It was a short week in Andorra but a constructive one nonetheless. Staying at 2400 above sea level is a big adaptation in itself but having amazing roads to train on makes it seem less of an obstacle.
I had to bail early because I have a change in race program as our quest for points continues.
Have a great week and enjoy the scenery!

[Music] made sandora here for 10 days or so trying to get ready for swiss and hopefully the tour de france and uh objective here is to do some weight to keep things simple um try and do some efforts on the climbs and then uh get ready for what’s coming up so um hope you guys enjoyed this uh this vlog and uh yeah look forward to showing you what we get up to this week um as you can see we’re in a bit of a cycling paradise here and door is really uh special two easy days here so what i’m gonna do i’m gonna dial some shoes in and uh you know hydrates already up it’s like just cruising easy i’m doing 145 beats 10 minutes yeah so definitely altitude’s already taking a toll on me um so yeah i kind of don’t want to overdo it i don’t remember i’m supposed to be recovering from norway and uh styling these puppies in so you know i always like to start a big block of the season with some new shoes so pretty spoiled from scott to get these shoes so um yeah and now i’m just going to go over call the botales then ride all the way up the top to pasta del casa where i’m staying at 2 400 meters so i’ll be a long slog probably about 15k uphill from after bachata so it is a climber used in the tour de france and uh and the walter et cetera so there’s some big climbs yeah enjoy it i enjoy it and i love putting in the hard work so there we go do it [Music] me [Music] coming out with a 39 chain ring and a 30 cassette that’s uh amateur move suffering today on the charlie’s right now and it’s it’s a long way home from here already at 140 beats at 200 watts 750 watts actually i think i cocked it up feeling everything but this is what the body needs also in quite a good mood you know hearing that jacob fullslang was won the race i don’t know woodsy second we’re slowly starting to chip away at the point and uh they can only mean good things and big races coming up two of the top dogs in the team climbing group going really well so uh that’s going to be cool going to switzerland akatan there’s some really good guys let’s go for the gc so uh hit the top of call the pachalas now tell you what i’m gonna have to stop for a drink and maybe something to eat i was just going live this morning an omelet which was always a plan but i started to feel it now [Music] [Music] are you getting lonely [Music] i need an emergency stop cake the only one way up to the top now so i need a cake and i need some you know as i say when you bonk you’ve either got to have like a ball one or a coke or something if it’s snowball one so i’d have to have some snakes so yeah red snakes to the rescue my job it’s always like there’s the first couple days of altitude you get a bit uh overwhelmed by the lack of oxygen so um just taking it easy taking it real steady because i know tomorrow i’ll start getting a little bit of hot efforts and then do a long one on saturday so um no point cooking myself now plus i still need to recover from the way that was a hard race so i’ll do it now i’ll hopefully get to the top soon it’s up there all the way up all the way up there through that valley right to the top you can’t see it beyond those clouds but it’s yeah i threw that gap there [Music] things are getting pretty serious your director comes he’s driven all the way from come see how you’re and make sure you’re training thank goodness it’s tailwind if it wasn’t telling i think i’d get this video out i am i wouldn’t do that for a job okay just under 2k from the top and it’s 2 300 meters really creeps up on you now now i’m doing 280 watts that’s nearly 140 150 beats actually so yeah just shows you 600 at 1600 meters about roughly 800 meters lower she’s running at 3 30. that’s hot no joke folk yeah i’m tucking into some food now day’s done already on the fueled paid the price you know a bit of adaptation today well adapted i’d say now and sleep well this afternoon so see you later i mean besides the view let me quickly go to the view here i mean if you want to do glitch racing you can do it as well but it’s the luck of saying this hotel hotel pick maya starting to do some renovations but they’re really trying to cater for cyclists so this is not an advertisement or anything but uh when people are really looking after cyclists i think it’s uh good to support them so if you guys are coming down dora you’re looking for a place to stay and i’ll shoot come to pick maya great place and uh really helpful people too so and you can chill on the sun deck if you want three hours on the banger and only 66 k’s while i’m going slow or it was a solid day i think it’s a lot of climbing meters so yeah i’m gonna sleep well nothing better than getting a new bike for training camp and uh a new cockpit new bars and um a new seat post so and then also the paint is a bit matte finish so it’s a bit larger hopefully that’s it front so good to try this bad boy out see if it works [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] okay [Music] three times 20 minutes and 340 average it’s not too hard but uh it’s only day three i’ll tell you what i’m still feeling it so ah yeah i’m still feeling it from uh yesterday and today but anyway let’s have a go i’m going to catch up with woodsy now he’s doing some testing on the club different wheels different things we’ll sell that guys and they’re along 20 20 ak climb to home today so long day [Music] how’s it going so i thought i’d give you a bit of an explanation to actually uh yesterday i didn’t actually give you in detail what they were doing but basically they were trying different tyres tubular versus tubeless different tyre pressures and then every time while they were weighing themselves was to get the bike and the person the exact same weight as before as to try and get it as accurate as possible so basically it right up the hill um i don’t know say example of getting to 72 kilos right and then you’d come back down obviously lose some weight going up the hill with sweating and things like that and drinking on the way down and then basically uh they’d come back down weigh him and then uh you know if they needed to add on some weight they would add some weight on so add an extra bit in or 200 mils of water or something so that was precise and then basically they would change the tyre pressure and then go up again so he was doing some repeats up there and the verdict was uh probably tubular it’s faster and so be using those options anyway um also there’s so many things like factors weight things like that so um they were just trying to figure that out before the tour de france there’s been a change of program uh for me i got the call uh not the call message saying that i have to race keep gp gipping them so i’m going to be leaving this altitude block early so it’s unfortunate because i would have liked to have spent the 10 days here but you know we are chasing points we need riders we’ve got such a stack calendar so many races on at the moment so it’s unfortunate um because i wanted to do a big block up here and uh i feel like i invested a lot of time to get you anyway um we have to restructure it so what i’m going to be doing is just two more days here doesn’t make any sense going from a high altitude straight down into a race so i’m gonna go home have three or four days easy at home you know keep the structure again simple but uh so two more bigger days here in the climbs and stuff just really riding the wrong long climbs uh then i’ll head home so and then you guys will probably see this video so the next video will be uh gp gipping them so guys enjoy this ride it’s a five or six hour ride with woodsy and uh again it’s just it’s just fitness working on uh riding 30 to 30 minutes on at a certain you know wattage or things like that so get through the day well and look forward to it and uh keep tracking guys be lucky have a nice week and afterwards see you guys later [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] foreign know you’re scared you wanna hide away sometimes [Music] [Music] so just lay down beside me give me all your issues [Music] [Music] 115k well this will be it i’ll wrap up the video yeah you know i did not okay so for supposed to be eight or nine days it is only four or five days now so not ideal to go back dipping them next and then swiss see you later be lacquer thanks for tuning in

Good luck for GP
Absolutely appreciated the description of training-efforts and explanation of the testing related to tires/weight. Great video (once again).
Flexibility in training, flexibility in a pro cyclist mindset. Best of luck in the next race.
We definitely don’t ride the same roads. Just slightly jealous.
You didn’t see jay vine out on the climbs at all?
Daryl the scenery and commentary is great as usual but the music(!) on this one was unbearable for me mate 🙂

Great work mate, and wishing you lot more success ahead!
nice location but better rim brakes 😉
Another very interesting video! Loved the perspective at the end with the camera mounted on the team car. Nothing more beautiful than a scenic descent.
