Three years. Thousands of kilometers. Countless memories.
This is my honest review of the Canyon Grizl CF SL 6 — after years of gravel rides, road trips, and one very emotional 1,000 km journey from Belgium to the French Alps.
In this video, I’ll share what I love about the Grizl, what I’d change, and why this bike still means so much to me.
It’s not the lightest or the fastest — but it’s been my most reliable companion on and off the road.

What’s up guys welcome to a new video I’m out for a ride on my Canyon Grizl and this is my three year review of the Canyon gravel bike I will tell you exactly what I love what I would change and why I still can’t quite let her go This bike has been with me through crashes epic bike packing trips and some seriously emotional miles I’ve ridden it in the Belgian mud, across the French Alps and once even straight into a chain across the road that wasn’t my best day but neither was that year Alright let’s talk about the bike so the bike is a Canyon Grizl CF SL 6 the name sounds like a WiFi password but the bike itself is beautifully simple It is a size small, carbon fibre frame Shimano GRX groupset 2 by 10 with an 1124 on the rear 46 by 30 on the front it has DT Swiss C1850 wheels with 45mm tires I specced mine in Earl Grey which honestly sounds like something your grandma would drink at 4 PM but in real life it looks amazing it’s stealthy the combination with the tan walls makes it in my opinion a very nice looking bike overall the Grizl CF SL 6 feels like the sweet spot between performance and practicality you can race it, you can load it up for a weekend trip or you can just go out for a gravel ride I’ve kept it mostly stock though I’ve been thinking about converting it to a 1by Easier to maintain, cleaner look, less weight but for now it’s time to keep riding Alright now, quick moment before we dive into the story of the chain accident while I’m recording this my channel is at 18 1860 subscribers so less than 150 subscribers away from 2000 would be a big milestone for me I would be so pumped if you could just hit that subscribe button if you haven’t yet really just takes one second it would mean the world to me in March 2022 I went out for my first real gravel ride on the Grizl I was riding on a fantastic gravel road in a forest when suddenly I found myself going over my handlebars head first into the ground someone had stretched a chain across the road impossible to see until it was too late I hit it full speed went straight over the bars and cracked my helmet clean in half the grizzle a few scratches on the fork some scuffed bar tape and somehow perfectly straight wheels I was a mess the bike was fine that’s when I realized this thing is built like a tank I tried to shake it off and continued my ride I was really bummed about messing up my bike but what happened later that year would put all things in perspective So in 2022 our worlds collapsed my wife and I lost our baby boy Babouche* the bike even more became my therapist gave me focus something to work towards something to feel again so in 2023 I decided to ride my bike to the south of France all the way from our home in Belgium to the French Alps 1,024km five days just me, the bike and empty roads for that trip I swapped the gravel tires of the Grizl for road tires 32mm and it turned the bike into a endurance machine honestly it handled everything perfectly cross winds, long climbs, cobbles rough tarmac and even the occasional emotional breakdown I arrived on my birthday, exhausted emotional but very proud that ride will always mean more to me than just a distance and this bike carried me through it so after three years what do I actually think about this bike first what I love the geometry of this bike is spot on it is stable on rough terrain still playful when you stand up and hammer and it can handle basically anything you throw at it and this colour Earl Grey with the black details it doesn’t scream look at me and it’s just the right amount of stealth class and elegance what I would change though is the 2 by setup it’s a 2 by 10 and the gear ratio is not the greatest especially on the terrain I like to ride it so I might swap it to a 1 by in the near future and maybe just maybe a set of lighter wheels not because I need them but you know always a good excuse for an upgrade so after three years one crash and thousands of meaningful kilometers the Canyon Grizl CF SL 6 has earned its place it’s not the fastest bike it’s not the lightest but it’s real it’s taken me places both physically and emotionally and I wouldn’t trade it for anything thank you so much for watching I hope you like the video drop a comment if you’re team 1 by or 2 by give the like if you enjoy the stories hit the subscribe button for more cycling adventures and I will see you in the next one peace
