Nuremberg (2000)

a rat catcher catching rats is that the kind of thinking it takes to carry out State sanction mass murder not just blind obedience but also a belief that your victims are not human let me ask you this what was hoshima would Americans have dropped bombs as easily on Germany as it did upon Japan killing as many civilians as possible I think not to an American sensibility a Caucasian child is considerably more human than a Japanese child America was at war with Japan a country that had attacked that without provocation you murdered millions of your own citizens and what about the American citizens of the Japanese race who were put into protective custody in your own concentration camps that was wrong and why was this not done to American citizens of Italian and German descent I said it was wrong and what about the Negro officers in your own Army are they allowed to command troops in combat can they sit on the same buses as the whites

  1. The excuses are normal for monsters! Always blaming others for their actions! The holocaust is one of the most shameful things humans have done to others! Only thing they may rival it, is what the Japanese did in china!

  2. The bombs were meant for Germany but the Trinity Test could only happen in July 1945, two months AFTER Germany's surrender. Real life Göring upon confrontation would say "I… uh… I… uhm…"

  3. What about the Latino soldiers who served valiantly & returned to be once again treated worse than ever? Good movie, however injustice on every race WILL always be an issue bc mankind just won't let go of pride, power & greed. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Sra lsa"

  4. Goring admits its wrong morally to exterminate and genocide his own people, but the audacity to resort to whatifs and not try to come to an understanding that both nations policies were disgusting and immoral.

  5. Playing a game of comparing state sanctioned horror is incredible. Yes segregation was an evil commited by a racist portion of the U.S. population …. yet it is in no way an equal comparison to an attempted genocide.

  6. FDR's executive order 9066 called for all Japanese, Italian and German non-citizens to carry identification cards labeling them "enemy aliens". They were not permitted walkie talkies, guns, or short wave radios. They were forbidden contact with relatives in the old country. In many places speaking Italian, Japanese or German in public could get one arrested. My grandparents generation endured these things. Japanese along the west coast were relocated inland to "relocation camps" forfeiting their homes and businesses. This was to prevent them siding with invading Japanese forces in the event of an invasion. (That was the official reason, anyway). But this also applied to Italian people living on the west coast. Businesses were forced to close and homes surrendered and Italians relocated. It was a much smaller scale only because the majority of Italians and Italian Americans lived on the east coast. This was just plain prejudice, since the possibility of Italy invading the United States was zero. The idea of a Japanese invasion at least was within the realm of possibility since they had attacked Pearl Harbor and an invasion of Hawaii and the west coast was a consideration at one point. Ironically, Italian Americans comprised 10% of the total American armed forced. Some who's parents were under the restrictions of "enemy aliens".

  7. Fortunately, I attended a Catholic school where a Priest who taught catechism to us.. He was a survivor of a camp! Father told us about the camps very sanitized to prevent us from going into shock. THE MOVIE NUREMBERG NEEDS TO BE SHOWN IN EVERY HIGH SCHOOL IN THE U.S.. I agree with the saying NEVER AGAIN!

  8. Going deserved to die but he wasn't wrong. America is a nation of hypocrisy, racism, and chauvinistic BS. Wrapped up in religious piety wrapping paper. It's still going on today in 2025.

  9. About fifteen thousand German and Italian Americans were put into camps during WWII. The bomb was designed for Germany. Compared to what Lemay had in store for Japan, the nukes were merciful as they got Japan to surrender. Imagine the fire bombing of Tokyo carried out on every city in Japan and then on the country side.

  10. If Germany would have staged a military attack on American soil then it would have happened in the blink of an eye. And were the Japanese put in gas chamber or experimented on?

  11. This is all you need to know. Admiral Doenitz was sentenced to 10 years in prison for submarine warfare on civilian shipping. Something all the Axis and Allied powers did in WW2.

Goring is morally right but criminally wrong. Goring backed a regime whose goal and target was to execute civilians. If it were discrimination, racism or bigotry he wouldn't have been facing a death sentence.

  12. This is revisionist wacko leftist script writing. The fire bombing of Cologne killed more people than the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. The relentless bombing of German cities should evaporate the ridiculous argument that the US somehow would not kill white Germans like they would Asian Japanese.

  13. It's not a justification, like: Ich haz mein orterz to opey… (aka HE told me to)
It's a remark, like: After all ve are not zo tifferent. You just pretent not to rememper, rightig..?
And what's more chilling, he isn't talking just about GIs but everybody walking.

  14. Not "chilling justification," but rather factual statements. I'm not lessening his actions but he's right. And Brian Cox is an incredible actor! He speaks with such clarity and conviction in this scene.
