It took me THIS LONG to find Düsseldorf’s best forest adventure, and now I’m obsessed! 🤩
If you’re looking for the perfect family-friendly nature escape in Düsseldorf, this hidden stretch of connected city forests is a must. We hiked from Hellerhof Forst through Garather Forst, into Benrath, and all the way to Urdenbacher See – spotting lakes, birds, and even grabbing delicious Greek food at a local Gartenverein along the way.
With forest playgrounds, picnic spots, and zero traffic stress, it’s the kind of outing you’ll want to repeat every weekend. A true gem hiding in plain sight! 🌿

I’ve just discovered this amazing tip and can confidently say that it should be number one on your bucket list this summer, especially if your kids love the great outdoors. Did you know that there’s a series of forests that all connect to one another? Perfect for hiking or biking in Dador. We took the kids from Helof Forest through Gaga Forest into Benat and onwards to Onapahazi, passing lakes, rivers, tons of animals and birds along the way, and there’s loads of picnic spots, forest playgrounds, and we even stopped halfway to enjoy some yummy local Greek food at a fine. The entire stretch takes about an hour, but we turned it into a whole day trip with the kids, and they absolutely loved it. For more awesome kid-friendly tips, don’t forget to hit follow and turn on those notifications. Happy summer.
