Good morning. Today I’m going to cycle to the Stavrai Monastery. [Music] The monastery itself is uh 35 km away from where I live in Governor’s Beach. Uh there’s gradual climbs up to it. Then there’s a nice steep one when you get to the actual monastery itself as it’s on top of a hill. Uh and then when I when I go back home, I’m just going to find a different route to take me down to the coast road. And I’m now in the village of Toky. It has an old church here and the usual stuff, a mini market, and a coffee shop. Here’s the old church, the mini market, and there’s the coffee shop and some cats and a chicken. [Music] There’s lots of cats around here and they’re all getting fed and waters. You can see the monastery now in the since that big thing sticking up there and it’s probably about 16 17 km away now in Cyprus there’s a roads and B- roads the A- roads being the motorways and around 90% of the time the B- road runs along alongside it. So obviously this is the B- road and they all kind of go into the same directions. There it is again in the near distance. Uh as you can see it’s getting closer now. This is the area of coffee. The road motorways both roads and motorways split here into three directions. You got Lisol, Nicasia and Lana. To be fair, I always get confused here. I think it’s this road here. No, got to go back. A1. I need the B. I need the B1 towards Nicasia. So according to this I think it is that right turn there and yes it is there’s the sign left go which is Nicicoia. I didn’t even see that sign. Yeah, this is the road and there’s the monastery. Just pointing out one shameful thing here inside, but it’s all this rubbish on the sides of the roads. All these trips that go across Europe, you don’t see anything like this. It’s all clean. Uh, for some reason here in Cyprus, people think it’s a great idea to throw the rubbish out the car windows and the fires we get in here in the summer just evil. And these things can cause it. Start of a steep climb. Now, this goes right on the side of the highway. Still on the B1 to Nicicoia and the A1’s next to me there. And the monastery is getting closer. So the way to get to that monastery is to go level with it on the Nicasia road. And down in that direction is Lornica. So this is it. I’m off the main road now heading towards the monastery and no drones. I did want to bring my drone and do some nice footage, but uh there’s an army camp here to probably shoot it down. This is the start of the steep climb up now. It’s a shortish steep climb. There it is in front of me. It kind of winds up like that. So, here we go. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat up here. [Music] 510 m up now and you can see the monastery there behind me. Uh I’m getting to around 6 650 m. Uh and just from this point here, you can see all of Hanukkah there. [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat up here. [Music] Heat up [Music] here. [Music] the chapel I was talking about there. And as we turn around here, we got the monastery. [Music] And then as you can see what trees is trees attractions and there it says the monastery at the top. [Music] So that’s it. 638 m up. There’s the monastery. Limol over there, Lana. And behind me over there is Nicasia. And the view here is just fantastic. Just a quick look at the church before I go. This is the downhill. I just had a real good chat there with some nice people. There’s some cyclists from Nicaria. So, made friends and a connection with them on Facebook and some lovely people from southeastern Turkey. So when you come to these places, it’s amazing the people you meet. And now for the downhill. Let’s go back to the bottom of the hill. Now I do want to find a different way back cuz you can get boring just going back the same way that you came. So I’m just trying to find a route down to the coast road. I’m now down on the seafront in the Ziggy Marina about 8 km from home. Now I’m just going to stop here, have a refreshment, and uh get myself home and go and watch some football. Jeez.
