There is one thing that I don’t like about e- mountain bikes uh that could be a massive pain in the ass. It can make a bike go from feeling like a million dollars to a bag of nails. And that is the speed cut off. At 15.5 miles per hour in the UK, silence, zero

  1. I agree on my non e-bike on the road I can hit 25-30 on the flat. One my e-bike I hit 20 the other day and that was a slog. I’m sure the motor was dragging

  2. It’s ridiculous you get an e-bike basically to follow the group when climbing and be able to keep the flow on downhills but when the flat arrives the group has to wait for you anyway…

  3. That hit me hard, I’am so sorry for you. Ism considering getting an E-bike. But it would have to be able to outrun Anatolian Sheppards, Great Pyrenees and theres this one breed….thats odd, i cant seem to recall its name. Big Dog suffices.

  4. I'm riding a Yamaha equipped eMTB (Haibike Alltrack 5) and I'd agree speed cut off sucks. But I've found it's far less noticeable on lower assist modes, on the Eco mode (which is two down from Max assist and one up from minimum) the speed cut off is barely noticeable. Plus I get better range and increased fitness… win win for me. 😀

  5. Sharp cutoff is a wet blanket. You can sort of bounce speed on the flat from 25 to 28kph with surges and rests. Some regions have 32kph assistance cutoff. Case could be made to have a reduction in assistance from 25kph to 32kph.
