The final episode of the Radbahn series takes us from Schlesisches Tor, once the last stop on the western U-Bahn when Berlin was divided, across the Oberbaumbrücke to Warschauer Straße. A fitting journey to share today on German Reunification Day.

The Radbahn reminds us that cities are layered in history. Even as buildings change, the paths and spaces we move through still carry traces of centuries of growth. Reconnecting these layers could put people back first in the city.

Do you think Berlin deserves a bike path like the Radbahn?

Did you know this uban station was the last stop when the Berlin wall divided east and west? Our next stop is [Music] this is one of my favorite uban stations. Both the brick work, elegant form and the timber structure and ceilings inside give the platforms a natural warmth. Named after the old city gate that once led towards Sesia, its ornate design and location by the Uber bounder made it not just a transport hub but also a cultural landmark. As we follow the tracks curving towards the shri, grab a burger in an old Berlin public toilet. These cast iron public toilets were designed in the late 1800s and are a signature of Berlin’s street architecture. We now approach the orbound brooker to cross Berlin’s main river. Like the other gates, its role was to collect tolls, but here the bridge was a water gate for ships passing by. Our next stop, directly after the bridge, is no longer there. Atur is a forgotten station that was never rebuilt after being destroyed in the war. This charming station deserves its own video some other time. So, finally, that takes us to Vasha and the end of our Radban journey. The station opened under the name Vasha Burka and it was the original terminus of the elevated rail line. So that means Dafad ended here. The industrial brick vioaduct takes you all the way up the incline. You’ll pass this lovely signal box on the way that is delightfully in proportion with the station and trains. At the top, the station links directly both to trams and Espan, making it one of the city’s busiest transit interchanges and a fitting place to end a fascinating bike ride across Berlin. So, let’s recap. We started way over in the west by Tuloga Garden. Cycled through the forgotten garden plaza in Nolandorf Plats. Rode into the park that was once a heavy industrial railard. Pulled up parallel with the city’s main artery canal. Past a forgotten canal. Followed the historic city wall in its former gates and finally arrived at the waterfront and one of the most beautiful bridges in the city. I truly hope you enjoyed this series as much as I loved making it. Let me know your thoughts and follow if you’d like to see

  1. Haha, didn't notice before that it is so difficult to pronounce. Luckily for foreigners, there is no Eichhörnchenstraße 😅

  2. I followed this series from start to end and it was wonderful! The editing is polished, the length is perfect, you included so much I didn’t know yet. Thank you for this little series, I am looking forward to what you will cook next
