Hi, today I’m in Tampere, Finland. I’m cycling through Ti Rockin Katu. The name Thie Rockin Katu literally means brick works street. And that’s not just a name. Back in the 1800s, this area was home to brick factories that supplied materials for Tampere’s fast growing city. [Music] Tilrokin Katu was one of the roads that connected those workingclass neighborhoods to the heart of the city. At that moment, Tempe earned the nickname the Manchester of Finland. [Music] When you walk here today, the street stills has the old industrial vibe, red brick buildings, narrow sidewalks, and a mix of homes and workshops. It feels like stepping into another era. [Music] So, Trokin Katu may be short and quiet, but it’s scary is a big part of Tampere’s industrial history in its name and its surroundings. If you like this street stories, follow me. More Tampere roots are coming up next.
