Hello everyone. In April 2024, I spent two wonderful weeks cycling the length of Britain from Land’s End to John O’Groats. It’s a route I’ve always wanted to ride and it did not disappoint, particularly the more mountainous sections through the highlands of Scotland (Glencoe, stunning!), the Lake District in England, and the Cambrian mountains in Wales. Besides a few sections with very strong headwinds, we were also blessed by the weather, and only had serious rain on a couple of days.

The trip was 1,700km and 17 days in all, and included a big detour through Wales, which is usually skipped on the classic Land’s End John O’Groats route but is home to some of Britain’s best cycling. We filmed the whole thing, with a drone, phones and go pros, to capture the most beautiful parts of everywhere we cycled. It’s been six months in the making, and I've just published the film of the ride on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6Yp-5jbPN0

I’ve also put together a guide to our route, including a download of all of our GPX files if you’re interested in doing something similar yourself at some point. https://oscarboyd.substack.com/p/how-to-cycle-the-length-of-the-uk

This ride really shifted my perception of how beautiful Britain’s natural landscapes are. There are some truly epic places to ride, and I’d heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to give it a go. Sharing some photos here of the trip to get the inspiration flowing, and I hope you enjoy the film. Thanks
