In our 140th video, we continue our ‘Worst Places to Live in the UK’ series by visiting Southampton, located in Hampshire on the south coast. The fact the visit was overshadowed by a gloomy day didn’t Southampton many favours, however there were some redeeming features. We met some positive business owners selling baklava, a veteran that’s still smiling despite being homeless for 8.5 years and found a city that dreams of a better yesterday.

fresh and then uh move on to some of the crap we’ve only been rolling for less than what 2 minutes and already I’ve discovered an empty alcohol bottle I think that beats Portsmouth if you weren’t aware sampton is the capital of the zombie billboard so if you don’t want your business advertised come here [Applause] huh careless driver what is all this smashed up yeah caress driver oh and another bottle of alcohol this beats this beats ports smouth now guys look that’s two we’ve seen and then contrasted there a that and if you know Manchester what building does that remind you of it’s very noisy down here right in the Posh area of Oxford Street you can get yourself a free whatever that is fridge freezer no idea then you come to Oxford Street no not the one in London look you may have seen this on the live stream I did but here they’ve got a number of old places look at that old G Pub and then the rest of it is just failed businesses that have never recovered wonderful look at the state of Britain bit of history for you though the white star 10 points to whoever can tell me the history and significance of the name go I will say though this barers is excellent look at that that’s Lush that’s so cool I love that so there’s Hollywood house not Hollywood Hollywood and just up there is where the church that got absolutely blitzed in the blitz cre got blitzed in the blitz cre this is one of the Estates of sampton take it all in Marvel enjoy now there’s a mural here the Titanic stor cool bit of History stop and learn just look at the contrast what has happened then and now looks like a sight for a burger van just before you go to the football one cheeseburger please here you go series of businesses fish and chips Salon Gourmet kebabs interesting excuse me Madam East Street I believe and then they’re throwing up more buildings more and more and more and more yeah we still can’t hose enough people interesting a sneak peek of the construction site I might have to take the drone over to see the development there you go the creative industry need you oh Jaffer cak SPO my shot this is really weird coming down this way because when I was in university here I remember I went to this shopping center and it was the first and last time I ever got a fake tan done and when I tell you I came out looking like somebody that would be cancelled nowadays for having a certain face honestly it was embarrassing but yeah this is going to be massive this place to local residents will know that it got delayed for a few years thanks to funding but also here’s some history York gate pause to read and if you’ve used a trolley from your local supermarket don’t bring it back just leave it here and they’ll pick it up for you that was a joke by the way the mind wokery has finally got everybody this guy thinks he can fly he identifies as a bird why look after your city when you can just Chuck everything on the floor no care in the world love that and opposite the bargate who some of you may recall made an appearance in my recent live stream with The Nutters and ukip and everyone else trying to save kids it’s not just Manchester that has the car rying barriers of peace and next to spec Savers we have someone’s home with a pram wellow hello sampton what’s the issue that you’re having at the moment in sampton cuz we’re trying to make changes to help people like you so the government stops turning its back on our own people just they’ve cut all the homeless funding okay when did it start affecting you 3 and 1/ half years ago so you’ve been like this for 3 and 1/ half years I’ve been like this for 8 and 1 half years Jesus what happened before the 3 and a half years and with the funding cut um well you could get into a hostal for 6 months and you’re out again really yeah and they didn’t provide any support after that to help you get back no you have to then you have to go 6 months homeless and then you get another six months yeah and then you’re out 6 months homeless and then you get another 6 months and it’s just a revolving door it’s you know what do what would you like to see that would really help you then to get back on your feet um what would you think that could help you know like in Japan they have like these little sleep pods y something like that here yeah you know you could pay £8 a night yeah or I don’t know what it is in Japan I I just 8 off the top of my head I don’t know yeah so you got a warm place to sleep facilities help you get back your I mean they did say in Southampton they were going to turn a load of um cargo pods oh yeah you know them transport of containers yeah they were going to turn a load of them into self-contained flats that all fell through bet they said there was no funding no funding but they could spend a quarter of a billion on a migr processing sale yeah and 5 billion a year on their hotels yeah and S I’m I’m not racist no not racist in the slightest I get that I know the people that have come in from other countries they they’re fleeing death every day they leave their homes but they come here and they put them up in five star hotels yeah I’m an English citizen this is where I sleep yeah you know it’s disgusting mate and that’s what people are angry about okay well I’ll go and get you your drink mate and come back um but I’m planning on trying to do these sort of things with the pods because if it can help you get back on your feet then abolutely good if I if I had somebody to sleep and somebody to clean myself I could get a job yeah you know try trying to go for an interview having just scraped myself up off the pavement and that’s the first people thing people judge as well they exactly they don’t listen to your story no first thing they say is have you got an address no have you got a bank account no where’ you sleep last night on the pavement out the door it’s awful Isn’t it yeah I’m a fully qualified raw electrical mechanical engineer you’re a vet as well yeah thanks for your service sorry this has happened to you we’re going to sort it out I know you probably heard that loads of times but I think change is happening now good all right let’s get all of these are probably worth more than the car itself I love it when they build little workshops and things inside the bridge it’s amazing it’s like Hobbits and caves but could a smarter individual
