I’m looking to get a new endurance bike, and I think I’ve settled on the Giant Defy Advanced. I originally planned to get the new 2024 Giant Defy Advanced 2, which sells for $3000, but it won’t hit any dealers in my area for 6-8 weeks, and it seems like those first shipments are mostly claimed by preorders, so I’m not sure when I’d be able to get my hands on one. However, one of my local shops has the 2023 Giant Defy Advanced 1 on sale for $3500 (down from $3900). I am curious if you would wait for the new 2024 Defy Adv 2, or is the 2023 Defy Adv 1 worth going for?

Specs comparison:[https://99spokes.com/compare?bikes=giant-defy-advanced-1-2023,giant-defy-advanced-2-2024](https://99spokes.com/compare?bikes=giant-defy-advanced-1-2023,giant-defy-advanced-2-2024)To my eyes (which are not super knowleldgeable) the specs are pretty similar between the two bikes, and where the 2023 Adv 1 has better specs it seems somewhat marginal — is it $500 better? One of the bigger differences seems to be that the Adv 1 has electronic shifters/drivetrain — I am not sure if that is a big plus or not, and I also wonder how much of a hassle dealing with electronics and charging is (I typically ride several days a week for a total of \~40+ miles/week). Cosmetically, the new Adv 2 has better interior cable routing, but I like the Adv 1 paint option more. And of course, the Adv 1 is $500 more expensive, but it is available today while the new Adv 2 may take a couple months to acquire. My budget was originally $2500, so I was already stretching for the $3000 Adv 2 and I’m hesitant to stretch further to the $3500 Adv 1 if it’s not absolutely worth it.

What would you go for? Thanks!
