COAST TO CATHEDRAL: The UNEXPECTED Brompton Adventure CONTINUED!

Join me and my trusty Brompton folding bike, “River”, as we continue our cycling adventure from the Isle of Sheppey! 🚴‍♂️ Riding across the stunning Kent coastline and countryside, soaking in the beautiful scenery and unexpected sights.

We pedal through the charming market town of Faversham, passing a picturesque English vineyard, where you could mistake yourself for being in France or Italy, as we make our way towards the enchanting city of Canterbury.

Good morning from a very warm… And sunny camp I’ve been watching the sunrise while having my coffee and a pain au chocolat. And we are looking over the Thames estuary right now. Having a really nice start to the day. I do have an option now of a second night. However, there is the risk of thunderstorms which I don’t really want to be in, in a tent! Or on the bike. So… I’m going to have a think and see what we do. And take it from there. So… I’ve decided what the plan is…. We are going to cycle to Canterbury, and explore and explore that area. And then we are going to get the train home tonight. It’s really, really hot! And this campsite was great, It was like a nearly wild camping site, so it has… a composite toilet it has a tap. but it does not have a showers the grass is very much overgrown as you can see. which was a great experience but in this heat, two nights, I think would be just too much. in terms of sweat. I’m having to put a lot of suncream on. I’ve got some baby wipes with me That’s keeping me clean, but… Obviously, there is a limit of how good that does it. So, yes. I’m going to put some sun cream on now. And, yes, pack the bike and then we can get going. Alright! We are now heading to Canterbury! It is extremely hot already, and I’m sweating so bad! Starting off with a little climb. Hopefully it won’t be too bad There is about 1800ft of elevation gain today. so not too bad! Snack with a view! These Oh So Good Oat bar snacks without wrappers They have this bee’s wax around them they are really really nice! They have different flavours, I think this one is cherry bakewell. they also do Lemon Cheesecake and chocolate orange So we are arriving at Faversham and when I first got here it looked very industrial but now it looks really quaint and cute! looks like there is a nice Sunday Market going on. I think, sometimes you think you know your own country but sometimes you can be pleasantly suprised! I’m just doing some hiker bike! I’m just getting… up a fairly steep hill. but the heat is killing with the weight on the back I don’t want to snap a chain or break the Brompton! The Brompton is extremely well built but it has its limits. Also being in the shade walking is a bit cooler. Hello! Are you having your lunch? An English Vineyard!!! Its like we are in Italy or France! Stunning! We are arriving in the city of Canterbury! Today I, as I said this morning, I didn’t really have a plan. So I was massively surprised by all the various things we saw today. Especially Faversham And that is what adventures are about. Its about getting on the bike And not necessarily going with expectations of what you are going to see but seeing what comes up and surprising yourself.
