I’ve made a few videos on reducing weight on a Brompton so when someone local to me saw those videos and wanted me to install some mods along with the 6 to 9 speed mod I decided to take up the challenge. I wanted to document the process of doing the 2-3 sprocket mod using relatively off the shelf parts. I’ll upload the video on that later.
He already had the carbon seatpost and a few other changes but what I installed was:
•Titanium Triangle
•Carbon Fork + headset
•Carbon Cranks + chainring (50-34T) + BB
•Lighter front wheel
•Pedals
•6 to 9 speed mod (18T, 15T, 12T)
It weighs 10.4kg now. I believe before my mods it was around 12kg but I really need to get a more reliable scale…
Anyways, he can definitely get this below 10kg. Probably lose 100g going with conti urban contact, I do a 3D printed suspension block that’s like 100g lighter than his metal spring one, lighter fenders and grips would probably bring it below 10kg.
Let me know if you have any questions!
