Cycling Normandy and Seine Episode 4 (2024): Calais to Boulogne sur Mer

Episode 4 shows cycling from Calais to Boulogne sur mer on the EV4.

[Music] s [Music] all right we’re just getting organized for our trip from Cal to where are we going bon bon and uh it’s going to be a lot easier for me today because for the last two days 25 km into dkirk and the 50 odd km here kept thinking this batter is just not really doing very much for me um but there’s a part of the app that actually turns it off for security thing so I haven’t had a battery for 2 days was wondering why it was 50 km for 4% that’s why so today is going to be a lot easier looking forward to it and we’re we’re off we got to conserve some energy in Jackie’s bike today today because it does sort of about 40 odk depending on whether it’s a Tailwind or a headwind but 50k up and downhills it does not do so uh we’ve got a bit of a challenge figuring out how to make all of that work today but I guess we got all day to fix it so we’re heading out of K along the coast to the West traveling on the ev4 we’ve come off the coast to go up a hill and we suspect that there’s a great VI up the top well we’re about 12 km west of CA and we’ve just got to the top of the hill and we’ve been having a chat with some other cists in terrible French um not really terrible but on a fine day you can see England from [Music] here pretty spectacular though it’s really really beautiful lovely day to ride today the weather’s good and after um today most well it’s a lot more flat what w it’s so good and you get to the top of the hill and you start to go down the other side 45k I don’t think I’m getting any bory assist oh natural coming into SK it’s it’s oh I leaks or whatever yep we’ll end up down the bottom go through some fields that looks like there’s a town down here called escal then we’re going on the 940 oh joins up there no no no let should take the bottom you think yeah yeah join back on okay otherwise we’ve got one Hill to go up and then everything’s downhill okay let’s go go up the hill y okay let’s go up the H let’s just go up the H are we making the right decision we are all right good [Music] [Music] [Music] just walked up this bit of a hill cuz it’s pretty steep and it uses up the battery we are 30 km from bolog Su and we’re looking across there I don’t know if it’s easy to see in this but it is the White Cliffs of DOA pretty spe pretty Specky lovely day to be cycling there’s the rest of our little Hill and we’re on our way that looks like the ferry are they’re going to DOA or coming from DOA I guess few more cyclists down here aren’t they doesn’t matter which direction you come from got to climb up a big hill a little bit of downhill get some speed up so can get up this next Hill we got it P lots of birds don’t know what we can pick up thousands of birds over there that must have just moaned or plowed or something here we go down the other side e TI thing up P you [Music] [Music] so what time are we [Music] in so we’ve come here for lunch and we’re having a [Music] sandwich what is it taste like [Music] that’s okay we’ve got the shifts thumbs up [Music] well we’ve soed out of wiard we had lunch there in a lovely restaurant on the beach we gone up a few more Hills it’s really quite difficult after big lunch but here we are we’ come Overhill more fantastic uh B the English Channel and the Farmland so much like uh devonport sassa fras and all that rich land land down on the northwest coast reminds me really reminds me of that very beautiful [Music] [Music] [Music] all right I’m taking this up the feel [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] not going to go on the E [Music] [Music] [Music] Bo [Music] looks like got a pool down here it’s the SC [Music] the fish markets on the canal front a canal River really but I think it’s like a canal front at balons New Lots of nice prawns and herring it was a really nice dinner and I really enjoyed the one I wish I didn’t that I really [Music]
