How special is Iladia for you? The last big race of the year. Really special. No, it’s the last race important race of uh of this year. Uh the shape is good. Uh mentally we are a bit tired but we want to try to give everything for uh for take the best results. How special is it to be the Italian rider of the moment in the absence of Chicone? Yeah, is a bigger responsibility. We know that this is not really my prefer prefer race because it’s really hard. The climbs is a bit longer for me. But uh we are here. We want to try to give the best without Chic. It will be difficult for our riders Italian to to do a big result but uh we we want to try to to give everything. How do you feel at the start of your first monument? What is a monument in your mind? Uh it’s something uh huge. There’s only five in the year and this this is one of the five biggest classics in the world and so to be at the start of my first season uh at of of professional uh it’s uh it’s crazy and just uh it’s just uh something that want you to do some great uh great day. You’re not only at the start, you’re also one of the big names already. It goes so fast. Do you see yourself again on the podium with Pogacha and Evool? Oh, I mean it will be so difficult today and uh I need to see how how I feel after the European and uh today we will see and uh just doing my best all the day and uh empty the tank for the for the rest weeks to to to come. Is it a terrain you like with lots of ups and downs? Yeah, of course it’s something uh that I like uh the course is uh uh when I see it at first uh when I was younger. Uh I was thinking that uh in the in the future it was something that could be good for me and today I made a part of it and so we’ll see but I think I will like it. Ben, what has the third place at the World Championship Championship changed for you? Yeah, I mean, I think it’s just just proved again that I can race against some of the the best riders in the world and uh yeah, for sure the worlds is is probably probably my best result to date and uh yeah, it’s just gives me confidence that I can carry on doing that. Are you still uh fresh, motivated? Yeah, for sure motivated, fresh, maybe not. So, but uh yeah, I’m going to give it a go and I felt good on Tuesday, so uh yeah, you never know. today is on paper Lombardia your favorite classic. H it’s definitely a beautiful one. You know this area is amazing and we get to spend a bit of time here before the race. So uh yeah for sure it’s a it’s a good race. Thank you. Thanks at the start of Ilombardia. What’s your message to the people who think that that Pogacha has won even before the race starts? H I mean we’re here to to try and uh and and and I mean win the race. It’s uh something that the team wants me to race for. So, uh, it’s going to be the same today and, uh, yeah, we’re just going to go all in to try and win the race. What would make you happy for your last race with your first team as a professional? Uh, just the best result as possible. Um, to do at least as good as last year and, uh, try to be in the fight as long as possible and, uh, and hopefully fight for the win. Yeah, that would be great. Tom, this is your first uh, iladia. What was the idea you had of this race before, like some years ago? Uh to be honest, it’s never really a race I’ve watched. I’ve never Yeah, I don’t know much about it, but being here, you know, I see the history. I see uh yeah, how how nice especially when the weather is good, how nice this time of year is, it’s um yeah, really, really nice race to be at. You were supposed to race last year. Uh what do you make of your change of team one year ago and how different are you one year later? Um, yeah. I think definitely I’m uh I’m stronger. So I think uh than than last year. Of course, last year I didn’t get to see what this race was like, but yeah, we’ll see. What would make you happy today? Ah, podium will be good. Thank you. After racing the world championship for Pogachar, how is it like to race against Pogachar? Hardh. I mean, I I also try to to do my best in uh in Kigali definitely. uh and uh yeah the way he’s going the last uh I mean let’s say the whole year all the last years uh will will take us a bit longer no normally to come to the finish so what to do against him sorry what to do ah what to do to finish as fast as possible no then you suffer less time but you have to go harder the last time with Rafael Mah who helped your win for Lombardia already. How special is that? Yeah, I’m it’s really special. Uh today’s is rough as the last race. It’s one of the biggest race of the calendar. We won it four times in a row together and uh yeah, let’s uh let’s try to win it uh again uh to end his career on uh with a beautiful day. Can you explain that it is not as easy to win as people think? No, people always think uh especially when they see uh all the champions that are winning all the time. Uh yeah, it’s uh we can go into this discussion uh for a long time, but yeah, it’s never easy uh to win. It’s never easy to be here on the start of the biggest races even and uh to do all these parkours like today. So yeah, it’s always hard.
