So it was fantastic when Cycling UK approached us to do Bike Week a TV commercial, we sent over a few different concepts over to them and they chose a poem which I was Oliver wrote, our Script Writer, which we were delighted with. There was a lot of creative freedom all they said was we want a 30 second ad to promote Bike Week so we went away with that and came up with some ideas. One of the ideas was for a poem. The idea of Bike Week is everyday cycling for everyone so I took that and wrote a poem about it and made quite an upbeat, nostalgic poem. At LoveLoveFilms we are all really passionate about cycling so we kind of spoke to each other when we got the brief and found out everybody’s experience of cycling, some of us like doing trail biking some of us like mountain biking, others spin most nights so I took that away and came up with the idea of the poem through everyone’s individual experiences. Cycling UK thought it was really important to actually have contributors within the advert that weren’t actors, that were cycling enthusiasts, so we actually went out to the public via social media and on Facebook alone had over 60,000 impressions, organic impressions and we had over 400 applications within four days. My experience today has been really cracking, I really, really enjoyed it did lots of varied different things, jumped on a bike, cycled and pretended to go up a hill yeah, it’s really, really entertaining It was a great learning experience, I’ve never been to a green screen studio before, so it was great to take part in it and it was great to do a little acting on the bike. One of the main challenges was working out how to make the bike stationary whilst both wheels moved, so, when we were in the green screen studio we actually had to design a rig that would work, for that purpose and that was a real challenge for the animation team, but, actually in the past we’ve made rain machines for music videos so we like a bit of a challenge so that was quite fun. I absolutely loved my time in the green screen studio it was really great to see my words that are written on paper come to life and to see all the contributors there having fun on the cycling rig that we built. It was really great, and just seeing everything come together was amazing. I think Bike Week is a great idea because I think cycling is a great way for people to get around and keep fit at the same time. It’s really cool that they have these little community’s where people can get together and do it together. Getting involved in projects like this is really important because its about community and about bringing lots of people into it, the more people you bring to the community, the different flavours and tapestry’s weave into it are just fantastic It promotes, you know, cycling. Everyone thinks the way forward is cars and all these other transports that sort of pollute the earth, but just cycle. I absolutely loved the end product, I think the animation is absolutely amazing and it compliments the poem well and I really, really like the way the mix media, how the real life people that we shot in front of the green screen interact with the animated world I think it works really well. Working on the Bike Week advert was really, really fun and the whole team had a great time not just working with the public but also with the green screen process, creating the animated worlds and you know we can’t wait to work with Cycling UK in the future. Hope you enjoy the advert.
