Finally got my hands on this! I believe it’s not an impulse purchase because I’ve thought about this for close to two months. I’ve read some of the threads here and they are very helpful! Thanks folks. Also thanks to James and the other lady at the extremely busy Brompton Junction today!

One of the major reasons I got a Brompton is the flexibility. I have a full-sized bike which I use on my 3 days/week commute from west to central London but I like the idea of not having to lock my bike for a quick errand. And sometimes I get lazy and want to jump on the Tube/bus. Also bringing my other bike on the underground had previously prompted some people to kiss their teeth while they had to walk around my bike. I don’t like the feeling of inconveniencing people even if I know I’m allowed to bring it after 7pm.

That said, it’s only the first day of me with the bike and I brought it to a mosque right after collecting it. Mind you I am still struggling to fold it so I looked like a klutz trying to fold it outside the mosque minutes before the prayer started. Only to accidentally unfold and bang it against the glass door 😅 What felt like a sense of solidarity was an old chap rolled his in like a boss and asked if I had a cover. He gave some tips and when I came in, he already had his on the ledge in the prayer hall. Legend. He even brought his as he went to take his ablution so I’m guessing the saying “my Brompton goes wherever I go” is serious.

I then went to IKEA on Oxford Street to grab the dimpa bag. If you ever go, try not to go on a weekend because it took me close to an hour just to get it + awkwardly manoeuvring it in the store. If you are rushing to get one, they have stacked some near check-out. If the queue is too long, grab it then go to ground floor where they have mini check-out desks near the entrance. No hassle at all from security.

Cycled home to Hammersmith. Went out, cycled to near Heathrow and back. I was near Boston Manor when I thought wow this bike is already getting battered on its first day.

I walked from Hammersmith to Brompton Junction to collect the bike today because the weather was nice. Exhausted is an understatement but it’s been fun. I hope to keep this for many generations to come. I have been trying to spend less but I know and hope this purchase is an investment, not a write-off.

I sent the photos to my parents, who I don’t live with. I recalled the days my dad would put my first ever bike in the boot and drive us to a lake so he could teach me to cycle on its periphery while my mum brought some food for picnic. Sometimes minor things like this make you recall good times.

Pulled off the sticker before I get chastised here 🤣

Apologies for the yap! Keep spinning folks.
