known for being safe and secure, which makes it an attractive place for the wealthy to live. Monaco’s wealth stems from its unique combination of tax advantages, a flourishing tourism and real estate market, a strong financial services industry, and a luxurious lifestyle that continues to attract affluent residents and visitors. And we continue to go with you towards the sea coast. Monaco is ruled by the Grimaldi family, which has governed the principality for over 700 years. It one of the oldest ruling dynasties in Europe. The current ruler is Prince Albert II, who took the throne after the death of his father, Prince Rainier III, in 2005. Prince Albert II, born on March 14, 1958, is the son of Prince Rainier III and the famous American actress Grace Kelly. Her marriage to Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956 transformed her from a Hollywood star into Princess Grace of Monaco. As princess, Grace brought Hollywood glamour to the Monaco royal family and helped raise Monaco’s international profile. Grace Kelly’s legacy endures through her charity work, her contribution to the arts, and her lasting impact on Monaco. Monaco is known for its environmental initiatives, despite its image as a playground for the wealthy. Prince Albert II has been a strong advocate for sustainability and has led several initiatives to reduce Monaco’s carbon footprint. The principality has set ambitious goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote renewable energy. Despite being one of the wealthiest places on Earth, Monaco doesn’t have its own airport. Instead, visitors typically fly into nearby Nice Côte d’Azur Airport in France and then travel to Monaco by car, train, or even helicopter. Helicopter transfers are quite common among the affluent visitors. Monaco hosts one of the most prestigious and iconic races in the world of motorsport, the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I visited Monaco after the race and later we will see that they are dismantling the stands and roads after this event. It race has been a staple of the Formula 1 calendar since its inception in 1929. The Circuit de Monaco is considered one of the most difficult and technical tracks in Formula 1. It is a street circuit, meaning the race takes place on regular roads that are closed off for the event. The circuit is incredibly narrow, with tight corners, elevation changes, and barriers close to the track, leaving no room for error. The length of the Monaco circuit is 3.337 kilometers (2.074 miles). The race typically covers 78 laps, making for a total race distance of about 260 kilometers (162 miles). Given the circuit’s challenging nature, overtaking is notoriously difficult, which makes qualifying especially important in Monaco. You can already see the building The Monte Carlo Casino here. Of course, Monaco has many expensive boutiques, luxury stores and brands. It is in this area, near the casino, that most of the boutiques are located. Here they clear the road and stands after the Formula 1. Share your impressions of the walk in the comments! The most interesting places await you further. The seaside, beautiful yachts, the prince’s residence, parks and stunning views. The banner i”Thank you, Charles” refers to the significant victory of Charles Leclerc, a Monegasque Formula 1 driver. In 2024, Leclerc achieved a historic win at the Monaco Grand Prix, his first victory at his home race. He became the first Monegasque driver to win the prestigious race in modern Formula 1 history. And now a short tour of the Monte Carlo Casino inside. The Monte Carlo Casino is one of the most famous casinos in the world and has been featured in several movies, including James Bond films. However, an interesting fact is that Monaco’s citizens are not allowed to gamble in the casino. Prince Charles III, who opened the casino in the 19th century. Prohibited locals from gambling to avoid potential financial ruin among his people. During my visit there was some kind of construction going on almost everywhere. The famous La Rascasse bend. The turning angle is 135°, and overtaking here is almost impossible. This is a Japanese garden. It’s a very strange feeling to walk here during construction. There was construction last year too. But the day will come when it will be quiet here. This garden was created in 1994 at the request of Prince Rainier III to reflect the traditional Japanese garden style and bring a touch of tranquility to the bustling city. Interesting art objects. As far as I understand, these installations change annually. There is a local market here, which unfortunately was closed. I will definitely take a video of it on my next walk in Monaco. We are going to Monaco-Ville now. The official capital of the Principality of Monaco. Place du palais Le Palais Princier de Monaco. Residence of the Prince of Monaco, built in the 13th century. The Catholic Cathedral of St. Nicholas, built in the 19th century in the Romanesque style. The Palace of Justice. Constructed in 1930, the palace serves as the home for Monaco’s judicial institutions, including the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, and other legal offices. The Oceanographic Museum, which was founded by Prince Albert I in 1910. The museum is perched on a cliff overlooking the sea and houses fascinating marine life exhibits, including aquariums, sea artifacts, and collections gathered by the prince during his ocean explorations.
