[Music] [Applause] It begins with fire. Steel bent, welded, and shaped. These aren’t just trophies. They’re offerings. Out here, the desert doesn’t care who you are. It only sees shadows. off the prices and reveals who’s built to rise and who will fall. What a gladiator here. It doesn’t crown kings or queens. It forges them. [Music] Every feature is a question, every landing an answer. This is not just a sport. It’s a ritual. This is Red Bull Rampage. It is indeed the most coveted prize in free ride mountain biking, if not the entirety of action sports. And to claim it, you have to do more than just ride on the edge. You have to live in it. And here in Utah’s wild desert, where the cliffs rise from 150 million years of sculpted sand and stone, nature has given us an immense playground right here on the doorstep of Zion National Park. We are going to watch the best men and women push the limits of free ride mountain biking and give us a show. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to day one of Red Bull Rampage 2025. I know that you all around the world are fired up because we are fired up. My name is SMA Masella joined by two mountain bike legends and Cam McCall and Caroline Buchanan. In the last year, when we think about the progress of the women from their debut here at Rampage, can you believe that we’re already talking about a feature like the battleship cam? The battleship. Get real. This camera angle right here truly shows the sheer exposure and consequence if anything goes wrong here. This feature was pioneered just 2 years ago by Brendan Fairluff and Shimon Godziac. And when Chelsea Kimble saw that feature, she had the goal set to someday ride it. This venue was announced as the women’s venue for 2025. And this footage is from yesterday. She conquered it. Her Instagram name is Chelsea sends it. And once again, she proved that handle to be true. You can see that emotion. That is what she came here for. And then we have three women deciding, Caroline, to attack yet another classic line here at Rampage. The story of the women is truly the rising of the rookies. Kirsten Van Horn on screen as well as Janelle Sukup and the vet Vinnie Armstrong unlocked this iconic Baron Sim beline feature yesterday. The three girls shared dig team power to work together as they have one less digger than last year. So only two diggers just proving that there is no eye in Rampage. And what happens when a feature is unlocked like this? The absolute entire canyons erupt with cheers and support and that camaraderie is so strong and the eight best free ride mountain bike ladies are set to drop as we see Vinnie Armstrong with that classic veteran style. But of course, what comes with progress uh is injury, unfortunately, as we see via Verbic here on this entrance getting sent over her bike. And Casey Brown, Casey Brown attempting the heaviest drop in ever tried here to enter this venue. And I say attempted because it’s only been attempted one other time by Nico [ __ ] with similar results. Unfortunately, Casey Brown out and CJ Selling, unfortunately, her story has ended early, too, cuz she is a true fan with a decade of time here at Rampage. Yeah, a wrist and an ankle. We wish them all well uh in their recovery as a Sorry. Go ahead, Caroline. Just the landscape. I mean, just look at it for those of you new here. Expect to see that technicality and control in the top section. Heading into the mid will be the amplitude. So, expect to see drops, canyon gaps, and then coming down into the bottom is where we’ll see those trick features opening up. That is the lay of the land. A variation festival here at Red Bull Rampage. As we take a look at our start list, Kirsten Van Horn, Hannah Bergman, Vinnie Armstrong, Cammy Nggera, Janelle Sukup, Georgia Ael, and Robin Gomes, our defending champ. And I’ve just been informed that Chelsea Kimell has had to drop due to an injury suffered in practice last night. That is heartbreaking. We’ll get into more of that during the competition. Well, these seven women are fired up as is this crowd. They have been pouring into this valley since about 6:00 a.m. this morning at dark. This is the most coveted ticket in free ride mountain biking. Yeah. You know, they sell out quick as soon as they announce the tickets up for sale. And it feels like tradition to wake up before the sunrise and work your way out here, watch the sun find its way to the mountain, and then be able to witness these athletes ticking off their features in their last minutes of preparation before finals. Caroline, this is your first rampage. So, give us the feel for you coming all the way from Australia to finally be here. Oh my gosh, it is even bigger than TV. Never does any justice. And the scale and just the amplitude. I mean, I got here and I was like, “Wow.” So, it just explains how big this venue is. I honestly could not tell the difference between the women and men’s venue. I looked up and I was like, “Which one’s men and which one’s women?” Which explains the scale out here. Well, for those of you who are new to Rampage, you might be wondering, “How does one win? All of these athletes are so incredible. The features are gigantic.” We will go down to the Ford judges tower uh and and check in with Gully uh who is our our our man behind the judges giving us perspective on the mind of and and and the thinking of our judging team. How’s it going down here? Excellent. Thank you, SMA. Uh we are here with the five judges on the panel. They are all extremely experienced. They know exactly what they’re doing. And everybody’s run will be broken down by four categories. We’re going to be starting with the the degree of difficulty of their chosen line, the tricks and style that they’re throwing throughout their run, the control and fluidity from top to bottom, and finally, everybody’s favorite, amplitude. You mix that cocktail perfectly, and you have yourself a winning run. Thank you, Jeff Golovich. Uh, amplitude. My favorite word, but I looked it up because I, you know, I’m I’m joking. It’s not my favorite word, but I said, “Let me look up amplitude. It means magnitude and strength and and and scope.” And I was like, “Okay, I guess I like amplitude now.” Are you learning to love the word I’m learning? I am. As we see uh the the the the depth of the criteria here, degree of difficulty, tricks, and style, control, and amplitude. How do the judges make that collection work into a score in that one to 100? to describe that. I would start here with something that is very unique to this event, Red Bull Rampage. The athletes have been out here for about two weeks choosing their line and sculpting their line with their twoperson build team. That’s different than a slope style competition, which is another judged event we have within mountain biking where everybody’s on the same course. So, the judges have to put their time in walking around, figuring out who’s going where, memorizing who has done what during practice, and setting somewhat of a baseline expectation for what these riders might do. Of course, these riders always surprise the judges when they drop in under pressure and rise to the occasion, but that’s truly unique about this event. You look at the names of those categories on their scorecard and I think degree of difficulty is really important. A lot of what they choose to ride on their line goes into that category. Caroline, what is one of the judging criteria that you think is going to come into play here today based on what you saw in practice? I think everything that you mentioned above and it’s that overall impression and the fact that these ladies like there’s a huge history to get to this point here today and it’s been that 5-year journey and I think the narrative has changed from that pressure to get into this moment. They’ve proved to themselves last year they can do it. They can put down a run. This year is performance. They want to do a performance run for themselves and this venue is actually really special because it’s allowing for that performer to shine. Well, imagine then being Kristen Van Horn from Nelson, British Columbia with everything that we just described uh waiting to go here as our first rider. Now, when you’re in this valley, the the the number one thing that we end up talking about outside of the riding is the wind. Uh the flags are starting to blow. Put into context what wind does on a course like this to to affect performance. Yeah, I think it’s something we have to talk about right at the start of the show. Also, just to mention, it’s common for the morning to have a little bit more of a push in wind as the the temperature changes and those convection currents are doing their thing. So, the wheels become sails. That’s why the wind is such a factor. The direction of the wind really makes the biggest difference. If you’re experiencing a tailwind and you’re going off of a big feature like we see on screen right now, the biggest feature at this venue called El Presidentede, it’s 53 feet pointtooint, meaning you’re going to be in the air for a while. Your your wheels become sails. If it’s a tailwind, it’s going to send you deep. You’re going to have to break more to compensate. If it’s a headwind, you’re going to have to work for your speed a little bit more. If it’s a side wind, don’t ride. It’s going to kick your wheels out from under you and it’s really hard to land an air of this. Here you go. Smma amplitude. An air of this magnitude. I think on paper you’re looking at Kirsten Van Horn, a rider who is technically a rookie, but watching her in practice yesterday, she’s looking more like a veteran. I think it’s smart what she’s doing right now. I mean, she comes from Nelson. Who else comes from Nelson? Kurt Sorgi. Uh, as well as a whole host of other legends. There there’s something about that little nestled community there in British Columbia that really breeds specialty riders. And the other thing that really happened this week, too, is the rain. It changed the why we’re delayed a day. It has changed for the riders. They’ve had to adapt to digging in the mud, creating some drainage, and it’s allowed the course to be less dusty. So, the speeds have checked up. They’ve had to allow for that differential. Um, so that’s a big big change out here in the desert. That really is a a a main feature. It’s been the the the the star energy has been the rain the last two days. We had to actually postpone competition, but now the course looks perfect. Um you’ve competed in Rampage, but also someone you’re related to has competed in Rampage. Little brother. It’s tough to call him little these days. You know, he’s he’s a big man out there. Look at that. We got him on screen. Tyler McCall from third place in last year’s Rampage to now our field correspondent. What up, Tyler? How’s it going? I’m uh enjoying being on this side of things. I’m stressed in different ways than usual, but uh yeah, like you guys were talking, we’re in the desert. Weather’s crazy. This has been the wetest rampage I think we’ve ever had, which I think the day the builders actually really liked. Like time lost with waiting for rain delays are actually made up for with having good dirt for building. And then wind is always a struggle. We tend to get these turbulent little pockets as the sun hits, ground starts to warm up. But I think it’s going to chill out and I think we have really good forecast today and I can’t see what these ladies do out there. Tyler, what is it like when you’re a Kristen Van Horn and and you’re you’re you’re you’re just in that waiting game like you you you probably woke up being like ah it’s Rampage Day and now you’re you’re being forced to wait due to weather. For sure. Crazy long days out here. Like just to get to this point is a lot of work. It’s a bit of an endurance event and then you wake up, you’re ready to go, you have a plan and then you know you’re kind of just sidelined but trying to stay in the right mindset. Kirsten’s been riding so confident um in all practice. I saw her doing top to bottoms yesterday. So I mean she’s got it dialed. She’s just uh waiting for her time to go and uh yeah. Can’t wait to see it. We’re going to try and listen in. Thank you so much Tyler. You’re all good. So when you’re about to drop and it’s supposed to fully push in at the bottom. Oh yeah, that rubber piece just because of the jersey kind of one of my favorite things uh about these women is yes they are competing against each other but the managing the the the manner in which they continue to pump up each other’s tires and support each other. This is an endurance event. We are watching the competition today, but these eight days of being out here digging and trying to figure out lines and the way they collaborate with one another, you don’t really see that in in the rest of sports. Yeah. And I think what’s extra special is this is just scratching the icing of a new beginning for the women. And if you compared it to other big mountain free ride, big wave surfing, big mountain skiing has been around for 30 years for the women. for big wave surfing draws a Nazareth which is quite comparable to here. It’s been around 20 years and this is 5 years for mountain biking. So this is the beginning and it just shows the girls they’re heroes. They’re ground bakers together. Yeah, you definitely do feel like when you’re in this venue, you feel like you’re at you. Just going to pause here to listen in to our officials. Can you get uh give us an update on conditions there? So wind upper winds at the hip lowmax. Copy. Thanks. Yeah. Another one. One, two, three. Yeah. No, not the middle one. It’s the third one. One, two, three. What are you seeing, Cam? I’m seeing some of the bravest women to ever throw a leg over a mountain bike knowing that the wind is probably going to calm down. We’re going to have a nice window for this entire competition and not wanting to jump the gun. Dropping in before that wind calms down. I think it’s a good decision. Yeah, they’re getting wind checks from the top, from the middle, from the bottom and taking that information. conditions are improving. We’re getting some better lols. So hopefully we’re underway soon. Are you uh you good with both drones or you still need So you heard the report there getting longer lulls. Conditions feel like they’re improving. LJ’s down here. LJ’s down on the course somewhere. Oh, okay. One more time. of people waiting on the status. Yeah, we’re just waiting on uh conditions. Well, Matt, can you give updated your location? Yeah, cuz it might for a bit and then we’ll be good. So, copy. A shot of uh Hannah Bergman there closest to the beam on the right. The Red Bull helmet. How do you feel? Gonna try and see if we can uh get an actual look into the mindset of Kirsten right now. Kirsten Van Horn, can you hear me? Hi, this is SMA down in the broadcast. I’m with Cam McCall and Caroline. Um where where’s your head at right now? What are you what are you experiencing up there? Um yeah, pretty cool drop. We just haven’t had really any practice this morning. So, yeah. Nice warm-up run. Full sand warm-up run. Yeah, pretty much. Does the wind feel like it’s it’s starting to lessen a bit? Yeah, it’s promising for sure. Yeah. So, well, we’ll let you get back into your mindset. Thank you for even taking a second to talk with us. Thank you. It seems like it’s common like Yeah, as you see Janelle and Vinnie showing some love to Kristen. Let’s go. And right there she’s got goggles on. That was a big statement. Haven’t had much practice and so this is this run is going to essentially be a I’ll tell you what, watching her in practice last night girls are coming down. She was looking so comfortable and so with the right conditions, we’re about to see a great run. All right, in 2022, Kristen Van Horn was invited to dig at Red Bull Formation and that experience left her star struck and really sparkled the dream of competing here herself. Uh yeah, this venue I came and dug for Veronica Sandler in 2022 and that was my very first mountain bike event ever. Um and it was just a week of me fan girling over all the girls here and just yeah putting hard work into to making the line happen and it was really what just allowed me to to come into the sport. As you see Kristen’s line here, you’re going to see this for each rider. What what what are you seeing off the bat here? We see the graphic of the line map right below her name and then bottom right hand corner. A little bit of a progress bar giving some insight into that baseline expectation of what this line could potentially be worth out here. You see those judging criteria categories and you see how far that red progress bar goes. You see a strength that the judges are expecting for Kirsten Van Horn there. Fluidity and control. These rankings here were created by our judging analyst who is our fly on the wall. Spy ears to the ground by the judges tower Jeff Gulovich. But also keep in mind there’s the possibility for surprises as well. We were watching Kirsten last night experimenting with some tricks. You see that category a little bit lower because they weren’t expecting it when they made these expectations. And we will have to wait for the run to see what she pulls out. Maybe she’s getting the tunes going there. Yeah, it looked like she might have been pressing play. Goggles on, tunes playing. Kristen grew up horseback riding and when she got on the bikes, it just changed the entire direction of her life. Legend has it she couldn’t talk the horses into riding down cliffs. So, She got and horn. Three, two, one. And with that, it looks like we are about to kick off officially this Red Bull Rampage 2025 day one. All right, here we go. [Applause] Nice. This is awesome. Oo, Kirsten Van Horn attacking the top couple corners. Now she’s got to shut it down and approach what’s called the bel line. Not because it’s small, but because it was pioneered by be himself, Brandon Seck. Look how smooth, so controlled. The benefit to the ladies yesterday. They pieced together a top to bottom run. So in moments like this, she linked these sections yesterday and that’s going to give her great confidence coming into this first run. at the dust. Big tabletop as she swoops down. Here we go. Big step down coming up for Kirsten. She decided to trick it. There she goes. A suicide noander. Sending it pretty deep down the landing as well. That has to be the biggest suie drop that we’ve ever seen from the women. She locked that one yesterday and she’s going to have that sigh of relief to know that that is a massive run. The rookie kicks it off CMA to be able to stand up there with all of that pressure on her shoulders, battling the wind and the weather and then have that full pull top to bottom. Kirsten Van Horn repping for Nelson, British Columbia. And you can see the sigh of relief. She’s dug here for so many years for Veros Sandler. And finally, it’s her moment. I loved how she attacked up top, but then she shut it down because you can see she goes a bit deep on that step down as well. She was landing higher up yesterday in practice. Kind of that extra level of energy you have when you’re dropping in for your competition run. She has so much control for a rookie. She does not look like she’s a rookie out here. One thing that I love about her is just that steiness. And I think when you’re in when you’re confident and you’re showing that much comfortability on the bike, like she’s really in a confident place. Oh, look at this. Here comes that suicide no hander. You said it, Caroline. Can you think of a time? Wow. But there’s a bigger step down suicide no hander from the women’s category. No. I mean, we’ve seen some massive ones like in Red Bull Joy Ride in the slope style, but that finish drop at Joyide was definitely smaller than this one. So, I think she’s stomped that. We can pretty clearly say that’s the biggest one we’ve seen so far. I I’m giving her mobility points cuz she almost high-fived herself from behind. I thought for a second that she was losing the pinch. In order to do a suicide no-hander, you have to secure yourself to the bicycle by pinching the seat with your knees. And if you don’t have a strong enough pinch, the bike starts falling away. What a warmup run. Yeah. Well, it’s always nerve-wracking to kick off Red Bull Rampage for spectators, even those who are part of the broadcast, but what is it from the perspective of an athlete? Yeah, it’s pretty hectic, but we really calming in the run. Um, yeah, glad the wind played ball and it was calmed down a bit, but stoked to be down here and stoked to see everyone come down. Let’s talk about that drop in that suicide no-hander. That thing was massive. What was it like for you? Um, intuitive. I don’t know. I just did one last night just like the very end of practice. It was getting dark and so I haven’t Yeah. Just tried to do it again today and thankfully it worked because Yeah. wind and bit of hang time. Yeah. And coming into this Red Bull Rampage, you are a rookie. It was just a few years ago that you were actually digging. What’s that journey been like up to now? Yeah. It’s so surreal. Like never in a million years would I ever thought that. And yeah, owe it all to the people around me and like Via for letting me dig last year and just yeah, Katie for putting on information like such a cool crew. Well, you have arrived and an 82.66 puts you into first place for now. Thank you, Tina Dixon, the fourth member of our team getting the stories at the bottom. And uh we are psyched to have that full pull from Kirsten. as we head up to the top with Hannah Bergman. Last year, an Achilles injury sidelined Hannah. She was so pumped up for this Red Bull Rampage debut, but true to form, she is here. She is stronger. She is focused. And we are going to see her go big uh with technical big tricks. Yeah, this venue is um super special because it’s the very first venue that I ever um did an event at. It was the first formation here in 2019 and then another formation again in 2022. Um so we’ve dug and I’ve had an event here two times already prior to this rampage. Um and so yeah, I’ve gotten to make some marks all across the mountain and now we’re making some new ones. Cam, last year Hannah was not stoked to watch from the sidelines 100%. And we were lucky enough to have her in the booth with us. But everybody was saying, you know what? Who is the rider to beat at the first Rampage? Everybody was saying could be Hannah Bergman. She didn’t have the chance to ride last year. This is her big moment. She’s such a top contender. It’s crazy to see her dropping so early. Second rider to drop. But take a look at these baseline expectation rankings. Difficulty progress bar is very close to that 100. She has chosen a very tech line here. Via’s line is where she adapted her plan to after they decided that looks good down there. The Nico line wasn’t worth it. Caroline, what do you love about her riding? Hannah Bergman, I mean, she’s ready to drop. What I love is this drop in and so much exposure. This is via Vivbe’s line. Via texted her and gifted her this line. So strategic move. Stay real real composed up here. This is a tricky little spot. But this is Vea’s run that she was going to be doing. Hannah took it over and it comes out and around the side here. But boy, a lot of So smooth over that into a big canyon gap now. Going pretty deep, but controlling. Oh, we got a drone down. That was not Hannah. Yeah, she’s got that ski racer background. So, you can see in her body position, she’s got so much strength. She reads that terrain. And the technical precision is one thing I love about Hannah. Yes. 42 ft point to point on that big step down right alongside the one we saw Kirstson doing. Here we go. A trick jump for Hannah Bergman. Back flips it. Oh, impeccable landing. Front tire touching down first. That could not have been cleaner. Didn’t even look like she left the ground. And that is a new skill. That’s a new trick for Hannah. So, she’s got to be over the moon. Not only coming back to Rampage, stomping this redemption from last year, she’s added a new trick to her line. [Music] We see Hannah with her mom and dad being there to greet her. Yes. I like the under knuckle fist bump. That’s a inside the family. There was something about the top of that run when she started kicking out that back wheel just letting it glide. You’re like, “Oh, she’s feeling it.” And we’ll see right here in this replay how technical this drop is. We saw the the clip of Via crashing on it, so you know that it’s way more difficult than she made it look. It was incredibly clean. I watched her go long on that canyon gap and I was wondering if that was going to throw her off, but she was unfazed. And what the riders do when they are getting those skids and they’re like slapping the dirt sometimes it is just to break that traction and wash off some speed so they can take the pressure off their forearms and not have that over braing. I mean, you couldn’t ask for a better landing if you tried, right? That’s textbook. And another thing, you know, she’s making everything look easy in this run, which is going to help her score, but also just to shed a little light on how tough that backflip is. She’s coming into that feature incredibly fast. You have to be on the brakes all the way into the takeoff. And it’s easy to break too much. It’s easy to break not enough. She did it perfect. Well, yeah, you can hear the crowd. They are excited. Hannah, you’ve got to be excited. Last year you were here, but you were on the desk with us and I’m sure I speak for everyone when we’re excited to see you riding. Uh, how much did not being able to compete last year feed into today’s riding? Yeah, it’s extra special for sure getting to be here after missing it last year, but um, honestly, it was so amazing watching the girls do what they did last year, and I’m just honored to get to be here and be part of it with them. So, yeah. But coming down top to bottom, give us your assessment of that run. Wow, that was exactly what I wanted to do. I’m couldn’t be happier. Honestly, I’m didn’t get any practice this morning, so I was a little nervous at the top. Uh, dropping in without any warm up, but Rampage warm up. It’s It’s good. Anna Bergwin, welcome to a Red Red Bull Rampage. All right, Jeff Kovich, our resident Jean Ster. Uh, what do we what do we think in there from the judges perspective? That was an outstanding run. Hannah came in extremely confidently. She was slashing around up top. She came around that line that Vaia dug in. Big old nasty turn. Has to control her speed. Two-stage drop. And then she’s just absolutely charged the entire line top to bottom. That canyon was no joke. Overshot a bit. Held it together with great composure. Flowed through the remainder of her run. nailing the XL drop next to the Hoff and then finishing it off with probably the cleanest backflip I’ve ever seen in competition. Her front wheel came down quickly. Rotation came around and it didn’t look like there was any body impact at all. If if I were on the judges panel, this would probably slot into first from me, but we’re going to have to wait and see what they come up with. All right, Gully. And for those of you at home, Jeff Gullovich does not hand that out for free. It’s not what he does. Yeah, there’s not a lot to be critical of in that run. I can’t think of anything. I mean, here we go. Score coming in. She needs to be an 82.66 dilemma. An 89.33. I personally thought we were going to be in the ‘9s. They are flirting with the ‘9s right there. Such a relief for Hannah. I mean, the highs and lows of this week, winning that scissor paper rock with Casey, seeing a friend go down, and having to strategically change her line. I mean, this week just shows as a champion athlete. She’s had to go with a plan A, move to a plan B, and she’s nailing it. Oh, look. As we head back up to the top, you see the next three to drop. I mean, you could not ask for a better day. And as we take a look at the Queen of Whips, Vinnie Armstrong from Queenstown, New Zealand. She is known for her effortless style and she has won so many medals throwing that bike sideways with her trademark 90° whips. I’d say the biggest challenge in my line is probably going to be like maybe wind exposure and there’s a lot of features to get through. So just remembering the features and ticking them off. So let’s see what Gullivich has come up with as a baseline expectation quality rating for this one. Yeah, this makes sense right here. Fluidity and control. If you know Vinnie Armstrong, that is very much her strong suit. And watching her in practice, she’s another one whose head does not move. She lands right at the top of the landing, makes it look easy. And as you said, Slemma, she’s known for her big whips. There’s some opportunities to show that off down here, not afraid to lean off the side of the bike. And she’s come into it really strong with that ex I mean, from last year, she gained that experience of how to communicate and coordinate with the other teams. And this year her goal is to go slower. Here we go. Vinnie will be working her way over to the same start drop as we saw Kirsten drop into. Let’s see how she handles it. Controlling that speed. Going off that beline drop in the background’s a downhill racer. So, as you can tell, she’s moving and she’s really comfortable with the speed. Last year, she said She heard that gate drop and she was like, I’m back in that racing mindset. And it kind of cost her. So, I know she’s going to be telling herself in her head just to slow down. That’s that style we’re talking about right there. Hanging a foot off. It’s a different hip than we saw Kirstson hit. Longer one going to the left. Woo! A little nosy on that one, but clean. And the benefit she has is she’s that graphic designer and that artist. So, she brings that style and she is able to read the mountain and pick her line and just shows in that build. Nice whip over the trick jump and then sailing it off that final step down hip. She said of her racing career that she enjoyed it, but her heart was always in the air as Vinnie Armstrong showing the flare. [Applause] I think I forgot to breathe. Well, if that doesn’t give you a glimpse into what it’s like to be on this course, nothing will. That’s so easy to do. Actually, you’re so in your head. You’re so fired up for this moment. It’s super easy to forget to breathe. And when you breathe, it allows that bike, it allows the suspension to work properly. So, the bike knows what to do. And if you just allow that moment to happen. So, as you can see, she’s got that just typical Vinnie Armstrong steer. She’s got Ste is a good word for it. If you never heard the word ste, it means style and ease. And Vinnie Armstrong kind of has like a laziness to her riding, an effortless laziness as she dangled that foot off over that left hand hip. She went a bit long on the hoff down there. That thing is 38 feet pointtooint to the sweet spot. We talked about how she likes to lay off the side of the bike. That was a good example. There it was. And both Janelle, Vinnie, and Kirsten all shared this same line. So, they were able to guinea pig. They were able to say, “Hey, you test this feature first. Let’s work together.” And they stepped through this moment. Jeff Golovich, your thoughts? That was such a smooth run. More or less exactly what we expected from Vinnie. She just has that super lazy style, hanging it out off the bike. That one foot table was clicked. It was beautiful on the Grinch hip there. and hands down held as one of the most stylish riders in the field you’re seeing today. Uh among all riders everywhere. One of my favorites to watch and I’m I’m super stoked to see that it was a clean, smooth, reserved run and we can only expect more from Vinnie in her second run. Great assessment as the judges drop their scores. What do the what what do the judges have access to for review? They get to see all those camera angles we just saw in our replay, but they can ask to see them as many times as they want. They can ask for multiple angles, and that really helps them break it down and make sure they’re not missing anything. My hands are cold. They’re so cold at the top. She’s opted for no gloves. Vinnie Armstrong in third place at this time with the 78.66. So, the judges definitely rewarding Kirsten Van Horn for that suicide no-hander. There’s some subtle nuances in the middle section of their runs. As Gully mentioned, the Grinch hip. That’s the one where Vinnie dangled that foot off. Kirsten had a different hip there. But for the most part, a very similar line. But what set it apart was Kirsten taking those hands off over that big step down. That puts her into third place again for now. And to Kelly’s point, leaving a little bit of room for improvement in that second run as we head up to the top with a fantastic woman, a warrior from San Martine de Los Angeles, Argentina, Cami Noggera. She had an invitation to Red Bull’s formation in 2021 that really ignited her free ride career. She continues to push boundaries. I mean, she is built of other things. Let’s hear from Kem and then we’ll give you a glimpse in what into what the last week has been like for her. I’ve been in this venue before formation. I’m not doing the same line. Um, but I’m familiar with the with the side and I really like it. I think that is legit. Don’t let that smile fool you. When this woman gets locked in, she cannot be torn away. Chem dislocated her left elbow 3 days ago. Drove herself to the hospital and literally had the doctor throw the elbow back in while she was awake and then came back out here yesterday and last night was just going ham, sending the El Presidente doesn’t make sense. And we’ll get to listen to her as she is our first athlete miked up today. Cammy getting nasty. Just explains why she won that toughness award last year. Let her hear you. This top section of her run is actually Rita’s drop in. So Brett Re said it’s an absolute honor to see history being rewrote here today. Go. That was so heavy. So nasty. Such good bike control. Great bike control. She’s looking really smooth and fluid coming down across. Holding on to it. She’s going to be focusing on her breathing to reset as the biggest features of her line are still yet to come. That’s a big drop here. That was a change of mind yesterday for this drop. Wow, let’s go Kenny. She went so long. Wow. So change of strategy in the mid link to Presidente going long. [Music] [Applause] Vamo Vamos Cami. No geta full fullest pull. [Music] There you see her dig team. And let’s not forget the slam that Kami took last year to the head where she was concussed, unable to compete. Oh my god. So much passion and emotion. Her energy and her outlook are truly just her biggest skill set. Okay, Krux right here. Romeo Santos is what she has named this shoot. Look how rowdy she got here. I can’t believe she was able to hold on to that left hand burm. But that was not the biggest feature of her line. That was yet to come with El Presidentede, which measures at 53 1/2 ft pointtooint. That’s if you land at the top of the landing. You see her get on the ponies right here, sprinting her heart out, saying, “I’m not going to tag this thing. I’m going to go deep.” Look how deep she goes. And holds on to that one as well. There was a level of aggression in that run that we haven’t seen yet today. That angle really shows how deep. Watch your head. Now, amplitude. I I know we’re on the fence of of that word in general. That’s an example of how you can take a feature and send it deep and get that score category up. I fully embrace amplitude. [Applause] We see the judges having yet another look. And Tina, I can’t imagine how happy and after everything that this woman has overcome. Oh, absolutely. In fact, Cammy posted on her Instagram, “The dream is bigger than the pain.” How true was that? Especially with that run, because what you did there was magical. So true. I can’t believe that I’m riding. I dislocate my elbow three days ago. I was given my 100% to be able to do this. So, my dream came alive and I’m so stoked. I I did I did my goal. So, I’m so happy right now. Not only did you do your goal, you had, as you described it, the spicy shoot up at the top and then you were pedaling so hard into El Presidente when you landed that. What was your reaction? Uh, I don’t know. No much reaction, man. The shoot at the toe was spicy. I entered fast. I don’t know. I’m just so happy that I did the whole thing. Cammy, it was so great to see you able to ride here at Rampage. Thank you so much. Ramo. And the score for Kami puts her into second place with the 87. [Applause] Let’s go. Huge run. Spicy. Spicy. As we head up to the top. We told you the women were going to make a statement. Show you the depth of progression here in year two. And they are not messing around. I just started it. I already got the one minute. Big happy birthday to this girl. She turned 20 and is the youngest competitor in the field here today. Cam, I couldn’t imagine being 20 and dropping into this. Yeah, Janelle discovered mountain biking in 2019 when she and her brother bought their first bike for 500 bucks, a Craigslist bike. And she is already known for her smooth style and her love of just sending it. Yeah, just excited to ride bigger drops and get out of my comfort zone a little bit, but also still, I guess, ride things that I really like and just make them a little bit bigger and make it a little scarier than normal. So, that’s what I’m excited about. And then just, yeah, add a little bit tricks and skis in there and make it my own style. Janelle is miked up, so we’ll be getting to listen in. She liked that 500 bike, $500 bike so much that she grew up at riding ATV. She sold her ATV to get her first real bike. What are you seeing uh in this line here for Janelle? Well, we’re going to see her go beine off the top. That’s what we saw Kirsten and Vinnie drop into and then into come on, which is a step down you got to break a lot into. And then into the Hoff, which is that final step down before the flat section that we saw Kirsten do a suicide no hander on. If you’re looking at her baseline expectation bottom right, fluidity and control is a strength that we’re expecting out of this run. So, two kids and her bike says first rodeo. This truly is her first rodeo dropping into the world’s biggest stage of free ride. You hear the brakes, Janelle wearing a microphone. So, we’re going to listen in. Huge heavy landing. She said it took her an hour to hit that. Just welling up. She’s gone deep coming off that and conquering those fears. Coming up on the Bama Ridge. [Music] Yeah. Staying nice and smooth. There she comes down here. This is a big one. Rubber side down. Exactly. Exactly. Hitting in a spot where she needed it. Janelle Sukup out of Centennial, Colorado. Throwing it over. See that she recently won the Crank Works whip off in Whistler with that last jump tilt. Holy [ __ ] I love it. She’s got the skills. [Applause] Why am I so deep on that one? Holy [ __ ] I’m taking my mouth out. I think one of the things that we forget is that these athletes are working to overcome fear in real time the entire run. This fear was real on the first one. She said she was welling up, tears in her eyes, and she sat there for an hour just contemplating and waiting to send it. I think the holy s bomb down at the bottom was like, did I seriously just make it te to be top to bottom at Red Bull Rampage? Such an accomplishment. I loved how she dangled the foot off on the trick jump down there at the bottom. I thought for a second she was going too slow for this one, but look at this greased right to the top of the landing. We’re about to see after this long step down here, that trick jump where she leaned the bike over sideways, hung that front foot off. It’s a great angle to view that air from as well. How did you spend your 20th birthday? Oh, I was just going to TB at Red Bull Rampage. How about you? And making it look good. That was deep racing BMX. But for Janelle, she actually crashed earlier in the week and extended her bench cut to be safer. Broke so many parts on her bike. And what a reset. Full reset. And as we run up the numbers, a respectable 75.33. She likes it. She says, “Okay, I’ll take it.” As she said, “I’ll take it.” We look forward to what she will bring in run two. You can just feel that youthful energy. She’s stoked to be here. Especially after you’ve put your first successful Red Bull Rampage run in your back pocket. The confidence just grows from there. Well, as we thought might be possible. Hannah Bergman saying, “Hey, I wasn’t here last year, but I am here and I am here to beat in first place.” But Camino get her just right behind her. followed by Kristen Van Horn, the rookie, Vinnie Armstrong, and Janelle Sukup in that top five. Uh, you does your Ching Squad have merch? Georgia Asshles does. Uh, last year she was our second place finisher. She’s what you call a free racer. Free racer. Very, very calculated. The precision and speed and control of Georgia is well known. We saw from last year she came into it and she was that little quiet assassin and she has that diamond ability that she’s able to form under pressure. So she builds throughout the day, she builds throughout the week and then she’s able just to lay it down in those final moments. She grew up in Whistler uh actually kite surfing with her family uh in Mexico. Maybe that’s where she got her bike control from and crossed it over. I think that just keeping it smooth the whole way down. Last year was pretty straight down was a steep venue. This time there’s a lot more linking benching and sometimes that can end up being the hardest thing and that’s when you let your guard down. So just staying on the bike, keeping smooth in between the features. So this start she’s got her own entry off of the main ridge. It’s called the reader drop. You see it there on the line map. It’s one that Brett Reer did back in the day. Pretty tech. She’s going to make her way over and join up to where Cammy was riding. And you think about where Cammy is sitting in the rankings right now. The judges are loving that. She’s also going to hit El Presidentede, which is the biggest feature we’ve seen yet today. Biggest feature at this venue. And we’ve seen the t-shirts. We’ve seen her taking her hands off. The judges obviously like that. Evidenced so far by the high score for Kirsten Van Horn. I know she’s coming off a silver medal last year, but I think she’s the sleeper right now. Not a lot of people saying they think she’s going to win, but she could swoop something up right now. Caroline, when you when you have as much range on a bike as she does, enduro crank works downhill, what does that give you? She’s dangerous. And the more tools you have, the more the mountain opens. So, you’re able to dig into the steep, the tech, the the tricks, it just opens the mountain. There’s a tech drop in right now. Great side profile. You can see how you got to control your speed. Go slow. Now she’s working into the similar territory as Cammy. You can hear the brakes working hard. Georgia actually had a pretty heavy crash only yesterday here off this step down drop coming up. She came up short. So let’s see if she can grease it here today. up here for Georgia. Landing that nice skipping that jump. [Applause] We all held held our breath for that one. It’s a solid sprint. Hands off. That’s what we want to see. Coming down to the last jump. [Applause] [Music] Big big run and she’s staying with Casey. So, they came into the week wanting that camaraderie. She’s had that mental hardship at home and look what she’s done. [Applause] Yeah, good job. [Music] Oh, nice work. That was clean. Yeah. All right, let’s break this down. Caroline smooth into the reader drop right here, which is a feature. She’s the only one riding. She has a step down into the same landing that Cammy hit, but her own takeoff and then into that lemon drop. As you mentioned, she crashed on it yesterday after hitting it a number of times. Perfect here. What do you think about her off of El Presidente here? Ah, so much control. She has that snowboard background as well. So, you can just see in her riding, she steers off that back wheel and really just tilts that bike where she wants to go. And speaking to her earlier in the week, I was surprised by her analytical approach. She puts rocks on course so she knows where those bright breaking markers are. She has rocks to line up her runins and she breaks this entire course down. And that suicide no hand is new for her. She just basically pulled that out of the bag this morning. I just love how good she looks in the air, how comfortable she looks in the air. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. She’s not head bobbing on the landings. As you’ll see here, she did throw in a little bit of style on El Presidente. A little bit of a tabletop there. We saw it best with that head-on angle. But I think these little things matter down at the bottom. She has the tech up top. She’s got the amplitude in the middle. And just getting your hands off a little bit is only going to help. Getting your foot off a little bit is only going to help. All right. Well, yeah, that run definitely had a little bit of everything. The shoot at the top, the giant El Presidentede, the tricks at the bottom. What is your take? Um, it was so fun and I got to link the drop in like our presidente yesterday with Cammy and Chelsea there. So sto so stoked. I mean that was obviously a huge part of the run and get doing it the last day of practice is nerve-wracking but after I did that I felt really good, you know, and we were just talking a little bit ago and there was some uh building going on in the dark last night. Oh yeah, lots of building changes. I mean we had tons of rain which made the building awesome. Practice time was really tough. So builders did a great job when it came to practice. That’s when you have to make tweaks. So we made some tweaks in the dark last night and it worked out. Yeah. And that’s what just shows uh it doesn’t happen until it actually happens when you go uh that big drop is it’s massive. You got the three riders hitting that. Um what did it take to just get those get that process to hit it? Yeah, for me the process was just making sure I had the speed going into it, which was a big tweak that I had to make that jump. That’s the thing. Last year we had a fully fresh venue. We made our features from scratch. This time we reused the drop and the speed was totally wrong. So la yesterday we had to make the call to pull the jump out just to make it so I had the the speed. I could pedal the whole way through a nice hallway to that drop. And then once I made that call, my run just felt immensely flowier. Yeah, I was looking at you practice that uh that drop the other day as well. Uh it just goes to show how much work goes into Red Bull Rampage. Well done on that first run. Thank you so much. All right, SMA. Thank you so much, Tina. You see the shirts Georgia gives me wings. Uh Gully, the the wings in comparison to Hannah Bergman. The wings have been flapping. These two women have been charging their runs. Amazing style control between the two of them. Throwing those little free ride flicks around. Having fun out there. Really smashing those BMS. Solid amplitude from both. Very smooth landings. This is going to be a tough one for the judges. These runs are similar but extremely different in the style of riding that they both bring to the table. So, I’m keen to see what the judges come up with. It’s going to be a close one, though. All right. I’m not going to put you on the spot this time, Gully. We’ll wait for the judges. I wasn’t as good as in practice. I was losing my a little bit down there. Just getting a little like the numbers run up and just behind Hannah Bergman, Georgia slides into second place. Second last year and sitting in second here again. Just shows the judges are really rewarding that backflip. I also like the way as soon as she heard that score, she looked back up to the top. Yeah, right. Can you get those hands off off of Presidente? Because guess what? That would crank that score. So, she’s already starting to think possibly of what it could be as we take a look at our leader, Hannah Bergman. Again, an Achilles injury last year as a boy, as a veteran of the Achilles Club. No fun. An incredible, incredible recovery for her as we head into the top with our defending champ, Robin Gomes. A she is just a name. I’m most excited about putting together a full T2B run. Um I’ve got some trick ideas like the features we’ve got um kind of align with what I want to do. So yeah, just excited to get a rundown. um before Robin interrupted me. Um I mean what hasn’t she done right first black back first backflip at Crank Works obviously the two back flips here heard around the world at uh at at inaugural Rampage for the for the women. What is it about her? She’s really great at capitalizing on opportunities 100%. So, um, right now she was looking to be, you know, biting off the biggest, craziest line to try to win back-to-back years. But the big story is the fact that she had to adjust her plan after that Nikico [ __ ] drop was, you know, just proving to just be too challenging. So, we saw Hannah decided to ride Vaia’s line. She’s sitting in the lead. And now Robin decided to ride Harriet’s line. A line that has a really challenging I would say 135 degree lefthand corner after a steep technical drop going into a big shoot. That’s a big question mark for this run right now. Things we can expect. We can expect tricks. She’s not afraid to go upside down. There is a step down at the bottom of the course that she has prepped. So you see tricks and style score. High fluidity and controls always a strength when it comes to Rob and Goomb. Big question mark for me right now is if she can clean the brown snake you see on that line map right there which comes up at the top of the course. And I think for yesterday it was that strategic line maneuver that she’s changed to Hazard’s course. It’s not weakness. And I think she’s made the right decision out here. Defending champ. We have a mic on Robin. So, we will listen into our defending champ and see how this last minute line change will affect her here on game day. 180 up over that making this look really good. That there’s no real estate up there as she drops into this shoot where it gets nice and playful here. Bringing some speed down. into a bunch of jumps and drops. [Applause] Come on. Back flip. Bobby at it again. Wow. After the noander and that top part was so rowdy. Oh, a little crank flip. There’s three tricks in this run already. Cam, she’s got more. Oh. Woo! That was great. She’s coming down to the lower section here. Stepping it down with a lot of control. As we saw on social media, she’s expecting something big here. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I don’t know about you, but I got goosebumps. So many personal fear moments just in the demon silenced that back flip on the step down. She crashed an Insbook Crank Works. She only just conquered that yesterday. She had to pivot and adapt to Hazard’s line. her friend crashed and was out yesterday. So many moments. So much to talk about here. Did you see the front brake nose pivot to get around that right hand corner here? They adjusted the line late last night, early this morning to make this work. Such a great idea to be able to improvise and make that line work. I was thinking her chances were going to be smoked because of how challenging that adaptation was once she decided not to ride the [ __ ] drop. But look at all the tricks she packed in here. And look at the execution of them. Good suicide nohander. Perfect backflip straight to the top of the LZ. And another suicide noander coming into the final section of this course. I don’t know about you two, but I was feeling what she must be feeling. It’s just this superhuman potential of winning rampage and feeling like there’s nothing in your way. It was so flawless. I actually started to get nervous as she was coming into the bottom cuz I was like, I would my central nervous system would have just gone on override. Yeah. And for her, she has that military background. She’s got that warrior. She’s a Kiwi. And you see it in these moments. She’s a performer. She rises to the occasion. And she just linked five tricks in a run. Robin Goomb, the defending champion. But let’s talk about that top section first. I was watching you late last night as you were trying to figure out how did you make it work when it mattered. Yeah, I had a bit of a lastm minute feature change to get off the top of the hill. Uh so last night we were testing it for the first time. Didn’t really know how it was going to work. It wasn’t quite right. So we tested it just before dark. My boys have been out there like not even my boys. So many teams kind of came together to help us get that bench in after. And honestly, I have so many teams to thank for like finishing the line this morning. Did you even get a chance to go top to bottom practice that at all this morning? Yeah, just before the run first time, but not only that top section and then you just jam-packed it full of tricks. Uh, how would you assess that run? I don’t know how to assess that, but that was my goal for my first run. I’m really stoked to do everything I wanted to do. I feel good about it, so hopefully everyone else does, too. Oh, I’m sure they do. Uh, coming back as the defending champion, what has the pressure been like? Has there been any pressure on you? Yeah, of course there’s pressure. Like, there’s I mean, it’s internal. I put a lot of pressure on myself. um not so much external but there’s a lot of I mean there’s a there’s a lot of expectation now you know like you’ve done it once you can do it again and everyone wants to see that happen I want to see it happen so yeah just making it work well Robin go trying to I’d say you were trying and you accomplished it that was a phenomenal first run thank you stoked thank you Tina the key thing there for me was that’s what I wanted for my first run we will go to Jeff Gullivich for some comp compare and contrast with our leader Hannah Bergman. Honestly, that run was absolutely electric. If you’re asking me, that will probably slaughter in the first. Honestly, two back flips, two suicide, no handers, even a fun crank flip right in there. That entire bench cut is right up against significant exposure. And she rode that with confidence. Even just the little nose pick at the top to turn into a line. Do you know how difficult that is when your heart is at 160 BPM? Um, I cannot believe how well Robin held this run together and I personally would be surprised if she did not jump into first place right now. I’m blown away. Great job, Robin. Thank you, Jeff. We love when you put it on the line. Show us your expertise. Will the judges agree? Our defending champ. The numbers running up and 8950. So that puts her in a first by like a very little bit like less than 02. Wow. 17. We got a ver virtual tie. We have a slope style battle right here with these tricks. And what I love to see is last year Robin won with an 85 and she’s now coming in with a first run at an 89. It shows the level. We’ve gone up this year. All the way up. All the way up. Oh, why did they get out? Oh, after one run, we promised you that the women were not playing around. Robin Gomes, defending champ in first, followed by Hannah Bergman and Georgia Ael in third. Camino Gara, she could easily squeeze up there. And again, that’s just run one coming into run number two. Look at this. Just 666 separating fourth place from that podium spot in third. And then just that.17 separating the silver from the gold. Man, you know what? If you’re going to beat Hannah Bergman’s run, you’re going to have to do as many tricks as Robin did. I think the technicality of the top really helped her out just filling in that full package. But if you’re Hannah Bergamman, Caroline, what are you thinking going up there for second run trying to beat Robin Coons to score? I mean, Hannah’s going up there now and she’s digging into that bag of tricks and saying, “I know there’s more that I can bring.” And I know she’s got some little moves that she can bring out. And just you look at this. This is a truly global field. And it goes obviously rookie vet, rookie vet, rookie vet. It’s It’s a pretty even lineup. Well, as we mentioned earlier, this crowd, they were here at dark getting their position. Some in the finish line, some way up on top of the mountain. They got what they paid for for sure. And we’re not done. Who is going to leave as our 2025 Women’s Red Bull Rampage Champion here on day one? We’re going to rerack them and send it back up to the top. Get your refreshments. Get yourself together and get in your seats cuz we got more Rampage coming back at you. for all the riders. Introducing new privilege KOend I did. Did you? What’s the bag lunch? Lunch. No, I ordered a wrap. I was trying to think soggy bread. But if there’s tomato in it, it’s going to be soggy. Let’s start with the chips. Oh, chips are always good. Chia, but the one is touching History made here for Hannah Bergman as she dropped in at her first Red Bull Rampage. Bergman is one of the most influential athletes in the sport, sharing her passion and progression with the next generation of riders. I feel like events like this are really important to bridge the gap between discovering free ride and wanting to pursue it and then getting to these highlevel events. Then to get into that space, you need to have these opportunities to even discover if it’s something you want to pursue. [Music] [Applause] My name is Hannah Bergamman. I’m 28 years old and I’m from Hud River, Oregon and now live in Bellingham, Washington. I would say my strengths are in steep techy stuff. Hannah is just very dialed. Like she’s calculated and she understands what she needs to apply. On the outside, she’s always so calm and collected. I don’t know what happens in her head. I think she’s just put a lot of effort into whatever process she uses to do the thing she wants to do. I always say that I think that she’s the best free rider in the world. She’s so complete. She have everything. Does she have all the skills? She’s got more send than me. I would say equally calm, cool, collected. Little more sand. I can’t believe we’re already back here in September and leading into rampages in less than a month. We’re going to be out there digging. So exciting to come back for the second year is pretty dreamy. Last year I was hobbling around with a boot on and this year I’m hoping to be fully sending it down the mountain on my bike. The moment that I got injured, that was the first thought that came to my mind. I’m going to miss Rampage. And it was absolutely devastating. The first year I really been looking forward to, been dreaming about and was like so excited about this invitation. So then to have it kind of taken away from me was very heartbreaking. Being at Rampage was actually a really awesome experience. Getting to watch the girls compete for the first time and kill it was 100% positive. I had such an awesome time. The girls showed everyone that they are meant to be there. All of them wrote amazing. So watching them fulfill that dream and bring it to fruition was just as sweet as if I had been out there too. Now it’s just like, yeah, now we’re going to take it to the next level. [Applause] My dad got me into mountain biking and then people in the community where I grew up were the ones that kind of got me hooked on it. And then I tried racing and doing these other things. Along the way, I had different communities that were guiding me, but I never really had like that free ride role model or community, I would say. One of the biggest goals of my career, be that mentor for them and create a good community and space for them to evolve into and take the sport to the next level. I created Hang Time in 2021. I just kind of wanted an excuse to like invite my friends to come ride with me on these big jumps, get everyone together, and invite kind of all the up andcoming riders, ride together, learn from each other, grow the sport, build the community. That’s kind of where the name Hang Time came from, cuz it’s a play on catching air on your bike. And then also spending time together, community building, connecting. I feel like I met a lot of my really close friends through hang time actually. I just want girls to come and ride with me and they came and like we’re close and it’s the best honestly. It’s so amazing. She’s one of the girls that care the most about other riders and gave them the opportunity to be part of these kind of events and be be part of the mountain bike community in general. But that’s what makes Hang Time so cool is that Hannah gives the opportunity for riders of quite a few different levels in their career to come together and ride and progress and just get whatever out of it that they want. They can see there’s space for everyone and as long as you’re fired up, it’s going to work out. [Music] Feels amazing to be able to be that mentor that I didn’t really have getting into the sport and provide that for them. And there’s a few girls who kind of started by coming to my event, Hang Time. Kaia and Lucy and Janelle are great examples. Janelle’s in Rampage this year. Ka and Lucy were on the alternate list. Just an example of how by letting them into the space by providing them with a solid platform, they can decide that like, yes, this is something I want to pursue and then pursue it and take it to bigger things. Like a big goal of mine is to try and create space for the next generation of riders. This is one way I can give back to them. But also, I just love it, too. [Music] Utah. It’s the one and only home of Red Bull Rampage. For 24 years, these rugged Red Rock cliffs have set the stage for the most jaw-dropping moments in mountain biking history. Of course, thanks to the Fearless Athletes rewriting these limits of what’s possible. And for 25 years, the Utah Sports Commission has built the state into a global destination for sports and entertainment. From the Red Bull Soapbox race to action sports and endurance events, Utah is the state of sport. Run two of Red Bull Rampage is next. Here we go. [Music] [Music] [Music] Welcome back to Virgin, Utah. Day one of Red Bull Rampage 2025 and the women have come out firing. Look at the smallest gap between first and fourth place. Robin Gomes, our defending champ, Hannah Bergman, Georgia Axel, and Cammy Ngera all fighting it out. But any can anything can happen in run two uh with Kirsten Van Horn, Vinnie Armstrong, and Janelle Sukup. Salma Masakella here with Cam McCall and Caroline. Um, off the bat, I just have to say this. For anyone who thought that last year’s performance in the inaugural women’s rampage was a fluke, and if you were still a hater, questioning whether or not these women not only belong here, but are driving the entirety of free ride bike culture, that’s a wrap. You are not allowed to talk anymore. Cancelled. You are completely cancelled. I mean, can you believe what we saw in just run one? Whether it’s the women’s or the men’s category, early in the week, you think, is any of this even possible? And now after run one for the women, you’re like, okay, maybe there should be more than one of these a year because it’s 100% possible. And then you’re also thinking less about whether or not they can make it to the finish corral. And you’re looking at the scores going, what can they do to improve? That is such a different mindset to be in than what we were in an hour ago. And even from last year, the riders didn’t take their second run. So, here we are, year number two, and these ladies going back up for another run. I mean, that’s it’s iconic. It’s progression. It It really is. And to think about how much was overcome this week, how many riders had to, you know, Robin having to make a a last minute change in her run last night, digging into the dark, the amount of of of slams and injuries that had to be recovered with Cammy with a dislocated elbow three days ago with a shot at at being on the leaderboard. Yeah. And you might think this is risky or this is insanity, but this is Friday in Utah. Yeah. It’s uh it’s the roller coaster of rampage. I think every year you look back to the beginning and you see the things that didn’t pan out. Examples here in our women’s venue is the, you know, the princess drop, the Nico [ __ ] drop. It’s, you know, there’s a long story about that name, but basically it’s a drop that is not going to get hit here in the event. And earlier on, you’re like, it’s impossible for them to abandon that. But things that are unexpected take place and the riders are forced to adjust and that’s what they did. Now, this crowd again uh making the right choice early on, sold out real quick. Folks have been out here since dark and they are not disappointed. Now, we know that the judges have locked in their vote, but you you the people, we would like to hear from you. The judges have their scores. want to know what you think as the best run of the day. You can go to rebel.com/vote rampage or simply scan this QR code that is on your screen from your phone. You get two votes total. So enjoy watching the second runs and be sure to cast your votes. Very impressive uh some of the layouts folks, you know, with full picnics. I see I seen shakureri boards out there today. Like people really taking their their rampage sideline activity serious. Yeah. I mean the riders aren’t the only ones who learned from previous years and progress their game. Take a look at the glamping scene down there. And for me, this is my first experience. So I can just speak on like ah to be a fan here and just soak it all up. Like I got to catch up with one of the sherpers. They take the bikes to the top of the hill every single time for the riders. And we crunched the Strava numbers and I said, “Over these seven days, how many times did you go up this hill and it was 32,000 vertical feet?” So they’re summoning the equivalent of Everest. And that’s just the team. Super chill normal. as we see how they’re going to start here in run two. Janelle Sukup followed by Vinnie Armstrong, Kristen Van Horn, Kami, Georgia Ael, Hannah Bergman, and of course our leader, Robin Gomes. Expectations um for for the second run, how do you think the riders will adjust and step up? So you think about the things you know and right now we know that Georgia’s cozy with those suicide nohanders. Can she do it on El Presidentede? That’s next level. It’s not just a clean click and drag. You need to think about Kirsten Van Horn. She’s got more in the tank in the tricks category as well. These are the moments that that fear turns to flow for an athlete and the champions will rise or they’ll fall. And I think these are the moments that we’ll see these riders. They’re either going to step up. There’s some athletes like Kirsten Van Horn that has flipped. So if she leans into this opportunity, she can move up the ladder. All right. Uh Jeff Golovich has updated his ratings there on the bottom of that graphic for Janelle based on the first run. Again, Janelle Sukup is a rookie. This is her birthday weekend representing Centennial Colorado and she she she might be a rookie, but her comfort like the the chill that she displays definitely says that she’s been here before and she’s going to be here again. That’s what’s exciting is watching a Red Bull Rampage rookie like Janelle and thinking what the future has in store. Here we go. Let’s listen in. We’re getting close. Yeah, she’s she’s miked up. Hey, when she’s not riding, this woman is in school studying mechanical engineering and she’ll be heading right back to college after this. That’s the next generation of free ride. Talk about that. She’s also fluent in Polish. I mean, this girl has so many hidden talents. How many of her classmates are doing this? So, she’s just going to want to clean up the execution from her run number one. Stepping up back up on the ridge. Looking very good. Janelle’s going to want to start with adding a little bit more to her run, throwing into more tricks, building like that little transfer line. Now she sets up for the big drop here. Yep. Car good speed and a good float off of that drop. Hope to see a little extra out of her on that. More tricks. That gets us down into this last jump was a big win. Nice. Nice. Just coming down and showing you guys. I got two more. Holy. I made it down again. That’s awesome. Charging for her first year at the future is bright for this one. Let’s hear from the 19year-old. [Applause] Holy canoli. I made it down again. The little yays were everything for me. Her youth mind and just energy shines through. Remember, she was the 2024 Spirit Award in comfort level. Yeah. Strong. How about the way she was hyping herself up into the drop? All right, let’s go. Let’s go. Oh, sorry. No way. [Music] If that’s casual for her, just think about what the next few years are going to look like. Think about what she said at the bottom and run number one. It there were more expletives, right? And then second run, she’s just like, “Oh my gosh, maybe that was maybe that was just fun.” Yeah, maybe this is my new normal. Yes. And those moments where she was talking to herself, this is no joke. There is an element of risk. So she has that respect for the mountain and there those reminder points that she’s like, “Okay, I’ve got to chill. I got to be in the moment. It’s time to execute.” So even though she might be giggling and having fun, like shows that experience well above her age. Crazy is only relative to what you’re used to. And she’s used to this now. Take your your average mountain biker. Now, let’s take like your good mountain biker in any trail community around the world and and ask them to ride off of that hoff drop. You’re not going to get too many people doing that. And she’s doing it while kind of just cheering herself on and laughing, saying, “Holy canoli.” That huge whip. Is that canoli a dessert? Is that what it is? I think so. Yes. Pretty cool. I’m hungry. They’re very good. I can order some up. I’ll I’m going to do it right now. 75.66. So, bumps it up.33, but Janelle Sukup is officially a comfortable Rampage rider. To be continued. She’s so fun to watch. She can be so proud. Her goal was just to keep it fun. She picked a dig team that she likes, her friends, and she’s executed as we get set for Vinnie Armstrong on this second run. Again, absolutely picture perfect day. We were battling some little bit of wind early on, but uh that sun came out and said, “Tranilo, relax.” And uh just perfect conditions here for run two of Rampage as Vinnie Armstrong out of Queenstown, New Zealand. So you see the adjustment here to that baseline expectation. And you see the bump up in tricks and style due to the fact that she dropped a foot on her hip jump amplitude. She went pretty deep on a landing. So she got a little bit of a bump there compared to what they were expecting out of run number one. Now we got to think what do we expect out of run number two. What can she do to improve that 78.66. I love how you how you can see uh the tricks and style and amplitude bump up that goalie gives in comparison to the first run on that graphic and the judges take everything into consideration how much she attacks these sections. Does she come to a complete stop anywhere? That is the fluidity aspect of the criteria. really smooth breaking control. Cam, you can see it shows she’s had those all four formation attendants, which was the progressionary to get into this main show of Rampage. Dropping the foot again. You see her higher up, cracking a little bit more of a table on some of those smaller features. Let’s see what she does here off the Hoff 38 ft point to point. There we go. She was higher up the landing there. Run number one. She sent it a bit deep. And man, now she’s bringing it into the smooth. Can we pull out any tricks on this last jump? There you go. One hand, one leg dangle. It’s going to elevate her score. Stoked absolutely. [Music] I love how she squeezed literally all the juice out of the bottom. She’s like, I’m here to have fun. Watching her ride does definitely make me want to go ride though. That’s for sure. It works. Opting for the no glove option. She’s a Kiwi. She’s keeping it raw. One thing I love about watching Mini Ride is she’s so much control. The way that these riders set up their bikes, they have stiffer suspension to allow for these huge drops. They might opt in a higher tire pressure as well to allow for the big impacts on course. Some opting for that triple crown, some going for a single, but he’s got that doubled crown. That was sick. Almost a little bit more of a table flare there rather than the one foot euro, meaning that the bars are turning away from the direction she’s hipping into that landing. She reminds me Riddle. for sure. And here we’ll get a nice look at the one side or dropping the left hand and the left foot. She just dropped the foot in run number one. So you see the hand come off. Ideally wanting to really lean that bike over and let those limbs just dangle from the underside of the bike. Great slow-mo glimpse at that. So, that will be an improvement from run number one on a couple of the jumps there, but will it be enough to bump up the score and change her ranking? Let’s see. Yes, it is. Bumps up to an 80 for Vinnie Armstrong. So, the judges noting those improvements in the trick zone. Three. Yeah, as you can see, that veteran experience, three years of formation, two years of rampage, and she was able to go, I’ve got more tricks in the bag. Let’s bump this score as we head back up to the top. But to your point again as we see Kristen Van Horn about to drop in, we were not doing this last year. We were done. It was a wrap after one run. Good point. TV ready. Remember in our first run, Kirsten was first to go and we were when we were battling that wind and she was up there for about a full seven to 10 minutes as as we were literally vamping to to make room for the wind to leave and as soon as that stop number 12 Kirsten Van Horn Kristen dropped in two and said let let me set the table for the rest of you ladies and she over delayed. delivered on what the judges were expecting. She suicide noh handered the hoff drop. Does she have any more surprises for us here? And she was the rookie that unlocked this beline Brandon Simc feature. Very nice. Really far to the back of the bike right there. Looking cozy. She looks composed for me. She’s always that one to watch and she’s a champion that’s been formed when these grand stands were empty. I know she’s done the work at home and has more tricks in her bag. She comes down into the BMS. And now we’ve got her biggest drop. Oh yeah. Yes. Awesome. Awesome. Huge air as she comes down into the bottom into her final jump of her run. Here’s the opportunity. All right. Oh, another suicide. No hander. So, she’s going to raise that trick score and she’s going to be so proud of that. Her whole dig team has such big camaraderie. She’s got her partner in a digger. So, they’re a complete power couple. And talk about that emotional support throughout a massive rookie week. KVH with another full pull. [Applause] They are stoked in Nelson from British Columbia. I’ve been getting the texts. And over in BC, she actually had Curt Zogi’s shovels. So that’s throwback to nostalgia. How chill does she make that look? So we already knew that in order to improve on her run one score, she was going to need to get the hands off on the Hoff step down the 38 foot pointto-point step down we’re seeing here. What do you think? A little bit more extension here. She held it a little bit longer and maybe sailed a little bit further down that landing. I think so. And then we knew this was the biggest opportunity for her here. This trick jump. She has a lot more tricks than what we have seen. It’s hard to put tricks into a rampage run. But here’s where the opportunity existed. And super smart decision here to go for another nohander. We’re wondering if she maybe was considering going upside down, which would have scored higher than another suicide no-hander, but 100% looking at that head-on view. The arms were even more extended than run number one. It’s like some Kyle Straight Sueie action right there. But yeah, so tough to get the right speed into that final trick jump. She did it flawlessly. That no handle was something that we haven’t seen in women’s before. So, she’s got to be proud of that huge feat regardless. Running the numbers up. And again, another improvement, two in a row as she bumps up to that 84.50. I know Kurt Sorgi, who’s celebrating uh his new child at home and couldn’t be down for this rampage. He is definitely clapping up in Nelson for KVH. Kirsten Van Horn. What up, Sorgi? Remember, you can go to rebel.com to vote. It’s not just the judges. You get to participate. Uh or you can just do this right now. Scan that QR code and vote from your phone. Remember, you get two opportunities to vote for your favorite rider of the day. Get involved, friends. So far, uh look at that. Robin Gomes, our defending champ, getting the overwhelming vote so far. But that is subject to change if you get involved. Friends, is this the the viewers agreeing with the judges? What? What? At Rampage. What’s happening? 2025. Shock. The day is young. The day is We love you all out there. Thanks for watching. We love that you care so much. Thanks for the keeping it spicy. You know, speaking of spicy, it’s hot up. Yeah. I didn’t I didn’t even do that on purpose. But yes, that is Cami Noetta. And as she said, the top of her run is spicy. Remember, she is within striking distance of ready leader of of the podium. What What could we see to change that to get her up in that? She’s only 66 off the podium. She has such a tech line. We know scores will see what she can add to it. Listen in. coming straight down the gut into this steep roll in right here. This is an early one. This one really got her a lot of points as she holy ste on the hill right there. She just made that look pretty good. Dislocated elbow. No problem. I like this little cruiser right here. gives her time to set up for a couple of these big drops as she gets down to the presidente. So there you go. That’s a big one there. Skipping the jump again so that she can stay on the drop. Look at her pedaling, bro. [Music] President does not disappoint on [Applause] [Applause] into the finish line. around full. Caminoa dislocated elbow three days ago. Cannot say it enough. [Applause] She was able to get those two new tricks out with the no handers and that just shows riding hardline, winning natural selection. She’s caught upon all those moments. It was completely her wheelhouse and she just ticked it off and leaded leaned into this moment. There’s something within her that’s different. So much fortitude. And the craziest part about trying to improve upon this run is the fact that you got to do all this hard stuff again and then try to find opportunities at the bottom to sprinkle some spice and increase that score. It is no easy task to link all these top features, especially President. Did you see how early she got on the pedals in the runin? Yeah, I mean she had to. So, originally herself and Georgia Ael were hitting that step up coming into it and she jumped up to that top left line to say, you know what, we need all the speed we can get. So, she sprinted around that feature and I think if they stuck to their original line, they probably would have cased and that would have been a a rough ride. So, change of plan. All right, I’m coming off the air here. I missed the nohander on the step down before this. Let’s just try to get him off here with another opportunity. I saw that. I was going to ask you if she was if she had thought about a no-hander and then the very next jump, boom. I think she got about nine fingers off and luckily had another opportunity. Let’s not remember. She had that big crash last year that took her out. So, this moment of emotion is a Red Bull rampage first for her. All right. I think she’s got something nice in that cup and she’s earned it. Gully, thoughts. That was excellent. Camdy definitely stepped up that run there. She charged the Brown Snake entrance or sorry, her shoot, the Romero Santos entrance with so much more authority. She held it together. It looked amazing. Kept that speed ac across the bench cut. Uh came in hot to El Presidentede. Added a no-hander in one of the step downs down below. I think that was a significant improvement. I don’t know to what position it will bump her up to, but I can guarantee you it’s massive improvement through my eyes. Thank you, Gully. What it would mean to Cammy Ngera after last year’s slam, the dislocated elbow this year to make her way into the podium. This is what the judges judges are looking at in real time and they’re comparing her to Georgia. Is there 66 of an improvement in here? Georgia sitting on the 87.66 from run number one. Cammy sitting on the 87. It’s so crazy to think that these runs were both so technical and they charged them so hard that we’re really it’s coming down to these nohanders and these one-footers. Yeah, Georgia had that leg dangle versus Cammy opted for the suicide noander. Now, people debate over tricks at Rampage, and you’re only really letting these tricks be the determining factors when the baseline of NAR has already been elevated to where it is right now. The baseline of NAR coming to a theater near you. Control the chaos or the chaos controls you. Oh, all right, Gully. We saw the side by side videowise. We’re going to let you get into the technical side here. Yeah, absolutely. I think this one’s really going to come down to the entrance move between these athletes. Personally, I think Cammy’s entrance was much more technical. Georgia’s is like I don’t want to bring it down. It’s very, very straight, very solid. Camies takes a little more commitment to get into make it around down that shoot holding your traction into kind of the drop entrance there maintaining your speed onto that bench cut. So that is really the separator for me but let’s see what the judges come up with. I mean this is very exciting stuff right here. I’m blown away with what everybody’s doing right now and to put numbers and scores behind it. Tough stuff. Well that’s why we just get your perspective. I mean, we’re already splitting hairs with the there’s only 66 separating. Now, we’re taking those hairs and splitting them again. I’d agree with that. The Romeo Santos entry is, as Cammy put it, very spicy. Can you see how she has to basically stay under control and then make a turn as she’s entering the steepest part of the shoot where the tires actually leave the ground? And Cully pointed out that she was able to do it in the second run with more control than the first time. And this landscape is truly unrelenting. So, I mean, this is going to put the pressure on Georgia right here. It’s going to bump her off the podium if Cammy’s able. She’s paying attention. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And this is where we get to see the competition part flare up. These women are all all for one and have been working with each other. This is an endurance event we’ve mentioned. But now on game day, now we’re starting to see as it’s running up here numbers for Kami Noera and 87.33. [Music] Not enough to knock Georgia out of third place. Nonetheless, podium or not, winner, as you see, you just watched Georgia breathe a sigh of relief up top. And you can see on Georgia’s face, she actually had a crash earlier this week. And that cut on her nose is a result of it. Well, the battle for Bronze is determined right here. George Ael sighing relief there, but still the battle for the win exists. I wonder if it was that first attempt at the no-hander that wasn’t quite committed that made the difference. I wonder, right? Like if you just don’t even try and just and just stay stylish. George’s ready. As Georgia 3, two, she doing a sired she’s she’s already in celebration mode on the podium. Let’s see how much fun she decides to have with it. And who knows, she may be thinking, “Look at this. I got some secrets. I’m going to go for the win.” Got to move up a position or two. You see how much control she has from that snowboard and just the ski terrain. She said the hardest thing when she came to the desert was having no trees. She didn’t have that gauge of a normal bike park. She didn’t have the trees going by to judge that distance. [Music] So fast is looking smooth. Cam, I love how she times her pedals there. Oh, that was almost too short. She going to hold that extension even further. With only two more riders to go, she is guaranteed a position on the podium. Which one will it be? [Music] [Applause] Ghost ride it. Ghost ride it. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Sorry, my arms are tired. [Applause] I used all my arm strengths up there. Backto back podiums. Congratulations, Georgia Atol. What an iconic moment. Look at this. She almost went too slow for El Presidentede. We’re going to get a good glimpse of it here in this replay. We’ve seen them sailing down the landing. That was right at the top. Kissing the knuckle. This is a game of inches. I mean, one over breaking or one mistake or one less pedal can be 10 to 20 foot on a landing. So, it all adds up. Another six inches back and the mood could be much different. Yeah. Exactly. But you know what? I think she knew exactly where she was going. That’s a symptom of having hit that feature so many times. They sessioned it last night in practice. And just 10 years ago, I think it was only hit once, maybe twice. And for Georgia and Casey, they shared a house, they shared chef. And I think to have that focus on that camaraderie and happiness, she can bring a podium medal home. Well, in Georgia up at the top, it was a celebration, yet you continued your run to get down here to the bottom, finish on the podium. How rewarding is this? I think the most rewarding thing is just seeing all the girls stomp their runs. We can all be so proud of that because that was such a tough week. Absolute roller coaster of a rampage. We had rain delays. We missed practice. Everyone had to change their lines up. So, I’m so proud of us. And that was such a sick year, too. Well, absolutely. We still have a few more riders to go, but uh congrats on that podium result. Thank you so much, Dina. They are happy in Whistler, BC. Whistler as they should be. Georgia Athl gives us wings and she will stick in that first score of 87.66. An incredible performance. [Music] second in 2024, third this year. Podium perfect with these next two riders to drop. Bergman and Goomb. Now we’re in it. Now we’re in it. This is far from over. Yo, both of these women want this so badly. back to back for Gomes would be incredible. But for Hannah, after last year when she was coming in here as the one to win and then tearing her Achilles, she has unfinished business. She has thought about this and worked all year for this moment. TV ready. Polar opposite stories for these two. Listen, Robin, I know you got you got yours. I’m trying to get mine. one. Well, she looks so incredibly determined. I’m so curious to what she plans to add to this run. She’s going to be riding this as fast as she can. What are you looking for, Cam? Well, she rode all the tech pits with precision last time, so I’m thinking she’s planning to throw some tricks maybe here. Looks like she was considering pitching the seat there. That would have been a really good call. the range. There’s still time with these drops coming through. Oh, there we go. A T-Bob taking the hand off and grabbing her seat. Every opportunity she has right now, she’s going to try to get a limb off and she still needs to get that back flip down there. She had a big crash on that ridge line in practice earlier this week. So, it hasn’t been a smooth ride. Well, that’ll help her slow down for this jump. Still goes for the flip. That’s a moment that probably that case actually helped her slow down. So she had that quick reset moment to go I’m going to break less. I’ve just cased and still good for a backflip. This is going to be really interesting. Only.17 separating them. Basically the only upgrade was that tobogen. Is a toboggan worth.17. [Applause] [Music] Definition of stoke, especially for the long road comeback from last year. [Music] [Applause] [Music] So good. What’s that sign say? Sim wears Hannah Bee’s panties. I was going to say you might want to read it before you start saying it on the broadcast. Mrs. Rampage. All right, break down this top section. She was hoping to get something on that Canyon Gap after the Vaia entry. She was hoping to get a little tobogen, which she did. She needed the flip. Look, take a look. We’re going to really be able to get that drop. She was able to get pointers from Vaia, who crashed on that feature, and Via said, “You’re just going to need to pop that little bit more.” And that’s what she did. I mean, she overshot that canyon gap in run number one. So, maybe she’ll brush up her fluidity score by bringing it more to the top of the landing, but it was almost kind of short as well. And like even though this was functional in slowing her down, the judges aren’t going to love a little bit of a tag on that landing really comes down. What do you think, Caroline? I think the only thing she added there was that little tobogen up on the small popper on the ridge. I agree. Is it going to be enough? I think for Hannah, she’s she’s won the week. She wanted to come in. She had that strategic approach. This is a milestone accomplishment for her and all week she’s stuck to her schedule. She’s stuck to the plan. And I just see this like strategic calculated execution. She’s going to be so proud. And Hannburgman, two top to bottoms here at Red Bull Rampage. What did today mean for you? Well, that was it means everything. It’s Yeah, I so surreal. I can’t even have words for it right now. Definitely didn’t I be beyond exceeded my expectations. So, I’m so happy. You know, when you come down and you see the support that’s here at the finish line, how do you describe that? That’s what makes this this happen. That’s why we’re here. All the support is how we do this. So, it’s a team effort. Even though you’re seeing us come down one by one, it’s there’s so much support here to to help us succeed. You know, it wasn’t that long ago that formation started and you guys just took a look at this mountain and said, “Okay, what is possible to go from that moment to now? What’s that journey been like?” Yeah, it’s been such a wild progression journey. Like just in a very short amount of time, the girls have ramped things up beyond I think what anyone expected and yeah, now now it’s just we’re here. You are here and you are putting on a show, everyone. Well done, Hannah. Thank you so much. Well, we’ve speculated plenty and you see Hannah saying, “I’m I’m complete. I I I did what I needed to do.” The joy of being able to get to the two full runs, but Robin is up there wondering as we run the numbers. [Music] Identical. Oh, yeah. And so Robin Gomes will be our back-to- back champion by.33 points. [Music] Let’s go. And what a huge feat. The only other rider in the history of Rampage, Brandon Simk, to go backto back gold. Oh, how do you even lock in now and settle the nerves? I have no idea. I mean, for your victory lap. [ __ ] died. You’re You’re at the top. What do you do now? Added to the list, huh? Think about the accomplishments. [ __ ] rare and I don’t want to do it. Hey, Robin. Robin Gomes. This is CMA Masella. I’m down here with Cam McCall and Caroline Buchanan. I just wanted to let you know that you are the 2025 backto back champion of Red Bull Rampage. Insane. Thank you. Yeah, Robin, how do you even settle in now uh to take your victory lap? How do I Sorry, I said how do you settle in now to take your victory lap, bro? I’ve just I was just prepping for my second run and it was getting me real real amped up. I was like, we got to go big. So, huge relief to be up here and know that I don’t have to do that. I’m going to just cruise my way down this hill. Well, we’re going to lay out and let you enjoy the ride, but congratulations. We know the hard work, especially with everything that happened this week and having to change the line, etc. Uh, truly incredible performance. Thank you so much. Enjoy the ride. We’ll see you down at the bottom. Oh yeah. TV ready. Is the champ ready? The champ is ready. Yeah. Rider number one. Oh, you’re good. Robin goons. Sorry. Two. One victory lap for Rob. Oh man, this has got to feel so good. [Applause] Yep. That was the drop that took Haz out earlier today. You know what’s crazy? Just because you’ve done it before doesn’t make any of this easy. There’s nothing chill about what she’s doing. It’s like, okay, cool. Celebrate for a second. Now focus. And out of all the runs, this line had the only screenshoot, that open raw section, which she said she was enjoying in the end. Ready to go. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a full victory lap for Robin Goos from Rooua, New Zealand. An incredible performance. And when we think about the entirety of our field, as Robin celebrates, no crashes from any of our women. And we had to wait until right now to say that. I know we we didn’t even say it off camera. We’ve all been thinking it. What an incredible day. Oh, what a feat. You don’t want to have any defensive writing out here. The girls were all in. They played to win. They were offensive. They respected this landscape and that showed. And what a moment. Yeah. No. No safety dances were done today. Robin Goomb’s coming back and defending your title here at Red Bull Rampage. Uh what a first run. What a first run. What were your expectations? Um all I wanted to do is get from top to bottom and do everything I knew I could. Um, and I managed to do that. I’m really stoked. This was such a roller coaster week for many of the women. We had crashes. There was weather. Uh, changes at the very last minute on your line. Uh, today there were no crashes from the women. Everyone shined at the right time. Um, why do you think that was from everyone? Honestly, yeah, it’s been a a massive roller coaster this week for everybody. Um, today the conditions are perfect. The girls were locked in. Everyone was focused. Like every single rider killed it today. And I just think the vibes were high. Conditions were great. There was no reason for everyone to not get a good line. You look at last year and it was such a big statement the first year for Red Bull Rampage, but that was just the beginning. You backed that up. Where do you see this going from here? I mean, it’s insane. like we had so many more riders this year and so many more hungry riders that want to be here and I can’t wait to see where it goes, you know, and also this is you guys are making uh you’re building a foundation for many of the younger generations coming up. Uh what does that mean to you? I think it’s cool to be a part of that. It’s really special. Um and I just like I’m excited to see the next generations because they’re already like shredding. All right. Well, there you have it. A massive second win here at Red Bull Rampage. Congratulations, Robin Goomes. So, all right. Smma. Shridden shredding her way back to the top. Robin Gomes is our champion. Congrats to the entirety of our field once again. We will be back shortly with the post show. But first, I got a question for you. Are you interested in winning a 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor equipped with a 3 L V6 EcoBoost, a purpose-built suspension boasting a wider track width, and more ground clearance, begging you to unleash the beast? Did I mention it? It features different seven different drive modes, including Baja mode for your high-speed desert runs. I don’t know about you, but I’m sold. I’m going to buy one. You guys have the opportunity to win one. Uh, so get get involved. Here’s our final results once again. Robin Goobs defend Robin Goombs, our defending champ, Hannibburgman, Georgia Ael Kami Noetta. Congratulations to her. What a performance. Kristen Van Horn, Vinnie Armstrong, Janelle Sukup, as Robin said. All the women ripped today, top to bottom. And Robin Gomes just had the ability to stand 10 toes down and defend her championship. We’ll be back to break it all down. This has been an incredible start to Red Bull Rampage 2025. Remember friends, it’s just day one. We’re coming back with the men on Sunday, but stick around for our post show. We got plenty of other awards to give away and of course celebrate our podium. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Red Bull Rampage 2025 day one. Uh there is now finally peace in the valley because it has been lit here in Virgin. The women putting on a legendary show. Robin Gomes, our defending champion, backing it up. Salma Masacella here with Ken McCall and Caroline Buchanan. Uh I’m going to start with the rookie first if you don’t mind. Our our our not a rookie, you’re an Olympian and eighttime uh world champion, but rookie to Rampage. Your overall thoughts. Insane. But just another Friday here in Utah. So, you know what? I’m glad I’m here in the hot seat and uh not up there on the hill. Full respect to these ladies and with Robin. I mean, last year she had lifechanging money. $100,000. She invested back into herself and back into her compound. She bought property. She invested into what has now given her a backto-back win. So that just shows she’s reinvesting back in. And what’s she going to add to her compound now? Cam about Robin specifically. She just went backto back consecutive Red Bull Rampage champion. It took 20 calendar years until a rider in the men’s field was able to do that. With that aside, just the men’s field and the women’s field, I don’t know if we’ve ever had a Red Bull Rampage where nobody crashed in the men’s field to this day. And that’s what we just saw, which was absolutely unprecedented. So, the level of competition in general, that was a world-class competition right there in the sporting world. I don’t care what other sport you’re comparing it to, that was incredible. Yeah, for me, it’s definitely got to be Caminoa and and Hannah being able to overcome injury. Obviously, the Achilles was a year ago, but Camino Gera to have a dislocated left elbow three days ago get that thing thrown back in and put in the performance where she just missed the podium. Incredible. Uh we’ll go up to the top to another McCall, Tyler McCall, you’ve been watching in the field. I your your thoughts, sir. I feel like I mean, what can be said that hasn’t been said already? That was amazing to have a full field all riders take a second run. Not a single crash. They were not taking it easy. They were going huge. And uh just like the evolution from last year and just fast forward from 10 years ago when the men’s were here, those runs would have rivaled the men’s for sure. Um so just amazing. And uh I mean it it’s so much work to get to finals day. I was catching up with CJ Celig who it was her first Rampage. Unfortunately, we didn’t see her in the start gate. she had a crash as well as some others. But uh ju we were just talking about like how hard it is to get to this day and uh I know the riders that crashed out, we’ll be seeing them back. And so we have more to expect in the future, but today that was amazing and such a great show for the women’s and a sample of what we’re going to see tomorrow for the men’s or actually in a couple days indeed. And um yeah, we we wish those riders CJ, Chelsea Kimble, the others um a quick and and healthy uh recovery. How about we take a look back with you as well, Tyler, at this this this first run from Robin Gomes one. Tyler, let’s get your perspective. Tyler doesn’t have a monitor, so it’s just us. Oh, he’s back. So, Tyler, what’s your perspective on this run? We were watching practice last night when Haz tried to ride this feature. We weren’t sure if it was even doable this morning. This feature right here is so gnarly and such a crux and just so close to that right wall on the side. They made an adjustment to kind of fix the turn out of it. And then this was my favorite part right here. Like you guys were saying, just full ski slash style. And then the rest of her run was really uh kind of the seup formula, you know, like trick absolutely everything and make it look just good and styly and ride it smooth and fast. So, the size of the features wasn’t as big as some of the other women, but she made up for it with the tricks. That midline back flip right there on the edge of a cliff. Like super technical and just in a risky spot. And uh she just looked comfy adding in the crank flip there and just staying loose. But so impressive. And I after her first run, I I could only think that that was her dream run, but uh I bet she still had more she could do had left in the tank. She’s just at that level right now. And so impressive to see Tyler right here. What were you feeling as she’s coming into this final jump? I was feeling like don’t throw it away. There’s so much pressure on this final jump. Exactly. And when you get to the bottom, it’s just like all you’re thinking is is is don’t throw it away on the last jump. Get it across the line. She held her composure, hit her breaking points absolutely perfect. And that feeling right there coming over the line, I do miss that feeling. It’s the best feeling in the world. Well, Tyler, Selfishly, we enjoy having you here with us and uh we’re looking forward to to getting back into this with you on Sunday. Cool. Can’t wait. Thanks for having me. All right, we’ve got our GoPro moment uh that is coming up as well as uh we’ll be giving away some other awards. And the GoPro moment is Kami Nogetta with this ridiculous entrance. I’m excited to see what this looks like from POV. This is the crux of this feature right here. You’re riding, but you’re also dropping. It’s vertical. And what that RERS POV, their perspective shows, is the magnitude of those drops, those clips to the right of her, and as well as just how slippery it is. So, you can see her breaking points. I’m holding on. I’m holding my breath. Yeah, this is going to be a great experience to see El Presidente from Cam’s point of view. [Music] Yep. Still looks big from there. [Music] [Applause] The crowd loved this whip. I heard them roar. That is everybody in the crowd going, I can relate to that one tiny little moment of this run. This is a superhero moment. I mean, for all those girls here watching and that watched last year, they’re seeing these women take on this incredible feat. And it’s it’s no joke. She’s a superhero. [Applause] [Music] Doesn’t get any better than that to be able to to get on board all the way to the celebration in the corral. I just I still can’t believe that she had a dislocated elbow three days ago. I don’t know. I know a lot of athletes that are tough. I’ve seen people go through it. I I don’t know any other athletes that I think would have tried to step it back in after getting that thing reset and and the stakes that are so high here. And the only way you build resilience is truly being in the moment. She turned that fear into flow, step back up to the plate, and that is it’s resilience in motion. She’s an absolute superhero. All right. Well, with that, we got more hardware to give away. It is the Utah Sports Commission Best Trick Award and that winner is KVH Kristen Van Horn. Oh, for good reason, too. Like you mentioned, Caroline, biggest step down suicide nohander in women’s free ride mountain biking. Best trick well earned. Yeah, I mean ever. We saw it in Joy Ride, but this course is so much bigger. So, you know, the technicality of that is you’re completely letting go of your bike. You’re pinching that seat and you’re taking the hands off, which is that control. It’s that safety net, which just shows she was all into that moment. And what a better way to end. It’s a timeless trick, too. Yeah, it’s a timeless trick. It will never get old. And we also can’t forget the fact that she was the first to go and she stood up there for almost 10 minutes battling that early win that we had as a rookie and then just was like, “Watch me.” She wasn’t acting like a rookie whatsoever. You know, a lot of people in that high pressure scenario would every minute would tick by and seem like 10 minutes and you would think I’m waiting too long. I need to drop in. But having that knowledge, that wisdom, I’m sure in large part to the riding community in Nelson, full of Rampage competitors of yester year, let her know. You wait for that moment. Chant. She’s like, “Wait, I’m from Nelson. Kurt Sugi sent me his tools. I’ve got this.” She’s probably embracing that Carl Straight moment as well with those big iconic suicide no handers and she’s just a rider that embodies her helmet has the camping landscape. It has the trees. She gets up early. I mean, she’s just the epitome of that rider that has that work ethic. And to do that as a rookie, I mean, I’m expecting huge things next year from her and I’m excited. Absolutely. I I’ve I’ve just been told that that we’re doubling up on awards for Cammy Noera. She has also won, surprise, the BFG Toughness Award. I wonder why. I would encourage everybody to go on Instagram and watch the footage that you showed me yesterday as well. It tells the story. It really makes you feel it. Yeah. In actual pictures that we’re not embellishing at all. I mean, that that first send was so deep. We got to watch her practicing last night uh with Chelsea Kimell and once she hit that, you could just see the confidence come back to her because she didn’t know if the elbow was going to hold. But that is what besides the smile and the and and and the niceness that Cammi is known for. Uh she’s a savage and she showed it. She is. And it’s just a respect to this landscape. Her injury didn’t happen on a huge moment. It happened on a middle filler part and yeah, she popped her over out. Yeah, the toughness award uh is of course presented by BFG Goodrich tires and uh she won a set of BFG Goodrich tires. There’s a lot up for grabs out here. I mean, can we can we talk about Robin Gomes? I mean, this is life-changing amounts of money like you mentioned earlier. Plus the truck. Yeah. And we’ve seen enough footage of that truck today. We can all be jealous. I’m We’re not getting up there and doing that, are we? I’m rethinking my my life choices after seeing that truck. All right. Um, we also, of course, one of the favorite awards here, uh, is about we we talk about again, this is an endurance event over the eight days, and it’s not just the the rider, it is also their team. The Decked Digger Award goes to team Chelsea Kimble. And for good reason. her builders Eric Duncan and Ryan Rhino Rodriguez, they had such a big plate of tasks and they gobbled it all down. One of which the battleship having to rebuild that feature and also not just the physical labor, but knowing that your good friend is going to put themselves at that type of risk and you are responsible for making sure that that trail is as safe as possible. And when you’re talking about something like the battleship, safe is a really strange word to choose. Yeah. And her diggers extended the runin by a foot to make sure she came in straight and that took an entire day. Well, of course at Rampage uh there is one award that is almost as important as winning and that is the Maza Spirit Award. Um it is the person who embodies that energy and that infectious courage that the one and only Kelly McGary had. May he continue to rest in peace. And this year, the Maza Spirit Award goes to Hannah Bergman. Bergman, who is with Tina D. I love it. Oh, yeah. That’s right. Well, Hannah, it was about 10 years ago. I want to say that uh a rider came down this mountain and I got a chance to interview him, you know, and despite whether it was a crash or a landed run, he was always smiling. He always embodied that spirit of the love of mountain biking. Of course, I’m talking about Kelly McGary. the Maza Spirit Award. You have just been awarded that. Yes. Congratulations. Thank you. That means so much. Um, yeah, Kelly was such an incredible person. So, I’m so honored. It was a tough week, you know, with the weather and there were injuries and everyone keeps saying it was a roller coaster week, yet you kept the smile. You kept that spirit of mountain biking alive throughout. Thank you so much. That that means so much to me. I’m Yeah. So honored. Well, Hannah, it was awesome to see you riding today. So glad that you’re back on the mountain. Congrats on this award. All right, guys. A that makes perfect perfect sense. And long live Kelly McGary. I remember that that Canyon Gap backflip making the Sports Center top 10 and being the number one play. And we just all lost it. That that moment got to be shared around the world. And you see the way he’d rip his his goggles off. It was just just like Hannah just always instant smile at the joy of the thing. Yeah. Yeah, I mean Kelly had the ability to do something that nobody else could do, but also he went through so many heavy crashes and whether it was a mega high or a mega low. He was always one to remind everybody that we’re riding bikes because we love it. It is fun. And Hannah 100% embodies that. She does. And she won obviously the scissor paper rock between herself and Casey of who was going to unlock this princess drop. happened. I mean, she had to then turn around and see her friend go down and then continue to perform. And normally, she’s the one that unlocks those features for the girls. So, it was a bit of a reverse. Um, you could say, but yeah. So, congratulations to her. Love it. Perfect sense. Uh, it wasn’t just about the judges today. Uh, we gave you, the people at home, the opportunity to participate in the people’s choice award. And did you agree with the judges at the end of the day or not? And look at this. Change is possible. The judges chose Robin Goombs and the the the people have chosen Robin Gomes as the writer of the day. Can you believe it? Will that be the case on Sunday? Please tune in on Sunday. I can’t wait to see because this seems too good to be true. What’s going on here? No crashes, the people agreeing with the judges. What’s happening, Rampage? It was close though. Look at that. at the Cammy. It was 6%. Hey, as Cam just pointed out, the road to Rampage immortality continues on Sunday. The the men are coming back on Sunday. You know, the depth of inspiration and how fired up they are going to be after watching the women set the table. They’re like, “All right, what you got, boys? You’re gonna be there, right? You’re gonna come back on Sunday and watch this.” Make sure that you all tune in. is going to tune in. It’s going to be incredible. Uh we look forward to taking a little break, a little breather, and seeing you on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday for day two of Red Bull Rampage 2025 with the men. [Music] [Music] Happy [Music] heat. 1. Definitely the right winner here. Robin's run was a class apart (I'd dispute the tight margin to 2nd place: should have been wider), but a great show from everyone.

I liked Cami's line for 2nd, really. More tech in it should count for more. 4th a bit mean

  2. It’s not that we agreed with the judges, we just knew she got ripped, her first run was easily 93-95 her line is so exposed, that first section where she drops into a bench is just nuts

  3. So now there's a judging analyst. Isn't that part of the commentators job? Oh, I forgot, they are to busy making up moronic utterances such as "oppo" and " over- rowy,." Alas I digress…perhaps we need a " judging analyst analyst."
