Mont Ventoux — one of the most iconic and revered climbs in the world of cycling. Having ridden it once, we discovered an alternative route while exploring the stunning roads nearby in Provence that completely changed my thinking on the best way to the summit.

In this video, I share the route I’d definitely choose next time: a quieter, more scenic approach via the Gorges de la Nesque. If you’re planning your own ride up Ventoux and want less traffic, more beauty, and a memorable experience beyond the classic ascents, this is for you.

🚴‍♀️ You’ll see:
• The classic Mont Ventoux climb
• Alternative routes through rural Provence
• The breathtaking Gorges de la Nesque
• My personal take on the most rewarding way up Mont Ventoux

hello viewers welcome back if you’ve been watching recently and a huge welcome if you’re new to the channel recently I’ve been sharing some classic TDE France climbs ridden whilst traveling around France in our van this time I’m focusing on Mon vtu there are amongst others three very popular routs to this iconic Mountaintop from bedin mocine and salt from bedin it’s a climb of just under 21 km often tackled in an anticlockwise Direction with an average gradient of 7.7% total Ascent for this climb is 1,594 M from Maline it’s a touch longer at 21 km often in a clockwise Direction with an average gradient of 7.5% total Ascent for this route is 1,564 M approaching from the east in salt it’s a 24.4 km climb with an average gradient of 4.9% and a total ascend of 1,24 M we approached the climb from Maline but contrary to the usual route we first road to bedin and then through the forest in an anticlockwise direction to the summit returning by the more usual route of ascent to Malo between Maline and bedin a bonus call is gained the called La madelin the first 2/3 of the route climb through the forest well 6K to go and personally just the trees I was very pleased to pop out of the trees for the final part of the climb it’s opened up a bit up until now it’s pretty much been Forest but what have you greeted us when we reached this point a Barren Rocky and magnificent ride with the road twisting ahead to the summit shining blindingly white in the sun however we subsequently discovered what we thought to be a much better route again starting from Maline and onto bedin on this time I can recommend combining it with the amazing Gorge delesque if you enjoy a good long ride you won’t regret it let’s take a look it says 1,300 ft to go still so a bit left 6K 7.1% altitude 1441 the summit’s 1910 so yep good way to go there’s the summit it’s a little bit like [Music] seeing the light out when you’re doing the cape R Trail get out the trees finally you see [Music] it the hardest part of the climb from bedin is probably the final section which ramps up to 10% right at the end let’s do [Music] it just under 400 ft to go Blue Skies very little wind heart rate in the red not too hot fortunately it’s nearly [Music] 12 near in the top now follow this wa for [Music] [Music] 036 right that’s the Summit done but rather than taking you back to Maline let’s go back to the aforementioned Gorge delesque which we feel would be a great Prelude to the climb let’s look at this business 7 ft to the top view of the vent vtu day view of the vont two day [Music] [Music] sh [Music] you [Music] so from here I’ll suggest question would be to join up with the salt approach to the summit of long to but I’ll leave it here whilst we take a no less spectacular descent route through some of the lovely towns in this area and back to Maline for a bowl of chips hope you’ve enjoyed the ride please give it a thumbs up and hit the Subscribe button for more footage of provance it’s a simply beautiful part of Southern France yeah yeah now it is it’s this bloody stupid osmo just not switching on properly until next time cheero

  1. I see it's a stage finish in this year's Tour Sue (stage 16, 22 July) I thought you might have stopped off at Tom Simpson's memorial but I guess you just wanted to keep going! At least you didn't have to deal with the usual strong winds on the ascent 😄
