Along the waterways and dams of the Dutch Delta including Bergen Op Zoom and Renesse

Another in the series Netherlands best bike rides and this one’s around the Dutch Delta. Step one, Lincolnshire to the Netherlands via piano feries into Rotterdam from day one was a familiar route along the top of the Udmass towards Dorrect. And this is a way so oftraveled by us, but we never get tired of it. It’s just a lovely place to be is the Netherlands. Up and over what we deem to nickname the flooy bridge. Don’t ask. [Music] The Holland’s Deep Crossing can often be windy, but can either be in front or behind. It never seems to be just from the side. Somehow traffic’s noisy there. The Dutch countryside might not be full of character, but it is full of characters. Any number of more like a ghost like [Music] [Music] And we were soon into our second stopping point which is Bergen obz spelled zoom pronounced zom or if you’re English whoosh. We stayed in the delightful blow vogal hotel which is bluebird burger wash sorry to zoom is definitely worth having an evening in cuz it’s a fantastic place. See the shark’s teeth there against the cars. They have to stop and give way. We carry on. More sharks teeth. More cars stopping. In fact, this isn’t a road. It’s a cycle track, would you believe? Red paint on the road means cycle way. The cars are allowed on here, but they are looked upon as guests. Going northwards, we joined the flood bank of the Scala Rin Canal. [Music] one or two interesting entry and exit points to this uh bankside ride, but that’s just purely to stop the people in cars going along there. [Music] The highlight of the trip was when we pedal alongside the held the eastern shelled slight wind at our back, sun on our face. It was just gorgeous. And uh the lovely scenery and the fantastic bike paths [Music] The third night was spent at Hotel Zeus Strowman, a very posh hotel in a very posh town of Ranessa. Then we left Shaen Duvaland and went across this man-made spit of land which separates the graveling on our right from the North Sea on our left and then northeastwards across onto the next what was an island but now is attached to everything else of Guri overflaki where there was this fantastic little town which we’ve been to before and it’s one of our favorites and it’s called Gaerida. At the end of the canal, there’s a little basin and a bit of a town square that is just ideal to sit in. [Music] I’m sure you will start to see why we come to Holland so much. Haring Vliet to the right again. North Sea to the left. Not exactly packed with people, although we did go in the end of September 2025. Down and round under the main road and back towards the ship home. Hello. [Music] Heat. And in case you were wondering, yes, we did pay extra for the blue sky, which lasted all the way into the ship, but not out of it the other end. But please do notice Hull’s got its ramp fixed. Yay! Finally. And that was the Dutch Delta. Thanks for watching and bearing through till the very bitter
