The Chorlton to Deansgate Cycleway is now complete!

This brand-new segregated cycle route connects the city centre to Chorlton, making cycling safer, greener, and more accessible for everyone in Manchester.

Hear what Dame Sarah Storey, Councillor Tracey Rawlins, and some of our youngest Mancunians have to say about the transformation and what it means for the future of travel in our city.

Getting between Manchester City Center and Chelton by bike is safer and easier now thanks to the Manchester Chton cycle way. Cyclists can now ride to and from the city on a fourmile fully protected route that features segregated cycleways and a series of protected junctions. They ensure that pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists are all kept separated to avoid collision risks. It’s been great to spend some time with the children that have been down here on the route today as well. Many of the youngsters told me how the cycle way has helped with their journeys to school, making them feel safer and allowing them to travel more independently outside of school hours, too. Yeah, I felt really safe like how they created bike lanes. It’s really nice and I just enjoyed it. It’s really and it’s like it’s a bit of exercise to train your legs as well. It’s really nice. It’s a cycle way that really is helping the whole community and we’ve seen an increase in pedestrian journeys as well as the cycle journeys along the whole route. [Music]
