Follow along as I make my trek over the pond for the first time ahead of the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships. I’ll be staying just across the border in Belgium in the week leading up. In the next few days I’ll have some more content as to what my daily life is looking like while here, both on the bike and as a tourist!

All right, time to head to the airport. Got all my luggage here, backpack, couple suitcases, my bikes hiding back there. Um, but yeah, ready to go. So, luckily, uh, Chandler’s mom, Joyce, is kind enough to drive me to the airport. So, driving over to their place that I can pick her up and she can take me to the airport. So, yeah, first flight from, uh, Indie to O’Hare and then we’ll head uh, straight to Brussels from there after a bit of a layover. So, I’ll check in with you guys once I get to the airport. flying flying out of Indie with my uh layover in O’Hare or at O’Hare. So, I’ll be able to to fly straight to Brussels and my parents, which is quite nice. Um, so yeah, bags are dropped off, bikes dropped off. Um, just had some some lunch without a salad and some fruit. Uh, just try to stay, I guess, kind of healthy at the airport, but uh it’ll be a long travel day, so I’m sure I’ll have some some junk food uh in there. somewhere. But yeah, just uh getting the the travel day started. Got here pretty early just to get the bag dropped off, got through security, make sure there was no issues. Um you know, it’s first time traveling overseas, so especially with the bike. I mean, first time flying with a bike period. So, bit of a I don’t know, anxiety um stressing stressing that. Uh, not that I’m necessarily worried about anything happening, just you never know, right? Uh, it’s a lot more controlled when you’re able to drive through a race or something or, you know, you’re the one putting on the bike rack. You know, obviously pack the the bike best I can. Uh, pretty confident in the the bag I have. So, like I said, I’m not worried about anything really. It’s just, you know, you just kind of want to get there. um you know, you want to get there and make sure everything’s uh in one piece or you know, nothing’s missing. You know, you didn’t run into any issues. Um you know, it’s just that unknown that you can have a little bit of anxiety towards um but you know, some of that’s just not in my control. It just kind of is what it is. So, um just kind of have to accept that and not not worry too much and just try to you know, enjoy the the travel day. Um, it’s exciting, right? I mean, I’ve never never been to Europe, so the the opportunity to go there and uh and race and race for Team USA next weekend is um obviously something I’m extremely grateful for, extremely proud of. So, just trying to trying to keep all that in mind when when the anxiety and the stress kind of starts to build up. But yeah, so I’ll be boarding here in like uh 30 40 minutes. Um so yeah, quick flight over to O’Hare. Um got about a 3-hour layover, so I’ll see my parents um when I get there. Then yeah, direct flight straight to Brussels. So, um hopefully can get there pretty easily, have no issues, and then probably grab some bit more food before the flight and then yeah, hopefully uh hopefully the sleeping pills uh can can put me to sleep for the 8 hour flight and I can land in in Europe well rested and with all my luggage and uh all my parents and luggage and my dad’s bike, too. So yeah, we’ll get there, grab the rental car, and start heading to the to the house. So yeah, for uh for right now, that’s that’s all I got. So I’ll check back in uh in a little bit. Hello. All right, we’ve made it to Belgium. I’ll probably end the end the the video off with this clip. So, yeah, just getting a little spin out of the legs. Uh just enjoying the Belgian summer. Nice. It’s uh 50 and rain all day pretty much. But yeah, didn’t film as much as I wanted to without the day. Was a bit more hectic than I maybe would have thought. Um but you know, kind of expected with the trip. Um a lot of firsts, a lot of unknowns, but yeah, everything made it here safely in one piece. Uh the house is super nice. Um had lunch earlier. great little uh plant-based spot that we just kind of happened upon. Didn’t realize it was going to be plant-based, but you know, for me being vegetarian, pescatarian, worked out quite well. But yeah, so just going to finish spinning out. Got a massage scheduled for tonight. And then yeah, just uh try to catch up on some sleep. So, thanks everyone for watching. Uh I’ll get uh get some videos going here soon.
