Day 4 of my Pyrenees adventure takes me deep into the heart of the mountains, crossing from France into Spain.
Leaving the medieval charm of Mars da Azil behind, I head south toward Lourdes, then climb through Laruns into the high Pyrenees.

The weather isn’t cooperating today – heavy rain and mist follow me through the mountain passes – but that’s part of the adventure.
The roads are slick, visibility is limited, and the temperature drops as I climb higher into the alpine zone.

Then comes the unexpected: rounding a tight corner, I encounter a massive herd of sheep and cows blocking the entire road.
Hundreds of animals, bells clanging, and one particularly bold cow decides to charge toward me!
Heart racing, I carefully navigate through the chaos while the shepherd waves me through.

The route from Laruns through Formigal ski resort to Biescas is legendary among motorcycle riders.
Even through the rain and fog, the dramatic alpine scenery is breathtaking – towering peaks, cascading waterfalls, and endless switchbacks.

This is what riding the Pyrenees is all about: unpredictable weather, wildlife encounters, and roads that test your skills.
I’ll be back on a sunny day to capture these views properly, but today’s raw, misty mountain experience is something special.
