This is the unbelievable true story of Gustaf HÃ¥kansson, the 66-year-old Swede they said was too old to race. In 1951, he was denied entry into the 1,000-mile “Swedish VÃ¥rgÃ¥rda” bike race for being a senior citizen. But “Super Grandpa” (StÃ¥lfarfar) had other plans.
He started the race unofficially, pedaling on his own. While younger, professional cyclists slept, Gustaf rode non-stop for over 6 days, sleeping only in short naps by the roadside. Defying all odds, he finished first—a full day ahead of the official winner—becoming a national folk hero and proving that determination is more powerful than any rule book.
