Join me on my Friday afternoon commute aboard my Yamaha MT-125 as I test out my new Insta360 Mic Air for the first time and my freshly installed Cardo Packtalk Edge intercom system.

What starts as a chill MotoVlog quickly turns intense when a driver pulls out in front of a motorcyclist ahead, then swerves toward me! 😬

This video captures real-life commuting (excuse the language 🤣), rider reactions, and audio comparisons — perfect for anyone curious about motorcycle vlogging setups, MT125 performance, or how the Insta360 Mic Air sounds on the road.

💬 Let me know what you think of the new audio setup and if you’ve had any close calls like this on your commute!

All right, let’s do this. [Music] [Music] So, I don’t love where I’ve put the microphone. Um, I don’t love that at all, especially with the wind uh thing. kind of makes it not obscuring my vision, but potentially distracting a little bit is uh put this down. Might help keep the wind off the microphone a little bit more. Um just turn that off. [Music] So, I really tried to get my [Music] phone uh my phone and my Pac Edge to pair with the X360 um X5, but That did not work. And unfortunately, uh, I am in fact on my way to work. So, um, there’s one of those I kind of need to get a wiggle on. So, I tried for maybe 10, 15 minutes and I was like, “Okay, no, this not going to work.” Um, every time I connected one, it disconnected the other. And then my phone kind of just had a hissy fit to the point where it uh stopped even being the only thing that would connect. I had to disconnect everything, unpair, forget device, etc. Um, so I’ll have a crack either later or potentially tomorrow. That’s a shame cuz that could work out really well. I like having music on. I do. I know everybody’s like really, oh, you shouldn’t have music while you’re riding, but um you know, music for me is such a big part of my life. Riding this bike has only been a part of it for 3 weeks. And at the moment, as much as I love getting a feel for it, I still love listening to music while I’m going along. At least with this Pack Talk Edge that I’ve just installed, I don’t have to put earbuds in anymore. Oh my god. They had the um every time I take the helm off the the earbuds would eject themselves. Sometimes they would lose the foam tips. Sometimes they wouldn’t. Sometimes I’d catch them in the helmet. Sometimes I catch them in the hand. I don’t know. They’re a pain. They’re a pain in the ass. Uh, so with where I’ve put this microphone, I’ve kind of connected it to um the Insta 360 mic is connected to like the nose funnel bit, if that makes any sense. Um, so we’ll have to test the audio when I get back later on tonight and we’ll see what it’s like. I don’t know if it’ll pick my voice up well. I don’t know if it’ll just pick up wind noise. I have no idea. First time using it. First time using the Insta 360 mic air. First time using the Pack Talk Edge. Um, I guess I just hoped it would all work together, you know, phone and whatnot, but it is what it is. So, my connectivity, I’m just one big walking Bluetooth lump at the moment. I’ve got um I’ve got my phone connected to my bike so that I’ve got my navigations on screen, although I obviously haven’t even swapped them, but they’re coming through the speaker anyway. So, um, so yeah. So, there I’ve got my I wonder if the mic will pick up the um the speakers from the pack edge actually as well. That could be cool for catching the chats and stuff we have. Uh, I will put the directions back on. Sorry, I’m an ADHD kid. So, every time I get distracted, I move on to a different topic. So, my currently my phone is connected to both my bike and my Pack Talk Edge. Um, and my uh Insta 360 is connected to an Insta 360 mic air. And that’s it. [Music] I was hoping, like I said, to have it all connected uh just to the pack edge. And I believe there is a way, like I was having a little quick gander before I jumped on the bike. It was um you swap the pack edge to the GPS mode or bike mode and in theory it should connect. Again, like I said, it’s just it’s kicking everything off. Really annoying. So, this is my general route to work. General um I am only in work for a few hours today. So, I thought the bike would be perfect for coming back at rush hour through town. Um I do love my bike. Like regardless, love my bike, love my car. They’re both fun to ride. Oh, this roundabout though is awful. I thought that lorry was going um [Music] [Applause] [Music] so Yeah, the roundabout is awful. I am still very new to this whole biking thing. Um, like I said, I think it’s in fact it’s about a month now I’ve been going getting used to it. I try to use the bike when it’s nice weather. Granted, it’s a bit overcast today, but it’s not going due to rain. Um, I’ve recently bought new gloves um with under gloves as well, so now my hands are literally just super warm. And the gloves I had previously were all um passed on to me by my dad and they they didn’t match the whole black and orange vibe that I’ve got going on. So that’s fine. Like they did they served me a month and then I got these ones. They actually it was more that they were just a bit colder. So it’s nice that I’ve moved on to um some windproof waterproof under gloves underneath these things. So yeah, literally there’s now no chill factor at all as it currently stands, which is lovely. Um, I do not have ear plugs in as it stands at the moment. Um, I do have some as in for wind reduction. I thought I’d give this a try, see what the helmet’s like. I know that this HTC Rafa 71 doesn’t have the best reviews with regards to wind reduction. So, um I kind of bought the wind reducing earplugs on that basis. But again, I haven’t actually tried it without earbuds yet because so far like me going to work this way through town, I I’ve never been 100% on the route because I’ve always just gone the motorway way as a learner and use motorway. So, needed to find out what the route was. So, so far I’ve always had my Galaxy Buds in. Um, you’re not pleasant. That’s still not pleasant. That’s better. Um, lost where I was up to. But yeah, no, sorry. I don’t have the ear plugs in at the moment. Just thought I’d test the water with regards to how it all sounds. There is a lot of wind noise. I can easily hear my um my speakers though for the directions, which is nice. I’ll be curious what the music volume’s like, but I’m aware that YouTube has some weird funny content ID stuff. So, me playing music while chatting away, it’ll end up picking up the music and any video I upload will just get blocked. which while I’m have no interest in building up a YouTube following, I’m just doing this mostly for keeping on top of my own abilities and tracking my improvements. I’m not going to say it would be nice to have a couple of people to chat to about the whole learning process. Um so, you know, whenever people have commented, it’s been lovely. Uh but, um yeah, I’m not risking playing music as yet. potentially if I make a music um potentially when I have videos that I just literally share to friends and family, then I can test what the music’s like with the wind noise. Again, with my route, I can’t be going above 60 anyway. Uh in fact, I think this entire journey, the highest speed limit I’ve got is 50 at any point. So, it’s literally irrelevant. Like, the wind noise for this point is actually not that bad. Lot of ambulances. I swear we just went past three ambulances. [Music] I so tempted to get to the front, but I don’t think I’ll fit through that. Hilarious. It probably would. I’m so intrigued how this is going to sound. But also, that is so annoying where the mic is. It’s literally right in my line of sight. Doesn’t block anything. It’s just distracting, which is exactly what you want on a motorbike. Uh, so yeah. So, this is my route to work. Um, pretty much straight through Southampton from Marchwood. It is a um traffic light heavy route. It’s kind of annoying for that. Very annoying for that. Oh, I swear to God if he fits through that. I’m going stopped or I would have stopped is like there’s no way I’m going to fit through that. Right, I’m going. Ah, so he’s just gone this way. Yeah, fine. [Music] Should have done that from the start, man. That is a lovely bike. Sounds better than this little peashooter. Oh. [Music] Oh. [Music] Oh yeah. I mean, I’m never keeping up with that. [Music] Hilarious. Oh man, that is beautiful. I do want my next bike to be something a bit meteor, but I am very content learning how to use a bike, ride a bike, maintain a bike as it stands right now. Like so I do have a Ford Focus ST as my car and I’m kind of used to keeping that running, you know, uh cleaning it constantly, etc. Keeping it ship shape. It’s not in the best uh state at the moment to be fair cuz it sat under a tree for a couple of days. [Music] But um my but this is a whole different ball game. You know, this is kind of we’re talking clean after long journeys, check the chain, check the tire pressures, all the rest of it. So, it’s just again with what I’ve come from, fine. I’m okay with all that. You know, I would check all my brakes pretty regularly anyway, check all my um check my tires over on my car. But this is, you know, if one of the wheels go, you know, you get a puncture on a car, you’ve got three other wheels to pick up the slack, you just pull over. One goes on this. It’s a bit more. Yeah. Keep on top of that. Yeah. [Music] [Music] Oh, so lovely. Well, I guess we’re not going anytime soon unless uh Yeah. Cool. [Music] Wait. [Music] [Music] What are you doing, [ __ ] lunatic? Jesus Christ. I’m not feeling the big bike. He is uh a little bit more experienced than me. Although, I swear to God, it’s nice that that guy decided to start jabbing into the left again. What the hell was that? It’s like he was thinking about going right and decided against it massively. [Music] [Music] [ __ ] idiot. [Music] Ah, I’m not sure. Was I overly reckless then? like there’s nobody there in my um mirror. I cannot get those correct. There we go. That’s a bit better. And then that [ __ ] car. Oh, excuse my French, but that car before that was horrifying to look at. [Music] [Music] [Music] love rev bombing in neutral. That is my favorite thing to do. said, “Nobody ever. [Music] Yo, Oh, [Music] it’s quite nice being behind a bike. [Laughter] Heat. [Applause] [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] [Laughter] I’m a head nodder and out to everybody. Oh man, that was fun. Yeah, man. That was fun being behind a bike. I swear, first time I saw it, I thought it was a CB 750. I think it was just the 750 that I saw. Um, obviously it wasn’t until I got a little bit closer. I was like, “Ah, Suzuki, they’re nice.” I think I want my next bike to be something a bit sportier. Um, I love this. This is a fantastic little bike. Um, not that I have any experience experience with which to, you know, compare it to. You know, my long list of bikes ridden include the CBT bike and this bike. And I’ll be damned if I can remember what the CBT bike was. Uh so yeah, this is this is my own experience. I really wanted um the either the R125 or the Ninja 125 or I’d have then after that I was sworn between this and the Kawazaki Z125. But the um the insurance on the sports fairing ones was ludicrous. So I was like, you know what? I’ll go for the um hyper naked, the hyper naked bike instead. And I’m fine with that. It’s lovely, but it feels like it’s spinning. Can’t be good. I’m not even holding that, but okay. [Music] [Music] [Laughter] Yep. Sweet. [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] God, I know you’re supposed to check your mirrors before you pull away, and I’m still obviously still new, still getting used to that. But that little electric scooter that pulled up on my left. That totally surprised me. I was not looking left. Didn’t look left at all. Just didn’t expect somebody to suddenly be there. Granted, you know, it’s not like I’m swerving into them, but still they surprised me. have concerns that the uh video on this will be weird now considering the camera was spinning. I mustn’t have tightened that enough. Good job. It’s a uh good job it’s a thread, isn’t it? Oh, that bus is going to be an absolute pain in the ass, you know. So, here’s a funny story. Probably shouldn’t say this, but again, if I was going to do it, better off doing it in the uh at the start of my YouTube um Jesus, the start of my motorcycleycling uh career experiences. So, the other day I um so yeah, I mean I shouldn’t, but this is it’s just so dumb and I was so mortified and it’s so funny. It’d be difficult not to share it. So, I go to Sportback shop. There’s one opened up in Southampton uh start of August. Anyway, I’m there to pick up new gloves. Lovely. So, pop in. I’m in there for a little bit, have a chat cuz the the staff there are lovely. They’re all really really enthusiastic about motorcycleycling as I imagine you would be if you worked there. Surely helps. Anyway, uh I get outside. There’s a a big bike I’d parked next to. Um and as I’m kind of like setting up to head off, uh the guy is also setting up and he starts chatting away. He’s like, “Oh, what’s going on?” It was just it was a lovely chat. Really nice. I love how friendly um the whole biker community is or at least has been so far. Um it’s it’s been lovely. Stop that and watch. Yep. Okay. [Music] I don’t know what just happened there, but the voice navigating me went from female to male to female again in the space of two instructions. I’m so confused. Anyway, uh yeah, so I’m there chatting away to this guy. I think I’d uh I finished prepping to leave before him, you know, no rush, but yeah, fine. Perfect. So, uh I start pulling away. bike doesn’t go anywhere. I’m like, “What the hell is happening here? This is so bizarre.” Um, I imagine people might guess where this is going. So, I uh like, “Okay, that’s weird.” I mean, I I I am not a quick I don’t pull away quickly unless I’m at the lights. Um, and even then, when I’m at the lights, I only generally pull away quickly if I’m at the front and I’m trying not to be hit by a car behind me because I’ve just pulled in front of them and I don’t want to upset them. So, I don’t want to be the the slow coach. Anyway, um so I’m like, I’ll try again. Pull away again. Absolutely nothing. And this time the bike cuts out and I’m like, well, this is what’s happening. What’s going on with the bike? Why is the bike broken? I have breakdown cover. Fine. Um this is just annoying. So, I am suddenly hit with this absolute flash of realization that I am trying to pull away while my Hiplock DX1000 is currently through the back wheel and I have now swung that around and started repeatedly smashing it into the rear brake setup and I’m like, “Oh my god, what have I done?” Also, not to mention um the weekend prior to this, I’d been I’d picked up this um it’s called the RST Maverick Evo set because the temperature plummeted here in the UK massively almost overnight. You know, we had 25° one day, suddenly we’ve got 12 degrees next. I’m like, “Oh my god, I’m cold in everything I’m wearing.” It’s since climbed back up again. Hence, just in a leather jacket today. But this um this kit was warm. So, I’m now boiling hot, sweating, mortified, embarrassed, horrified. This whole situation has just thrown me. And I’m like, “Oh my god, this is the worst thing that could happen to anybody ever.” It’s not. It absolutely couldn’t be. It’s definitely isn’t. There are so many worst things happening in the world. It’s probably not even the worst thing that’s happened to me. At Christ, I’ve been I was schooled as a child. It’s definitely not the worst thing that’s happened to me. But either way, at that moment in time, this is the worst thing that could possibly have happened ever. Not to mention this guy’s there. He’s like, “Oh, I thought something looked a bit weird as you were trying to blow away.” I was like, “Whoa.” Yeah. Oh my god. What have I done? So anyway, um we then Well, I’m then there trying to not trying. I then undo my hip lock, pull it out. Like as I’m trying to put the hip lock back together to put in my bike, I think I’ve ever so slightly twisted. It still locks back up again now, but it’s ever so slightly twisted it so it’s just a bit more fussy. Like I have to basically have it done perfectly for it to lock back together now. Uh unfortunately, but um and then I’m like, “Oh, okay. Well, this is awful. This is absolutely awful.” So, I um I go back in Sport Bike Shop after this other guy’s ch left. Um we say our farewells and I go in Sport Bike Shop again. I speak to the guy that I’ve been chatting to for ages and I’m just like m I am absolutely horrified by this and I’m so embarrassed. I’m so sorry to mess you around, but I don’t suppose anybody in this shop has any sort of Didn’t mean to indicate that there. um any sort of mechanical knowledge by any chance because I Oh, sorry. Yeah, there was an in between bit. Um before I go back in sport bike shop, the other guy goes, I’m buzzing cuz it didn’t look like there’s any damage. So, I start trying to ride off. I put my foot I test the back brake. Absolutely nothing. Just pure sponge. And my uh bike is now covered in brake fluid. So, I’m like, “Okay, cool.” So, I turn around then go back to Sportback Bike Shop and I’m like, “Oh, mate. I am so mortified by this situation. But I don’t suppose any of you have any sort of um uh bike knowledge because I have uh just rammed my rear lock into my brake and now it’s pissing brake fluid absolutely everywhere. He’s like, “What?” And so then literally two of them come out, two of the staff members come out, one of them goes grabs a rag as well, but they’re looking at it and they’re like, “Right, you actually, it looks like you haven’t done anything major to it. It looks like um it’s just a little Please don’t go now. Yeah, it doesn’t look like you’ve got anything major to it, but um you’re going to have to ride a little bit. See if the ABS sensor light goes off. I did. It did. So, that was a win. Um, and you’re gonna have to be careful and just basically ride home using your front brakes. I’m like, I’ve got bradown cover. Is it worth going out? It’s like, no, mate. Just you, you know, most braking on a bike is 8% through the uh front brakes, so I won’t worry about it too much. Just get yourself home potentially try and book into your nearest motorcycle like mechanic shop and they’ll have a look at it for you, see what they need to do. They might have to strip it all down. Okay, thank you so much. It’s like, don’t worry about it, man. There’s um here you drove an empty 09 and he was like, you know, I um like day one I think I I flawed it. Um so all the all the front forks are all scratched. I can’t remember what he said he did, but I suppose that’s by the um the um there was another guy there that was riding around with a Grom that um where all the brakes had failed on him in that morning. So he’d had to get to work on it, but he just engineed everywhere. So he was like, you know, you you can ride them. It’s not an issue. just you have to be infinitely more road aware and careful. Um so just um you’ll be okay. Anyway, on my way back I’m not I’m still obviously very annoyed with myself. Still sweating. Still sweating. Um still furious at myself. I’m angry. I’m just like I just want to cuddle. I want to go home. I want to be in my bed. Um but um yeah, the um I probably should have dropped that to third to be fair. I um I stop off at a place in Tossen called um Venture Motorcycles. Uh I I didn’t even know if they were a mechanic shop, if they’re a bike sales shop, whatever. Anyway, stop in there. I’m going to pull up outside. There’s like, you know, maybe six bikes in the showroom at the front and then it’s literally it’s just one big mechanic. So, I’m like, “Oh, thank God.” So, I walk in there waiting for these guys to come out and I explain what I’ve done. Again, just call me a muppet. Said, “We’ve all done it. That’s why reminder cables are even a thing.” Um, which makes sense. Uh, and they there and then absolute bloody heroes there and then they checked the um went through the brakes. Uh, had to bleed it all through, tightened all the nuts and bolts and yeah, I had literally I had just um loosened the nuts and bolt the the cable that feeds the brakes. I just loosened that. That’s why it was pissing brake fluid everywhere. Um, cost me 16 quid. Thank god. Uh, I genuinely expected that to be a much much much more expensive repair job. So, I can’t argue with that. The guy was just like, just um make sure you try and just drag the brake a little bit because you’re going to have brake fluid everywhere. Um, so the pads will be quite smooth and slippery right now. But yeah, so that that was lovely. That was an embarrassing, mortifying, horrifying, frustrating, very angry moment of mine. Yay. And this is work. Super fun. Wonder if I maybe take my helmet off today. I was beyond frustrating the other day, obviously. Hey, man. Neutral. Oh, [ __ ] There you go, mate. Thank you, man. Oh, and yourself. Thanks, man. That’s the only downside of working here I think with a motorbike. There’s not really any downsides of working here at all but um yeah the stop at the gate is a bit of a pain. The other day for the first time one of them made me take my helmet off which is absolutely their right. Um, oh my god, is it a pain? Uh, because obviously I’ve only just got the Pack Talk and I’ve only just got the um everything set up so it’s all wireless. So, previously I was have my earbuds in or my Galaxy Buds and they like to eject themselves forcefully from my ears. So, they went everywhere. Obviously, I’m at the gate. There’s now three cars behind me. Oh my god. Oh, what is life? if not a bundle of catastrophes from one to the next. [Music] Hello And there is
