[Music] Brilliant from Dylan Fletcher. God, it feels better, doesn’t it? Emirates GBR are six points clear at the top. The pressure is on. Oh, it’s tight there, Dylan. Look at this. Can they maintain their position in front of the home crowd? Switzerland, the Bonds Flying Ruse, and New Zealand’s Black Boils are all poised to steal the show. Strap yourselves in. Stay tuned. This is going to be wild. Welcome to Sale GP. Waves crash underneath sound like thunder speaking. Flying cars and machines driven by the world’s best. Yes. Powered by nature. Powered by nature. All passion. All action. What would it take? Racing on water. Racing with impact. Give it all everything. Give it all everything. We are racing when it takes what it takes. We all a vital European waterway becomes the backdrop as the world’s best sailors converge on the English Channel for a showdown on the Solent. The second half of Sale GP’s fifth season begins on the south coast of England in the historic maritime city of Portsouth. A huge crowd is expected to fill the grand stands for the latest edition of Super Sunday. Today, the 12 international teams will battle for supremacy on the water and on the leaderboard. So, with one day of racing already complete, who will be the quick study? And who still needs to master the tricky currents and windships that are common in this British sailing hotbed on the South Coast? Alongside Olympian Stevie Morrison and former team GB athlete Hannah Diamond, I’m Todd Harris. Welcome to the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix Portsouth. Six events are complete with another six to go until we reach the season’s end and the grand final. Next will be a first time visit to Sassnis, Germany, a return to Sanrope, France, and then another visit with a stop on Lake Geneva in Switzerland before the league arrives in Kadis, Spain. Season 5 will conclude in Abu Dhabi at the end of November and a champion will be crowned. Coming to Portsmith, the season 5 standings showed a change at the top after event six with Spain taking over the top position. The Bonds flying roof sits second just one point back and then New Zealand third. Emirates GBR just outside the top three with Northstar Canada rounding up the top five. After the New York City event, it’s France and Switzerland that are still in the hunt, but a big drop off to the bottom four teams, however, and there’s still five events to go until we reach Abu Dhabi in November. Day one of the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix Portsmith got off to a tough start for France when a major wing incident meant they were unable to race and much to the delight of the huge grandstand. Emirates GBR made a statement in race one. Brilliant from Dylan Fletcher and Emirates Great Britain. He’s going to lead a mile. Race number one at the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix Portsouth goes the way of the home team. Oh my god, that was so tight. Dylan was punchy round there. It was the Swiss that managed to fend off the onformed Brits in race two and went on to claim an allimportant victory. Oh, that’s some Emirates winning moment for the Swiss team. The Brits and the Swiss went on to score another set of top three results, but it was New Zealand that claimed the race win in race three. This Kiwi is going to enjoy this. The Bonds Flying Ruse struggled in the opening races. Perfect from the Ruse, but by race four, they were back on their usual form. Following up. Nice one. A notable performance from new team Red Bull Italy. Two third places see them fighting for a podium spot with New Zealand. It was all smiles for Emirates GBR. They were never outside the top three. They dominate the day one standings. Fletcher on fire. After four races on day one, it is the home team in first, six points clear of the Swiss and 10 points ahead of the Bonds Flying Ruse and the Black Boys of New Zealand. Red Bull Italy had a great day one and sit in fifth overall. For Spain, the winners of the last two events, there is zero room for mistake today if they have any hope of making the top three. And a rough day for the Danes, Germans, Brazilians, Americans, and Canadians. Well, and after yesterday’s amazing first four races, we’re back again today with three more qualifying races. Race winners going to get themselves 10 points. If you’re 10th, you still get one, but none if you’re in the last two. Accumulate those points. Top three go to the winner take all event final. Our race course today is situated just outside Portsouth Harbor on the south coast of the UK. Teams will be lining up to cross the start with speed before taking a left turn at mark one and heading down to gate two where they can choose to turn either left or right. From here it’s away from the shoreline against the wind to gate three where they will complete two laps of the course. Teams will have to navigate around Spitbank 4 which sits in the middle of the course and produces a significant wind shadow. There’s also some windblown chop and tide to contend with making the boat harder to keep stable on the foils. Teams will then make a final left turn towards the finish in front of the fans in the grand stand. [Music] And there are the teams getting ready for the first race of the day. We check in now with the fourth member of our broadcast team. Here is Olympic silver medalist Lisa Darmman. Well, more fantastic conditions today on the Solent. Breeze is up around 25 km/h, gusting to 30 km/h from the southwest. So, similar direction to yesterday. Configuration wise in the sky, we’ve got the 24 m allpurpose wing and J2 front sail. under the water, high-speed T foils, and light air rudders. So, full send mode out here. And I’ve got some great news, and that is following an amazing allnight effort from the Sale GP tech team, France will race today with a fully rebuilt 24 m wing sail comprising of new and salvaged parts from the team’s existing wing. The wing was tested and commissioned this morning, and they are ready to line up on this start line. So, just incredible effort from all those involved and can’t wait to see them racing. Thank you much, Lisa. as we come up on 90 seconds to go until the first race here on Super Sunday. That is race number five as we get underway with the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix. Portsmith and a big tip of the cap to the shore teams. They are absolute rock stars. And there are the teams, all 12 of them ready to go racing as team France is back on the water. And that’s the best news we’ve heard all day, Hannah. They look very sharp. We’ll see what they can do today. Yeah, they’ll be really excited to get base back racing, that’s for sure. And we’ve got some epic conditions for racing today. And a big hurry to get in that start box, Stevie. Okay, this is where the dance begins. We’ve had a chatter about this. Now you see where the preferred line is. It’s more in the middle of the box. Why has that changed from yesterday? Well, I think they’re just trying to even things out a little bit, but it’s a very, very short run to mark one. That’s off the right hand side of our screen. And basically, if you’re stuck too far up the line, you’re going to end up on the outside of the turn. So, this start will be crucial. USA seem to have stopped with a bit of a problem here. Not sure what’s happened to them. Bit of a disaster before the first race of the day here, but it’s tight in the pack. Germany, they’re going the wrong way at the moment. A little out of control. It’s absolutely like Piccadilly Circus at the moment in that start line. The Bonds flying ruse are well positioned towards the bottom of the line, but they’re going to have to keep clear of France. It’s all lining up for a tight blanket start here. The Swiss at the bottom are going to try and find in top of the line. Rolex pole predictor sits on board Muba Brazil, but New Zealand have total control of them. It’s all about acceleration now. Look for the black foils to wind it up. Northstar Canada. Well positioned now. Looking for the line to turn right. Who’s got it right? Perfect from Northstar Canada out the middle and they’re going to be able to drop the hammer from here. Charles Scott’s going to wind it up and send it towards Mark One. And there go the black foils on the charge. No need for elbows out for the Canadians as they hit mark number one in first place. They get the whole shot. The Kiwis sit in second place. Germany Deutsche Bank in third and the inside. It’s Emmer GBR who control that position and they’ve slightly squared the course up a bit here. Todd, you can carry on after Mark one a bit. Look at this bonds flying ruse in last place at mark one of those boats currently racing. Emirates Great Britain. Another good race. Spain current championship leaders are in the middle of the pack. It’s going to be an absolute scrap and expect some carnage at gate two working it up. And if there wasn’t already enough traffic furniture out there with the channel markers, Hannah Diamond, the US now sitting right in the middle. So you have to avoid them as well as they are dead in the water. Yeah, that’s right. Really not an ideal start for the US LGP team here. But Northstar Canada came really cleanly out of that mark. Looks like that left hand side is favored again for this gate two. Yeah, they need to try and, you know, tidy their game up Northstar Canada. They had a really tough day yesterday, but once they’re out in front, this is their first chance in the lead. So probably their first real test of how the boat speed is today. Okay, they’ll get to see are they quick, are they not? At top of our screen, it’s Spain that have turned right. Lisa, the course yesterday was pretty favored for a lefthand turn. How are you feeling about the right hand turn for Spain this time? I still think that the left hand turn will be favored. So that means they’re gaining just a couple of hundred meters by by rounding that mark. The course is probably a little bit more even than yesterday windwise, but Canada’s looking pretty strong right now. Canada needs a big performance today. If you look at their report card from yesterday, race number one, they got sixth. The second race they got eighth and then they really dropped down to an 11th and then a ninth. So they are desperately need a little word from Jo Scott there talking about a tidle gain. Of course, one of the unique features of the Solent is there is a lot of current, a lot of tide out there and that is affecting the course. So you can effectively minimize the amount of treadmill you’re having to sail against by putting yourself in a favorable position on the current. up slightly. We can see a much more open course than yesterday. You can see the boats going all the way to the top of the screen there before they start their way back where they pick their next gate mark and choose their way around gate three. Tight move in front by Canada there. I’m surprised he didn’t go a little bit further. They’ve kind of opened the door for the Black Foils. I think they could have maneuvered a bit more directly in front. I anticipate a lead change here. This could well be the Black Foils leading up at gate three. That’s not good news for the Canadians cuz they were in a real controlling position before that. Spanish three now. So New Zealand almost pulling dead even. They are actually in first place right now. Edited the Canadians and they need a big day as well. And as you look at what they did in the second half of yesterday’s four races, the Kiwis won race five, but then they followed up with race four with dead last. Here we go. New Zealand got to keep clear of Canada here. They will be looking to turn right in front. I think the Black Flo react there. They’ve opened the door for the Canadians. Oh, but they’ve timed it well. Berling, I shouldn’t have questioned that. Perfect from the Black Foil slam dunk on top of the Canadian boat as they round gate three. Northstar Canada will follow the Black Foils in second place and it’s Spain currently in third. And here we go. It gets a little tight. This was the same story yesterday, Hannah. Very tight at this part of the course. Two green circles there, but it’s actually the Swiss that need to keep clear in that situation. Windward boat must keep clear. What a great sight. Here come the French. Nice to see them back on the water. Dela Pierz kind of conditions. Expect the French to wind it up. They’ll be full send on board that French boat from here. Let’s just stay. You stay there if you’re okay. So Luke Park is on the right hand side of the screen here. He’s not. He’s actually flying the boat from the wrong side. Hannah. Yeah. And you know some of the teams would prefer to do that if they know that they’ve got maneuver coming up. Just stops that unsettling of the boat while the flight controller crosses. And there is the front of the fleet right now. This is race number five. We’ve got two more fleet races and of course the event final coming up. Only the top three teams. Look at these points to if it stays like this in that race to the umpire penalty Switzerland uh not giving room at the boundary. Go behind France. Switzerland. You got to avoid the mistakes out there today. We saw that meeting, didn’t we? They’ve called in a bit of time with Roger Federra, you know, and that’s a bit like hitting an unforced error on a tennis court there. You could have seen that coming a little bit early. He will have learned a lot from talking to Roger Federra, but Roger Federer did not make the simple mistakes. And it is the Kiwis, the black foils that reach the DP World Gate. There they make the turn. Northstar Canada, Giles Scott right behind them. So there you have two Olympic gold medalists going headtohead right now. Stevie Spain bring another Olympic gold medalist into the picture. So there is medals all over this course. Yeah, I mean there’s plenty of talent out there on this race course. Look how tight we are in the pack. Bonds flying rer back in the game here. What is Slingsby going to be able to conjure up? He looks like he’s going to manage to magic up a right turn, but no, the Swiss shut the door. It’s getting very, very busy at that bottom turn. Bonds flying rer on a charge and that battle between Australia and Switz. Wow, the Swiss have just got themselves right back into the fight with that mistake they made on the downwind. Hugely costly downwind for the Swiss team. That’s so disappointing for them. And Harry Houdini, Tom Slingsby himself on the Bonds flying ruse. Well, he might have got himself out of a bit of a sticky position with that first lap. Moved up to sixth place at the bonds flying r. So, Australia just behind Germany. Germany Deutsche Bank in fifth. Emmer GBR the big winners of yesterday. They sit in fourth place overall. Another arm wrestle upwind here for these leading boats as soon as you’re in the first three. So, we got Canada, New Zealand towards the top right hand corner of our screen, Spain at the bottom here. It’s a real test of your speed. You got clear air. You can make your own decisions. So it all comes down to how well are those individual sailors using the equipment to go fast. They’re going to look to tack on the boundary. New Zealand will tack Simo with them. And it’s a game for Canada at this point, but New Zealand should Oh, there’s the noise on board Canada. They’re off the foils. Mistake in the tack there. Oh, that was a huge error turning the boat through the wind on board Canada. They’re going to lose a lot of distance. And the Canadians quickly get back up on the foils. Hannah Diamond. Is that a situation where the pressure that the Blackfalls apply to them just had them not focusing on that maneuver when they should have been? Well, they shouldn’t really have been because North Canada was sort of in control leading into that boundary. They knew they needed the protection of the the three boat length zone running up to that boundary so they could do that tack. So, they should really have been in control, but not easy conditions today. No, I think it’s quite choppy, Todd. So, you know, yesterday they were kind of driving along a nice smooth motorway or a freeway as you’d call it over in the United States, whereas we’re on a bit of an English country road out there at the moment. a little bit bumpy, little bit choppy, harder to keep the boat balanced nicely. So, those maneuvers are a lot harder to stick. And we see here New Zealand choosing to do one less maneuver. They’re going to just turn right and they’re going to stretch away. This is a great start to the day for the Black Foils. I’m going to go right to the source. We check in down on the water with Lisa Darmman. And Lisa, how choppy is it down there? And is expected to stay like this throughout the whole day. So, it was a lot choppier earlier in the day and it’s slowly flattening out. So, you know, I’m surprised that Canada’s making those errors. It’s it’s nothing that they haven’t seen before. It is meant to get flatter, so they should be able to send it. And it is quite dusty out here, too. So, that might be impacting, you know, the the pressure on the foils as well. I think those people new to Sale GP that are watching for one of the first times. When she says it’s gusty, that means there’s areas of the course where there’s more wind. And of course, if you can find more wind, it’s like just putting more horsepower in your car. You’re going to go a lot faster. So, get the more wind, get the gains. New Zealand looked to be on their way to their second win in five races. Remember, they won on day number one in race number three, but they followed that up in race number four with an unprecedented 11th dead last because France wasn’t racing yesterday. Similar situation today as the USA GP team has got some technical issues. Unable to get to the start box for race number one. So, we’ve got 11 teams out there racing for points, but it is New Zealand in control. And look at this. Somehow Canada has found one of those gusty, they are closing the gap and quick. Yeah, it’s all about can Canada make it to this final turning mark with no more maneuvers. The fact that the Blackfalls have gone that far suggests to me that Canada and Great Britain will have to do two more maneuvers before the final turning mark. So, it could actually open the door for the Spanish here. But let’s see. Yeah, the ball goes down on board Canada. They have to set up to maneuver and actually the bonds flying roofs. Look at them go on board that Australian boat. They were last at gate two and they’re all the way up to gate four. Pure boat speed from the Australians as the Black Foils are going to bring it home. They anticipate the final maneuver and they limit the number of maneuvers and that’s exactly what Pete Berling and the Black Foils have done here in race number five on Super Sunday race number one. The Emirates Woody moment goes the way of the Black Foils and the Kiwis. They strike first on Sunday. Oh, there you go. That’s one for the fans there. The fans are going to be no doubt happy seeing Berling and Co bring it across the line in first place. But Emirates, Great Britain, another top three. Northstar Canada all the way up to second. It’s a good result for them after a tough first day for Charles Scott. And for Emirates GBR, Stevie, this is still a win, a top three position. They already have such a big lead. It’s all about getting final. It’s absolutely awesome. But the win as you heard Chris Draper say there say that’s a really good hustle, guys. Unbelievable hustle. Yesterday, we saw how hard it is to There you go. They’re going to be seriously happy on that boat. Halfway down leg four as they came down wind. Switzerland with 10 points penalty Germany didn’t give Mark room go behind Denmark. 5 seconds will be added to your time. So Germany now goes to seventh and Denmark will get six. Yeah, look at this. Italy missed the mark. They’ve been forced wide. They’re having to do an extra maneuver. All three boats off the foils. These are foiling F50s here. So I’m They’ve all misjudged their rounding. Italy going to be a crash. Oh, Martini needs to not cause a collision and just press the protest button. Now they go. Goodison calls for them to push up. Italy must keep clear here. And the Swiss, well, this could be absolute reprieve for the Swiss here. They’ve made a real mess in the middle of that race, but there’s a parking lot at the final final turn. In two, one now and a Swiss will come through as those three teams in the back just got stuck. Everyone came off the foils. So France, Mubla, Brazil, and Red Bull Italy drop into the water. Penalty Italy go behind uh penalty Italy go behind Brazil. Penalty clear. Perfect. There you go. I mean, got really tight at the bottom. It’s a very hard two maneuvers they had to do into there. And if you got a little wide or there were boats in your way, it was easy to miss things on the course there. So, it’s tough out there, isn’t it, Hannah? It’s not very easy sailing in these boats in these conditions. No, not easy at all. And you know, the French were up there beginning of the race. didn’t quite manage to see what happened to them. It dropped right back to the back of the feet. They’ll be disappointed. So, Kandelip here and the French with that repaired wing. They will finish in 11th place and they will pick up no points on that one. As we now go on the water, Peter Burley and the Black Foils, they get the win on Super Sunday in race number five. Pete, you got to like your chances now. You guys look really good in race three with a win. Race number four, we’ll just call that an anomaly. But what are the conditions like for you guys out there today? Uh, it was looks nice. It’s super similar to um yesterday to be honest. Uh, that was nice. Nice to take the landings out that race four. Put that behind us and get off to a good start today. Yeah, Blair, I don’t know if you can hear me. Blair, the wing trimmer on board the team there. It’s windy out there. How is it with that boat? Are you on the edge? Uh, no. We’re doing we’re doing good. The wind’s moderated a little bit. Beauty day here. uh sail out from Southampton was pretty fruity. Uh so yeah, team did well. Uh time to put a another couple of points on the board. Blair and Pete, we appreciate your time. We look forward to seeing you guys in race number six. Two more fleet races to come before the event final. And will the Black Poles be there? We’re about to find out. Let’s take a look at the event standings. These are provisional right now because there could be some more penalties coming. But you’ve got Emirates GBR out in front. massive lead, eight points over the Black Bulls who sit in second. The Bonds Flying Ruse are in third, even with Switzerland who did a great job of salvaging the points in last part of that race. And it’s Spain, Red Bull Italy, and Rockwell Denmark with Northstar Canada ran out the top eight. Well, if we look back at the highlights of that race and we see the start, it was New Zealand and Canada that found space up the line, that little bit more space, got a fast angle into M one and they just drove away from here, Hannah. Yeah, that’s right. And we knew that the the teams were going to be keen to turn early on Mark 1. Gate 2 seemed to be left favored again, but maybe not quite so much as yesterday. I think you just showed once you do get out in front, it’s such a big big advantage. It turned into a bit of a tussle between Canada and New Zealand, but it was Canada that just made a few mistakes is the simple fact. Yeah, that’s right. And you can’t afford to make mistakes sailing the boat when especially when the black foils are next to you because they’re so solid in these conditions. Yeah. And I think we see left hand side of screen he saw the bonds fly and ruse and another bad maneuver on board Canada here as they spun the boat and they just get a little high on the foils and then they get air around it and down she goes. But it was really really good racing at the front of the fleet but it was an amazing comeback Hannah by the Australians. Yeah, it was and that’s what it’s going to take to reach the final. You can’t afford to have those bad races. So if you start badly you’ve got to be working really hard to catch up make up some of those points. As we take a look at the Emirates fly time, it goes the way of the black foils. The Kiwis look so good with 100% fly time. They also pick up the Emirates winning moment in race number five here on Super Sunday. And we’ll take a look at some of the statistics from from race five. And it’s not surprising that the highest average speed goes to New Zealand and the Black Foils. Flight time 100% for a lot of boats in the fleet for this race. But you can see you if if you’re sailing a longer distance then it’s going to be much harder to get around the course. I think what’s quite impressive is in the pack there. If you look at the the line on the far side maneuvers Australia managed to only do seven maneuvers, find that space and I think with that boat speed they have that’s how they managed to work all the way back through the fleet. off and running on a super Sunday as we’ve got two more fleet races, plus the event final still to come on a picture perfect UK summer day. This is the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix Portsmith, part of the Rolex Sale GP Championship. We’ll have much more after this. Flying carbon machines driven by the world’s best. Yes. Powered by nature. Powered by nature. We are. Hey. Hey. Ciao. How you doing, Seb? Good. You nice to meet you. Good to finally meet you. Pleasure. How’s everything? You okay? Yeah. Yeah. Great. Yeah. SGP is exciting, huh? Yeah. The sport is growing impressively fast. It’s uh it’s pretty cool. I would probably tell Seb to embrace the pressure, enjoy the moment, but don’t. We’re just approaching gate three and France has the lead. The French. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. When you start closing that gap and and you start seeing that you can fight those guys and you can make them feel a bit uncomfortable, then slowly you, you know, you build your confidence and you Yeah, you enjoy it. And in French we say uh like as the more you eat the more hungry you become. Seb Snider has the white of way. Contan needs the break. Oh wow. What’s got into Sebastian Snider? He’s sailing with a new confidence. Pressure creates uh you know good and bad decision making and the important is like how do you deal you know those uh pressure moments and uh losses are part of the journey and some we remember most of them and we got to learn from them cuz we do get another race or another match or another season. It’s it’s an ongoing process. Oh, it’s the end of the last race and team Switzerland is out of the top three. Nice fight, guys. Nice fight. We always came back, but milestone for me to to have met Roger. I mean, it’s uh I mean, anyone in Switzerland dreams to meet him and like I really want to take the most out of it as I can. The time went too fast, but uh I have a good feeling we’ll meet again and and hopefully we give him a ride on the on the F50 and we can build something uh something for the future. [Music] We’re delighted to be in Portsouth, the great waterfront city steeped in maritime history and worldclass attractions. There’s vibrant shopping and year-round events. Truly a destination for everyone. Immerse yourself in the dockyard, home of the Mary Rose, HMS Victory, and more. Then head to South Sea Castle in the D-Day Story Museum. Enjoy panoramic views of Sale GP’s racetrack from South Sea Seafront. We hope you enjoy Portsouth as much as we are. Well, just moments before racing yesterday, Team France suffered a dramatic wing collapse, ruling them out of day one. And it could have been a huge blow in their race to the grand final in Abu Dhabi. But amazing work from the sale GP tech team overnight has put them back in the running today on Super Sunday. That is Francis wing sail collapsing on the top part. I was really surprised honestly cuz it was not that windy. Uh probably 11 knots. when I saw the the wing just uh going down, I was like ah this is not possible. And after that just looking for my teammates, making sure that nobody was injured and uh yeah, it’s uh unfortunate. Kai and the crew have done amazing job to save everything. went back to Portsmouth, took everything off, came by truck during the night and lucky we have, you know, the CGP technology facility just here in Southampton. So they took all the parts, the spare parts and work overnight to put everything together. As soon as we had the failure, we we went into sort of our our crisis mode. Um the first thing was was salvaging what we could and and and getting that boat safely back to the dock. the the combination of SGP Technologies in Southampton. Um, and the tour team here, we’ve worked around the clock and and we’ve put this wing together and as you could see, we’ve managed to roll it out of the hanger and and get it into the crane zone and finish the commissioning testing and get it out on the raceourse. Off we go. We’ll be on the water today. Hannah Diamond, you’re a local. We’ve got to say, and we said it earlier, the absolute rock stars, Captain Jack Taylor and his crew, if this had not been an event in Portsouth, would they be able to get this boat out here this early? Yeah, I mean, the French are really lucky that this event location is right next to say CGP Technologies, but don’t underestimate the amount of work that had to be put in overnight to put that back together, then do all of the commissioning to make sure that everything is safe and ready to put them in a position to be racing today. Yeah, I’m sure the French won’t be feeling very lucky. I think the good thing is CLGP starting to kind of have a few spares in the locker and to be able to to be able to pull out a change like that. That’s really really positive to see and and obviously, you know, it’s brilliant for the French, but for me it could be season defining. I mean that, you know, they’re not going to get any redress. They’re uh they’re gaining points now, but we um we need them getting some good race results today. And we’re fortunate enough to go down on the water and talk to the driver of team France, Contan Deep Pierre. Contan, so good to see you guys. We missed you yesterday. Um how are you feeling today? How confident are you in that wing sail? Uh uh we try to do our best and uh look forward uh see what happen. It seems really easy that if you make one mistake on this race course you can lose a lot of places. Is it really tricky on this choppy solvent water? H it’s tricky and uh have to look for city also try to make our own course and it’s not it’s not easy with this content we appreciate your time we know you love these conditions so we wish you the very best of luck bon and we will talk to you later today so the French now get themselves back in the fight this is going to be a difficult time for them Stevie not only they have that wing replacement but now they find themselves down on points. Remember, they missed the first two events to start the year out. They came back, but these conditions really are in his wheelhouse. Content Delip Pierre. Well, they are, but look at the bottom of our screen. The wind rose there. So, it’s still in a southwesterly wind direction, but 23.3 km an hour. And just looking there, it’s really got the feel that it’s on a bit of a drop here, isn’t it? Breeze is definitely dying. That is what the forecast is, but it could be that all the teams have got a slightly reset. They’ve come out very hyped up for a lot of wind. Uh, and there’s maybe a bit less on the course and perhaps something going on in the British boat right now, Todd. Yeah, it’s never a good sign when you come up on two minutes to go before the race and you’ve got shore crew members still on board looking down in the cockpit. Hannah, don’t want to speculate what they’re doing in there, but there’s a lot of electronics, a lot of hydraulics, a lot of other stuff. You’ve been on these boats before. They’re very technical. Yeah, they’re really technical. And we’ve got the support of the tech team, but also the team shore team who’ll be helping to first diagnose that problem and then work out a fix quick enough to get them back racing as soon as possible. Yeah, we’re hearing it’s a hearing it’s a slight board issue. So, there’s a lot of hydraulic systems that mean you can move the foils forward and backwards, in and out, control the potential horsepower in these boats and and how much and how high they fly out the water. So, crucial that they get that right. And obviously with the British probably feeling like they’re already got one foot in the final. They’ll just want to know the boat boat is working well to be ready for racing. But here we go. 1 minute 24 seconds to go, Todd. And Northstar Canada, they had a good one in race one. They need to go out and win this race and then they might might give themselves a shot at another win in the last race and get to the final. Well, the British are in a good position right now. There they are parked right there. They got to get the short crew off there and hopefully in the next 1 minute they will be up and racing. Everyone else is making their way to the back of that start box. Here we go. This will be race number six. Oh, it looks like we might have a fan on the pitch there. There was a boat got into the security area. We don’t get streakers or anything like that in CGP, but that boat running into the course there. So coming for the crews to all watch out for being kept safety by our marshals there. As we see Northstar Canada are working their way up the line again. Remember Great Britain could be a bit of a sleeping giant in the middle of the screen. It’s really tight in the middle here. The Spanish boat is tight. They’re going to have to take avoidant action. It’s real chaos in there. It’s really really busy. The black foils top of our screen. They’re lining up for that favored inside position. Northstar Canada once again has managed to find some space. And has Emirates Great Britain dropped the rope a doe here? They could be lined up at the top with a lot of space and they could come in really fast at the top of the line. There’s a pile up at the bottom and the Swiss are in that pile up. Disaster for Switzerland. They’re so slow right now. Black foils are early back to the line. I like where Canada is and the Spanish might be able to wrigle out of here. All about timing. Wait for the line to turn white. And it’s going to be Dip Pierre and the French that nail it. And we’re getting word now the race has been abandoned. And we had a rogue boat out in the middle to start. Stevie, you pointed it out. Absolute chaos there. It’s like driving a golf cart onto an F1 track. This is the race committee. Please stop sailing. This is the race committee. Please stop sailing. Oh, we had pirates in Portsouth for quite a while, Todd. But they came in there and they ambushed our start. That is for sure. Thankfully, everyone’s safe. Good decision to stop that. It wasn’t a fair start and it wasn’t going to be safe. So, let’s get that spectator boat off the course ASAP and we’ll get back to action. But potentially a real lucky bake break for Emirates Great Britain now. A bit more time to get things back and fixed and ready to go. Hannah, we don’t see that every day. No, that’s right. And I think they’ll be definitely feeling quite lucky there. It looked like they were sort of ready to take that start, but definitely not lined up in the optimal position. That’s for sure. All right, so they regroup and uh wow, we will keep you updated, but we’ve got a little bit more time to get the teams back into position before the start of race six again. Well, the huge array of talent on board the F-50s is well documented. But as the league continues to grow at a rapid pace, where does the next generation of Sale GP athletes come from? We’re about to tell you. Sale GP is inspiring the next generation through the Inspire Wing foiling program with global partner Mubudla and equipment supplier Armstrong Foils. Here in Portsouth, they receive expert coaching on the latest equipment, showcasing their sport in one of Sale GP’s biggest events ever. It’s really exciting to be at the top of wing falling in the UK, but then also being at the top comes great responsibility in trying to get more people involved. The sail GP Inspire program is so great. It gives so many people the opportunity to try Armstrong kit and get out on the water and have a great time and show the crowd what wink wind is really like. So I really enjoy racing cuz the feeling of just going full throttle down the course is so is so much fun. A program like this definitely needs a lot to make happen. So our partner Mubadler is absolutely amazing because through this we can get more people involved. We can show more kids out here that this is a program that you can get involved in. I think wing foiling has such a bright future because it’s so versatile and it’s so accessible. It’s not too hard difficult to learn. So so many people can give it a go even if they don’t have a background in sailing. I went straight into ring foiling and it was just it’s so much fun. I think it’s quite addictive. So now the teams begin the dance all over again. Race six abandoned on the first go round. We’ll try it one more time here. And the course is clear. One minute to go. Emirates GBR a little late to get back in there. We still don’t have an update on what’s going on with team USA. The Sale GP team really struggling to get their boat to the water. So, it’s now 11 boats out of the water as Dylan Fletcher and his team come screaming into the start box. Yeah, different approach here. They’re going to wind it up with a loop down. This won’t be plan A, I would imagine. But it doesn’t mean it’s going to be a bad thing. They’re going to have an option for space and they should be able to make things happen for them quite well here. It’s going to be a tight turn in and they’re going to have that fast angle into Mark One. They will be high in the box as the injection says there. bottom of the line. As we look down here, it’s towards the right hand side of our screen. We see a penalty on board New Zealand. They’re going to have to get back behind a lot of the boats in the fleet here. Could be a big problem for the black foils New Zealand relative Spain. Okay, so just got to get back behind Spain here. Big mistake by them. Rolex pole position is on Rockall Denmark and they’ve got a nice gap in the middle of the line looking for that line to turn white here. Oh, Brazil early. That’s going to be a penalty. The Swiss have got a great start and Italy have got a great start, but Switzerland are going to need to go very, very fast to get early start penalty. Brazil delayed starters New Zealand and Germany. Oh, the Swiss have done it. Schneider. Wow. Absolutely nailed that. So fast to get over the top. He’s in second and well with a bang. Brazil, your penalties to go behind all boats. Oh, Craig Mitchell dealing out a tough card for the Brazilians. Yeah, if you start ahead, I think you deserve to go back behind everyone to be perfectly honest. That line’s a fixed point in space, and they were ahead of it. Now, the Black Foils are in the right hand side of our screen with work to do. And the French, well, they’re gone, but they choose a right turn. Big call by the French here. They every other race this event, we’ve seen people take a left turn. Italy are going to lead out the left turn and it’s really tight in the middle. Rock Denmark with a little flip-flop jive happening there. Had to avoid Emirates Great Britain. Dylan Fletcher once again has got himself back in the race and Northstar Canada off the foils as well. Good luck to you here. Looked like the Canadian Stevie had to take a base of action there as they put the nose into the water and it’s Red Bull Italy sitting in second place. Content deier the French top of your screen. They’re in first. Yeah, big winners here. New Zealand. The Black Fools a little high on the foils there. Another mistake by the Blacks, but they’re right back in this after being out the back at the start. Lisa, what are you seeing that made the French want to turn right at the bottom there? I think what the French are doing, I mean generally where the left turn is, whilst it’s been favored, there’s been less pressure, but where the French are right now, they’re setting themselves up to come to the favored side of the top of the umpire. And what that means is they’re finding more wind and then they’ll be able to do a left turn at the top gate. Okay, so they’re really planning out their This is the umpire’s penalty Australia relative Canada not giving room at the obstruction. Wow. Chief umpire relative man today. Oh my lord. Australia relative Canada. That’s unbelievable. Here we go. So Canada right away boat. Oh my days. Wa. Look at that. Unbelievable. They did so well to avoid a collision there. And the Australians were on the inside of that. See him top right of our shot there. They were way out of that huge penalty for the Rouge. They’ve got to go all the way back behind Canada. This that’s Oh, that’s massive. Absolutely massive. They’ve got to drop so far back here to take that penalty. But it’s destroyed Canada’s race there as Australia. Oh, it’s almost a leap up in protest. They’re going to need to basically park the boat to wait for the Canadians. Canadians top left of screen still not foiling. But out in front, Todd, the French, well, they are flying away from the fleet here. And this just really opens the door for the Swiss in second in that race to the final versus Australia. Let’s remember, it’s all about making the top three places. And Switzerland, well, they’re going to have a big points buffer over the Aussies after this. How about this? The Bonds Flying Ruse are going to go from fifth to 11th place on this one leg because of that penalty. Meanwhile, Contendelier and the French back today after not being able to race yesterday. He’s sitting first place. The Swiss at second. They’ve dropped back and now it is Red Bull Italy up to third with Rockwell Denmark in fifth just behind Emirates GBR. Yeah, another dominant race here. Emirates GBR really. But the French, it’s nice to see for the French really showing us what they can do out there on the water after that first day. And Red Bull have been sailing really well as well. They’re a couple of thirds yesterday and to be up there in this race again in the breezy conditions really showing their rate of improvement is good, isn’t it? But be interesting when we get a chance. We’ll see hopefully the points going up there. Here we go. Well done. Perfect race to the final. And look at that. New Zealand are in, but they’re behind Switzerland. A big gap on New Zealand to Australia though for the Swiss. That is absolutely huge as we see a massive incident for the Spanish. Got really high off the foils here. I think maybe Oh, look at that. All the fairings have gone. They absolutely dumped the boat down into the water. We’re going to have to go back and see what’s happened. I don’t know if they’ve caught the mark or what’s happened here, but a lot of the fairings have come off that. So, a big nose dive on that Spanish boat and their chances of the final evaporating almost quicker than the Bonds flying ruse right now. And the Australians still have to drop back more. They’ve got to get behind Canada who is so slow. Meanwhile, the race goes on as we approach the DP Worldgate. And once again, Contend Delier opting to go to the right hand side. Yeah, he’s just trying to simplify it down by going right. You can then do one, two maneuvers on the upwind leg. Whereas if you go left, you got to do one, two, three. Every time you maneuver the boat, unless it’s for an obvious gain to get more boat speed, then you just are going a little bit slower. you are losing distance. So yeah, simplifying the course on board the French there, but the Italians, well, Riitita is catching them up pretty quick. Boy, we talked about Tom Slingsby having to pull a rabbit out of his hat. He’s going to have his work cut out for him on race number seven as they are losing massive points. Right now, they are outside of the top three. So they would not be in the event final if it was after this race. But he’s got one more opportunity to pick up some valuable points. Meanwhile, it is France out in front. How about Red Bull Italy and Rogerita, the two-time Olympic gold medalist. He is doing a fantastic job. Hannah, you talked about it. They are really showing some good stuff, not only yesterday, but today. Yeah. I mean, we’ve seen hints of it over the last couple of events, haven’t we? But they yet to put together a full event. You can see from this shot that there’s some different colors of the water. Those darker patches mean a lot more wind. They seem to be becoming a bit more pronounced. And that’s maybe making the boats a little bit harder to sail, which is why we’re seeing these crashes off the foils. And the teams that can stay calm, keep their boat handling simple are going to be able to benefit from that. Well, still no sign of the Spanish coming down when we obviously saw them at the top end of the course there. And hopefully we’ll get a chance to go back. Here we go. We have a little replay here on board Spain and let’s watch here. They get the boat really low in the water and they’re going to turn away from the wind right now. And then look at that. They really put the bow down so so hard and they just come to an absolute stop. They’re really struggling here high in the water and then look at that. Lot of air around the foils and they come down with a serious bump. That’s massive there for the Spanish. They just park. Boat fills up with water and potentially with the load of that crash, they’ve damaged the boat. There they are. Top right hand side of screen. And I can only assume they’ve maybe damaged more than just the fairings. As we come back now, we see the Swiss in third, but they’ve opened the door for the Rock Wall, Denmark, and New Zealand. The Swiss really need all the points they can get in their battle with the Bonds Flying Ruse to get to the final. And Australia already working their way back up the leaderboard. They are up to seventh place right now as Rockwell, Denmark and Switzerland will swap positions. The Danes now going to third with the Swiss in fourth. So look at this ever changing situation with the race to the final. Now Australia’s on 36 points. That puts them five points behind the Swiss. Swiss are going to lose a couple of places here, Todd. I think they they’ve got themselves a little bit out of phase with the windshift and they’ve now got to watch out. Rockwell, Denmark, and Switzerland. Tight cross. Switzerland need to be sure they’re ahead. Oh Schneider, good call. And I tell you what, having watched that Racing on the Edge episode, if the Swiss do make the final, I think everyone’s going to want a business meeting with Roger Federer, leg six of seven. So, it’s down to the bottom of the course and a lefthand turn to the finish line with just one more race to go until the field is cut to only the top three teams. Now, the Swiss have got a really nice long run on this starboard leg as they go across. They have split from their nearest competition. So they’ve just got to be watching that Rockwell, Denmark and New Zealand don’t make a big gain on that side. But at the moment they’re looking okay. Yeah, I think they’ve set themselves up well again. They’ve almost sort of sailed the the simpler pattern maneuver wise here. Probably two more maneuvers for France and for Italy. One more maneuver for Switzerland. I don’t see the Swiss overtaking those first two boats, but they look well set for a third place here. Todd, a team we have not talked about though is Emirates GBR. They have such a massive lead, you guys, from day number one that they really can just coast in with not much of a performance in the last race of the day. Keep it simple, keep it clean, keep it safe. Yeah, they can top the sick. They’ve not been out the top three all weekend. We saw them with the tech team on board. I’m just wondering what’s going on there. I mean, hopefully we can we can get on board and find out. You just don’t want gear failure to be a thing. Of course, I say that watching the French come around in first and there’s no bigger gear failure than that. But looks like they’re going to get to bring it home in front of the fans. Don’t do. So, race number six, the second race on Super Sunday. We missed them yesterday, but they reintroduced themselves to the fans here. And the Emirates winning moment goes the way of team France. [Applause] go to the Red Bull Italy squad. Rogerita, as we mentioned, a two-time Olympic gold medals, fourtime Nacra world champion. The Italians take second and third place. Another surprising team having a great run here in Portsouth is Sebastian Snider and the Swiss, they will take third. Now, the battle on for fourth, fifth, and sixth. Yeah. And in that race to the final, I think, you know, New Zealand, a solid one. They were last off the start. They fought back for a fifth. Decent result there, Great Britain are in it as well. This could be a big race, but Australia in eighth need all the points they can get. I don’t think they’re going to gain any more here. So, expect Slingsby to come out swinging in the start of the next race. Emmer GBR will grab sixth place and the points with that. So, their lead should increase. It’ll be MBudler Brazil with one of their better showings here. They’ll finish in seventh just ahead of the Bonds Flying Ruse. But you got to think what could have been Stevie for the Bonds Flying Ruse had they not got that penalty versus Canada. Yeah. Well, hopefully we’ll get to see that gate two again at some stage from overhead cuz there was an awful lot going on and and the umpires would have been very very busy in there. The Australians appeared to be quite a long way from an incident. But sometimes if you’re even if you’re a bit away from it, you still kind of have caused it and they were on the inside of a turn and if they weren’t entitled to be there, which I can only assume they weren’t given that the the Emirates umpiring team have given them the penalty, then you know that’s how that penaltyy’s been passed on down the line. So huge result for the Australians in that and yeah lost an awful lot of points in no time at all. Germany Deutscheake will finish in ninth place and they will pick up their points with Canada. Spain and the USA obviously unable to race here because of technical issues. They will not get any points as will Spain. Looks like Stevie as you pointed out they could have done some damage to the boat. We’ll hopefully get a report from them but Canada will pick up that last point. They have been up and down all over the course these last two days and Canada still trying to figure out how this whole area in the Solent works. Do you know I think probably there’ll be a few people fairly shaken up there. They might be needing to get into the Bonds flying ruse and get some change of clothing after that one cuz that was just huge at the bottom there. Very very tight moment for the Canadians. Did well to avoid a crash but never quite resettled. turning up in two. So J Scott brings the Canadians across the line to make it official. And there you see the shore team coming on board with Spain, the defending champions as we take a look at the standings with one fleet race to go. It looks like this. Emirates GBR, they have clinched a spot in the event final on 49 points. Now these are provisional results. There could be some more penalties coming in the next few minutes. New Zealand sits in second. Switzerland right now looks good in third. And there’s the battle. Can the Bonds flying ruse hold off? Switzerland or Red Bull Italy also make a push. That’s where we’ll keep our focus on race number seven. Emirates fly time go the way of the French. No surprise there. 100% for content delir. Remember they did not race yesterday because the broken portion of the top part of their wing yesterday before racing began. So, we’ve reached the pressure point of this Great Britain Sale Grand Prix as we get ready for race number seven, the seventh and final fleet race after this. [Music] Machines are GP. In Sale GP season 5, Brazilian sailor Matini Gra decides that she wants to drive for the new Brazilian team. Well, if we can get a, you know, a chance in in podium, that should be incredible. Unlike any other sport in the world, Martini is not racing in a women’s. She is now lining up against some of the best male sailors in the world. This would be like a woman taking the field for Real Madrid men’s team or playing a Grand Slam tournament in the men’s division. It would be like a woman lining up on the Formula 1 grid. Well, not even that because Formula 1, the cars are different. In Sale GP, the boats are all the same. So, Sale GP really becomes a testing ground to see if women can really compete against men when they’re given the same tools. Big crash for Brazil in the second Grand Prix of the season in Auckland. Once more, the Brazilians finish at the back of the pack. Like I was I literally hoped for my dear life, you know. Yeah. And then it just spun. We’re in New York, but it feels like we’re in Rio. The crowd is getting behind the Brazil team. Everybody’s cheering Martine on and they are sailing an awesome race. They’re picking the good wind shifts and their lead just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Martine Gra and company they make the turn and now history will be made on the Hudson and the Emirates Woody moment for the first time goes the way of the Brazilians and Brazil win race number four. We love to cheer for Brazil and that’s why we maybe had so much vibrations and happiness. The joy was to see Martin bleeding. I think the smile on everybody’s faces out of our first win describes it all. [Applause] Beautiful day here in Portsouth for day two of the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix. Alongside Stevie Morrison, Hannah Diamond, and Lisa Darmman, I am Todd Harris. Glad to have you with us on a beautiful day to be sailing out on the So, [Music] so it’s the final fleet race of the day under 90 seconds to go and then it is on to the event final. Only the top three teams. The conditions are strong. Stevie, this is going to be very exciting, but we’re seeing fewer teams out there and another tech issue on board Emirates GBR. Yeah, this is not good news here. That’s the Spanish moment there, T Dog. Yeah, similar color scheme. So that looks like they’re going to be missing this race. That’s a nightmare. They obviously came down from a big crash and did more damage than they should. I think the battle that we would maybe want to watch and we’ll see when we come back to this. Obviously such a shame to see the Spanish out of it. Maybe there’s talk of a delay. I’ve seen on the screen here. Yeah, look, the next start’s gone back 2 minutes 50. I mean, it’s going to need going to need Bob the Builder to get in there and fix that boat that quickly if they can. And we’re going to go back and see this incident on board Spain. They’re turning here. Going to do a right turn. There’s a lot of acceleration. You’ve got to really change the amount of lift on the foil there. And they take an Oh, wow. He just gets way out of shape with the amount of lift on that inside board. Joel Rodriguez, flight controller, normally the main B, but look at the damage there on all those fairings. So, that was the situation for Spain in the last race. They put the nose down at a high speed. Hannah Diamond, that’s got to be like driving what 60 80 mph and then pulling on the E bra. Yeah, it doesn’t feel nice on board. definitely for the people on board, but also you can see just how much damage there is under the boat. Those fairings are really important, not only for kind of keeping the spray off, but they also form a kind of front part of that wing. So without that, it’s really, really difficult. We don’t know if there’s anything else going on as well. And this is what I was talking about, Stevie. Yeah, bottom left hand corner of our screen there. Not a great look at all for the British. Once again, they’ve got the mechanics on board and they’re working in that same lefthand side port hull of the boat. There we can see Nick Hutton. He’ll no doubt be offering a couple of opinions. very experienced British sailor on board the boat there and they’ve obviously still working around that board system. I don’t know how the points are going to look for them. They will need to race if they want to make the final here. We’ll get back and see those ports soon enough surely uh to see what that race to the final looks like. But I think the good news is Stevie I think that Emmeris GBR is in. They have already punched enough points and that they cannot be knocked out because it would have to be Australia to pick up 10 points. They can’t overtake them. There you go. Well, that answer your question. And if I’m on Great Britain, I’m taking time to fix my boat. Then I want to watch here. Switzerland and Australia, that’s the real battle for this final. Of course, Italy could pull something out of a hat. Does Slingsby go aggressive and try and attack the Swiss before the pre-ar? I’d keep my eye on that. One minute to go until the final fleet race here at the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix. Portsmith, a lot of points on the line. So, Emirates GBR is in despite the fact that they have issues. The work has been done on Spain. They are back up and sailing still in the fight. The USA, they are up and sailing. So, this would be very interesting. You’ve got the best team so far over the last two days. They look like they might be sitting this one out. Yeah, that’s maybe not such an issue if they are already in that final. We see the bombs flying r well positioned. Switzerland are putting himself right in the fight there. Now, we see the favored place on the start is going to be straight out the middle. Still a very, very short run to mark one and you want to be on the inside of that if you can. Northstar Canada well positioned. Spain. He’s going to have to think up something pretty late here and it’s all going to be on your timing into the line. Rock Ball Denmark are trying to find a gap. There could be a gap for the New Zealand or the French here at the bottom of the line. Looking for that line to turn white. The boats are going to wind up here. We come into the start now. Australia are too close. Berling spins it down, but it’s going to be Dylierre perfect again out the bottom of the line. The French are going to take some beating from here. And Seb Schneider on board the Swiss. Wow. The Swiss fans are going to go wild because they’re going to be in a good place at Mark One once again. Watching a little mark number one and it is France that roll around. They push the Swiss to the outside. Northstar Canada also in the fight. Now we have to wait for two weeks. Well, we know the we know the British are in the final. We know the New Zealand team and the Swiss were the next two and they are second as third as it sits. So that would be our final. Leon’s flying r Slingby. He’s first to maneuver away. And this is your moment, Tom. That Australian boat has got to overtake a lot of boats and hope for mistakes for the Kiwis or the Swiss if they have any hope of making the final. You can see and the wind must have shifted around to the left there because the boats allowed to go. They go much further past Mark one. And you can see a lot more boats wanting to turn right at gate two. The Swiss have done it. Look at that Hannah. Swiss have dived inside the French. They’ve obviously read the wind really well on board that New Zealand classic Burling. Try and take a mark where you’re the first boat out of it. Try and sail in clear air. He’s not in this parking lot that’s on the right turn as we see Australia trailer park around the outside. Little bit of good news. Emirates GBR the team that’s in first place right now that doesn’t really need any points. They are back in the race. They will sit in 12th. And I’m wondering, Stevie, if they’re just going to nurse this thing around, make sure all the tech issues are worked out before the event final. Yeah, they could be. But look, middle of our screen, the Swiss are off the foils. I don’t know what they’ve done there. They’ve obviously felt like they needed to get out and they’ve gone from first to fourth in the brink of an eye. Bad maneuver, I think. All the winds gone really light. Lisa, what’s happening out there on the track? Yeah, the Swiss were under pressure around that rounding and then went for the maneuver and just fell off the foils. It is really patchy out here. So, the lulls, so the light patches are bigger and the wind is kind of coming up and down. Days changing a little bit. So, certainly tough out here. Quite an open course. It looks like Australia’s had a terrible maneuver as well out on the other side. Yeah, I don’t feel like I’ve seen as many mistakes as I’m seeing out there today. I mean, it is a bit choppy. You know, it’s quite a turbulent water here in the Solen, but there seems to be an awful lot of mistakes happening. Well, the French, I mean, look at this. This could be two wins in a row for the French team. They’re making it look pretty easy. Yeah, they are. And I think sort of fortunately for the Swiss, it looks like the Australians coming across from the top of the screen had a bad maneuver as well. But you can’t afford to maneuver if you’re down speed. You’ve got to get away from those marks, build the speed before you choose to do mule maneuver. Otherwise, you risk falling off the foils and having to rebuild. And you can see how long it takes to get back up to fleet speed. Those are all channel markers in the middle. Of course, you’ve also got Spit Bagg in the center of the course, which makes it even more tricky despite the gusty wind and the current. So, the world’s best sailors are trying to figure out this puzzle right now as we go on board the Bonds flying ruse. There is Tom Slingsby hand on the wheel trying to work some more magic yet again. They currently sit in fifth place, Stevie. By my math, they’re going to have to pick up at least three or four more spots and hope the Swiss drop back. Yeah, they need a five-point swing on the Swiss, don’t they? So, in that race to the final, it’s going to be really, really down to the Swiss making a mistake for the Australians to have any hope of getting there. The Aussies would have hoped to be out in front and look for a win here. Slightly high on the foil there through that maneuver, but good save. straight into a good stable boat there. Tash Bryant steers the boat as Slingsby comes across and they’re up and running. They’ve got the right of way over the other boats in the fleet here, but he’s not going to like to see that at the moment. He’s still behind the Swiss, but he’s back in the game. Right of way with Australia. He’s coming in fast. The Bonds flying rer on a charge. Yeah, I just need to be fast. Tom Slingsby looking for speed there. Here we go. This will be tight. Oh, Seb, that’s Whoa, that’s a Thank goodness. Oh, I’m not sure how I feel about that. We had the rights to go on the inside. That was so so tight. Be interesting to hear if anything happens from that incident there. He’s got space now. It’s going to work out for them long term. But that was beyond brave by the Swiss there. They went outside. They just Yeah, they need to really keep calm on board there. It’s pretty easy to feel the heart rate go up, feel the tempo go up. Oh, I think the Germans have caught the mark there. Oh no, Germans off the floor. I think maybe they have they caught something there. Got very close to the mark. They’ve spun the boat. They stop in and the foil’s come up. I think maybe they’ve caught that mark on their foil or something. A massive incident there again on the German boat. No penalty for the Swiss I’m hearing from the umpires. So Snider threaded the needle as surgeonike going through there as the Kiwis have overtaken the French. The Black Foils are on a charge and are they gaining the momentum at the exact right time in terms of setting themselves up on top form for the event final? A straight shot in for the Black Foils as Peter Berling and company move right on in. And look at this. They are on even points now with Emirates GBR. Switzerland would still be in that final and Australia. Stevie Hannah, they are running out of time. Yeah, that’s right. I really like that right turn at the top there because it means you can do one less maneuver. So, if the Swiss can make it down to this right turn, they’ll have cut out almost two maneuvers, whereas the Australians are going to have to work hard to get to this mark. Are going to get real slow here. They’re going to get real slow. They’re going to have to do a flip-flop junchy to come back the other way, I’d say, here. They look like they’re going to. So, they’re going to get end up behind the Aussies here. Oh no, Australia splits. Slings going for it. He rolls the dice here. This is a big moment in the race, but he still needs the Swiss to lose places. So, I guess in that sense, it was a sensible call by the Swiss. minimize maneuvers, lose a couple of places, but just look at the points on the left there. Australia need at least a four-point swing. If it’s tied on points, it’s the winner. Whoever does best in the last race that is going to get out on top. So, Australia just need a four-point swing. And you know, the Australians have been in this position so many times before. The last race before the final, the Swiss for them, this is a different position defending their spot in the final in the last race. The Bonds Flying Rotime Champions and Sale GP recently purchased by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Looking for a big performance here in the UK. They currently sit in fourth. They’re on the outside looking into Steviey’s Point. They need a four-point swing with the Swiss and right now they are three and four. Emirates GBR New Zealand CV. They look safe. They look to be in the final, but the battle is on for that third boat that’s going to make it into the event finals. Yeah. And if you’re ever trying to cover or watch out for one boat in particular, you want to put yourself in roughly the same patch of water as them. And that’s what the Swiss have done. Really mature decision. They took the left turn, maneuvered early, and I expect them to maneuver fairly soon to stay roughly close to the Australians cuz they can even afford to be behind Australia, but just pretty close to them as we see the New Zealand team. Well, they’re down the road here. Here go the Swiss. They set up to maneuver trying to stay roughly parallel with the Australians. on the left. I think they’re setting themselves up for a right hand turn at this top gate. We’ll have to see if the Germans did touch that mark with the end of their T foil. Is it still in the same spot or has it been dragged slightly out of position? I think they hit it hit the anchor line on board that a on that board that German boat. There was a message from the race marshals. So I think that’s a big error by the Germans. A real shame for the end of the regata here for them. And Denmark as well back in 11th. There’s a few teams that are really struggling here when perhaps they’re starting to be under a lot of pressure on the whole overall championship situation. So, what will the Swiss do? They’re currently in fourth place as they approach this gate where you see contender at the last moment making an option and a turn to his right. Meanwhile, the Black Fil, they have all but checked out and here we go. It is Northstar Canada in third, the Swiss in fourth, and here come the Bonds Flying Ruse in fifth. Yeah, Bons Flying Ruse have the right of way here. Switzerland needs to avoid any incident with the Australians. They could turn and they’ve got to be confident of crossing ahead. Slingsby will hunt him. Slingsby needs to park him up. Oh, that’s a big cross there. That was a punchy call. That’ll be a question. No doubt. Find out if they’re clear ahead, whether or not a penalty goes on that Swiss boat. I think they were clear, but they’re putting a lot more risk in than perhaps they need to. So now the bonds flying ruse try to pick up more distance, more speed. Meanwhile, Peter Burling and the Black Foils out in front by more than 100 meters. Contend Delir and the French who got the whole shot at mark number one. They currently sit in second place. They’re in the event standings right now and it looks like it’s going to be Emirates GBR New Zealand in safely and the Swiss have just held off the Aussies. Yeah, I just heard from Chief Umpa there was no penalty there. Australians hunting the Swiss. So great news for the Swiss here. They just need to nail one more good maneuver and they’re going to find their way to a final. It would be a massive result for the Swiss. Huge moment for them as a team to get themselves into a final, but another huge moment. Last time we were in the UK, it was the Black Foils that came away with the win. Well, Black Foils look like they’re in pretty good form right now. This is the race. Switzerland, Australia. Australia must keep clear. The Swiss are going to be nicely ahead here. We see a good cross for them. Great moment for the Swiss. They just need to stick this one more maneuver at the bottom. The Australians will have one last chance to dive inside, but they need more than just to overtake the Swiss. I don’t see it happening for the Bonds Flying Ruse from here. And as we turn our attention back to the finish line, the Emirates winning moment once again goes the way of the Kiwis. Peter Berlin and his squad get the win in race number seven. Kandela Pierre backs up their win in race number six with a second in race number two. So just like that they pick up 19 points in just two races sailed. Northstar Canada will come in third on the final race nice and sailing at 80 and Switzerland Stevie by my calculations. It looks like they are going to do just enough to get in. They will finish in fourth in race number seven. The Bonds flying ruse pushed them. Tom Slingsby did everything he could possibly do, but they’re going to come up short. And that position by the Swiss will put them into the event final. Their very first event final in Sale GP. Yeah, what a result. Hats off to that Swiss team. First ever final. Look at the relief and the excitement on that. Big big moment for them. Bonds flying rouge. That’s two events in a row that little mistakes have cost places in the final. Slingsby will be livid about that. The only relief they’ll take out of this is the fact the Spanish are going to miss the finals as well. So big big one in the overall standings. The big winners here could be the Kiwis as we go towards that final because they’ll be looking to maybe jump to the top of the leaderboard if they can win this event. Butler Brazil will take sixth. Seventh place goes to the home team. Emirates GBR, but they are safely into the final. And to your point, Stevie, here comes Spain. They had that problem race number six. Had some damage to the fairing. They will finish in eighth place and that’ll have impact on the overall season points after the event final. We’ll tabulate those. Good weekend for Red Bull Italy and Roger Tita. That squad, Stevie, for me, for my money, did some great improvement over the last two races. No, I agree. I think they’ve sailed really, really well. They’ll be happy. I think whatever any team you want as a new team, you want to build as consistency. You don’t really want to go and win a race and then come last in the next race and just say, “Oh, yeah, we won a race.” It’s all about trying to be consistent. Tight moment here. Real battle in the back. Austral of way had to spin it. Oh, but these two boats, they’ve just had a shocking clear. Okay, this is for one point. This is a battle for one point. And it was it was a late change of course by the Danish. So it was not a foul by the US team there. The Danish spun the boat towards them giving the United States no opportunity to keep clear. So it’s all clear for the US team coming across the line here. But it’s been a bad day for that US team. US GP will pick up a point. Remember they missed the first two races on Super Sunday because of technical issues. Good to see them finishing getting some points on the board as Rockwell Denmark’s got to be very frustrated with their weekend. And that last maneuver really sums up the weekend here in Great Britain for them. So, the fleet races are complete here in Portsouth. And now with seven fleet races complete, we take a look at the standings. And it is official. Emirates GBR, they finish in first place on 53 points. New Zealand finishes in second with 52. And Switzerland into their very first event final on 48 points, just six points clear of the Bonds Flying Ruse and Tom Slingsby. [Music] And we go on board the Bonds Flying Ruse and their driver, Tom Slingsby. Tom, it was a rough day out for the for you guys today. Uh what do you attribute it to and what do you guys have to do to get better at the next event coming up in just a few weeks time in Germany? Uh yeah, it was tough day. Uh frustrating day actually. It just felt like couldn’t get clear and and do what we want to do. Uh yeah, we just got to sail better and figure out some of these. Tom, we appreciate your time. You guys be safe. Get back to shore and we will see you in Susets. Well, here we go. Let’s look back at that race as we come back with some highlights here. And the start, of course, was pretty crucial here. The French just threaded the needle through, but it was France and New Zealand and the Swiss that just managed to go so so fast into Mark One. And then we just saw again, if you’re good at mark one, doesn’t have to make the race a bit easier for you. Yeah. And you can see this was a slightly different race to some of the others. So, who switched on to that quickly? The Swiss took the right mark and really really made the most of that going around the outside for a huge gain. But then they fell off the coils, didn’t they? And you just see mistakes really really cost you out here. I think that could be the thing in the final. There’s not easy sailing conditions. It won’t be as tight as this. This was so brave by the Swiss. Might need a little bit of that bravery, but mistakes are going to really hurt you when we get to the final. I think looking at the final, Todd, New Zealand looked really, really quick. Let’s take a look at the Emirates fly time. Of course, Peter Berling and the Black Foils 100% as they put on a master class in the final race. What a way to have a last day. You look at races 5, six, and seven and the Kiwis go 1, five, and one. What a beautiful day here on the Solen in the south part of the UK as the fans get ready for the big moment. It will be the event final of the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix. Portsmith, part of the Rolex Sale GP Championship. And the fans, no one has left their seat. And these are the three teams that will compete in the event final here at the Rolex Sale GP Championship. Portsouth, it will be Emirates GBR, the home team, the Black Foils of New Zealand, and the Swiss, their first time making an appearance in a sale GP final. And what can you say about your former team, Hannah Diamond, Emirates GBR? They look so strong from race number one all the way in. They’ve looked good all week long. Yeah, I mean, they’ve looked really good all weekend, but they’re going to be a little bit worried about those bugs that they’ve had in the few races, but we’ll have to see what happens. Well, just a short time ago, Lisa Darmman and caught up with Dylan Fletcher on board Emirates GBR. Dylan, congratulations making the final. It’s it’s a bit of a difficult day out here. Yeah, we’ve had um some tech issues. So, tech team done fantastic job of getting the boat fixed up and really stoked to be in the final. We’re going to give it everything. This crowd once again is amazing. Obviously, you had to sit out of that one, but you were still practicing for that final. Yeah, I know the tech team did a great job. We were started about a minute late, but just uh stoked the boats fixed and to be in the final in front of this amazing crowd behind us. And what is going to be the key? Obviously, three boats is a lot different. It still looks like it’s quite busy on the racetrack. Yeah, the breeze is getting a bit patchier, a bit more up and down. So, there’s plenty of shifts to play with and it’s all going to be about getting off that start line first. Awesome. We’ll give the crowd something to cheer for. Thanks so much. Thank you. So, that was a short time ago. Lisa Darmman catching up with Dylan Fletcher and we’ve already got the three teams that will compete in the event final near the start box. We are less than oh gosh coming up on 90 seconds to go until this shortened race Stevie and we’re hearing it’s going to be a shorter race than we’ve seen in the fleet races. Yeah, just one race, one lap of this race. So, you know that starts is going to be absolutely crucial. But Dylan did mention it is puffy and gusty out there. So, there’s the opportunity to find more wind and and make those overtakes. And of course, Hannah Mill’s strategist, she’s got some work to do there if she wants to make that happen. But I think really it’s going to be all about Dylan’s timing at the start and then can Hannah find some space on the racetrack. at 102. Hey, [Music] there’s the lineup for the black foils. Peter Burling, Leo Takahashi, of course, Blair Touon on there. Lip Kai, Luc and Claire, and Marcus Hansen, the big grinders up front. They’re going to have to be working hard into this pre-start. There’s a lot more space on the course, so a lot more opportunity to make sure that boat’s going at top speed all the time. First timers in the final. How about this lineup, Stevie? It’s big lineup and they’ve got a very very strong grinding setup there. Matt Got, Stu Dodson, absolute powerhouses. So that’s going to be good news for Arno Sarafagus on the wing there. Going to be able to get that Swiss boat going fast. And right now Rolex Predictor sits on the Swiss. We heard that the Kiwis were late, but they’re going to dive inside. We’re hearing that it will be two laps the racecourse now. So there is going to be plenty to play here. Emmit Great Britain are early back. They’re going to struggle. They’ve got good control, but they’re going to struggle to be fast in the gun. I quite like where the Kiwis are at the moment if they’re not going to be late on United. The Great Britain team here turn the boat towards the line. Swiss are coming in fast. New Zealand going to be slow. It’s all about timing now. How’s your timing, Seb Snider at the bottom of the line. Line goes wide and he’s absolutely nailed that on board the Swiss boat. The Kiwis were late and the British team are going to struggle to get over the top from here. Got to keep clear of the Swiss team, but they are not over overlapped. Will Fletcher be brave and spin the boat down in front of the Swiss? And at mark number one in the event final, Dylan Fletcher plays it smart, gives room to the Swiss and Seb Schneider. Peter Berling’s not out of this just yet, but this is a shortened race, so we’ll see how that all plays out. But it is the Swiss that have the controlling position right now as they line themselves up to gate two. Well, they’ve come up with a great move on board the Swiss boat. Berling first to move away here from the fleet. He’s going to have to go right, but he’s got space. Switzerland and Emirates great. Britain are slow, and all the boats are talking about wanting a right turn. I reckon the Swiss and the British could get real slow here before the mark. Could be an opportunity for the Kiwis to come in fast around the outside. Yeah, that’s right. It looks like the Swiss, are they working down to a drive to take that right turn? They are, but they’re making a meal of it. They’ve gone way wide. The Black Foils are going to be right back in this here. They were very slow for that maneuver on Switzerland there. Great Britain split the course. And now, where do you see more wind on this race course, Lisa? We’ve got a split and the Black Foralls are back in it. I actually do like where Emis Great Britain are going. I think the day has changed before and you know, it is really tricky out here. Each little patch of the raceourse is quite different. So, I think it’s more about sailing the wind that you’re in at in that moment. It’s going to be hard to cover. Yeah. And it’s going to be about finding the space on the course on the lift attacks. The tact taking you closest to the mark. No worries. The black foil seem to have made good advantage of that poor rounding by the Swiss to get inside and lead that tack back across the middle of the course where they’ll meet Emirates GBR. This one’s crucial this cross here. To we heard Hannah Mills say big lefty. That should favor the New Zealand team. That should mean New Zealand and Switzerland are sailing more straight up the course. And at the moment you can see Emirates, Great Britain sailing nearly parallel to our ladder lines. And that’s why that lead is hemorrhaging right now. Wind has shifted in the favor of the Black Foils. Swiss are still in it. Fletcher is going to have to find some magic if he’s going to get himself back in this race. The wind speed across the course, well, there’s more wind on board New Zealand and Switzerland as well. So, not only are they sailing less distance, they’re also doing it at higher boat speed. Seven legs in all on this event final. And you can count out the black foils at your own peril. Just when you think Pistol Pete might be out of it, Stevie, he comes up with this, rolls the dice, and absolutely nails it. So now you got the Black Foils out in front. Switzerland has dropped back to second, and Emirates GBR goes from first to third. Sort of become the Hunter now. It’s so shifty. That could not be the worst thing in the world for the British, but that might be me being an optimist as the Blackfalls haven’t made many mistakes today. And look at the speed on the Blackfalls there. Nearly 5 km an hour quicker on board that boat. They’re going to set up for a maneuver. They will have the right of way. And if they lead out of this next gate, then it’s going to take Oh, they’ve made a mistake there. They nearly lost the rudders. Oh, they got very wobbly through there. Not a great maneuver. That’s opened the door for the Swiss to turn inside. Can the Swiss hang on? They’re going to have a tough time working up to that left turn. But if there’s any right hand rotation in that win, and they might be able to make it. Hey, we’re in this. We’ve got one and in. Yeah, they’re going to go right turn here at the top here, the British, but so are the Kiwis. That’s been the favored move all day. We got another split. Lisa, we’re going to ask you to make the call again. Which way do you like out of this top mark as New Zealand lead at gate three? Nice. Well, I do like the where New Zealand’s going right now, but I think longterm Switzerland’s going to be in a stronger position. And remember, the Swiss looking for their very first win in an event final. They get to the event final, they check that box, now they’re looking for the big prize. Will they walk away with the big trophy at the end of the day? Right now, they’ve got to contend with Peter Berling and Emirates GBR and Dylan Fletcher. This race is far from over. Like four of seven. Good maneuver there. We see as Emirates Great Britain. Well, they are back in it. Hannah Mills is right. They’re very much in the race. It looks like a lead change at the moment, but it’s only a paper lead change. We’ll see when they come back together. I like the wind shift that the New Zealand crew have. They’re sailing nearly straight down the course, making great progress towards the next gate. I think the black foils have boosted out here. And they will have right of way when they come back together, but it’s whether they can make it down to that bottom gate without any more maneuvers. Pretty good for it at the moment, doesn’t it, Hannah? I like where they’re getting. And Berling’s calling for the deep mode. So, he’s saying, “Let’s not go as fast. Let’s try and just make sure we make it to this right turn at the bottom.” That was where they made the big gain with the right turn. They also made the big gain by having a bit of space. There was a fight between Switzerland and Emirates Great Britain that brought them back into the race. What’s going to happen at the bottom here? Does Swiss try and cement second or they roll the dice and hope to take a win by splitting away from the Kiwis? It looks like Schneider’s hunting the win. Feels like a risk though, doesn’t it? That mark looks like they’ve had a lot a lot of extra distance and we saw how much Ever GBR lost from going this way last time. Yeah, they did. It’ll be interesting to hear what windshift we get here. That’s for sure. That’s a good angle, right? Not not slight righty on the shift. So the Swiss need to really look to take a maneuver fairly soon to be progressing up the ladder line a bit more here. It’s a battle between Emirates, Great Britain, and New Zealand on that side of the course. Going to be hard for Emirates New Zealand to overtake going the same way, but never rule out Dylan Fletcher and crew. They’ve been going so fast all weekend. This is very close. Remember this is lake five of seven. So it’s to the top of the course. They’ll come back down. Then it’ll be a lefthand turn right in front of the Adrenaline Lounge. and the packed crowd that have turned out to see this event final here at the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix in Portsouth. Gain to New Zealand. Gain to New Zealand over Switzerland there. And a big one. And Emirates Great Britain are pretty much on their line. So I’d anticipate, as we can see, slightly slower speed on board New Zealand, but they’re just trying to claw their way up to the line of Emirates Great Britain. Put themselves directly in front of the British and disturb the wind on Emirates Great Britain. There you see the Rolex chasing time. It is Emirates GBR trying to track down the Black Foils and Pete Burling. The Kiwis have an 8second lead right now, but we’ve seen that evaporate so quickly on these courses. This is going to come down to just a few maneuvers. Hannah Diamond, can you stick it when you most need it? Yeah, and you can just see from the body language on the board, the black foils there so calm all the time, especially when they’re in front. I think it’s they’re going to be hard to catch. Yeah, effectively, if the Kiwis make no maneuvering mistakes right now, easier said than done, then it’s their race. They’ve got it in the bag, but of course mistakes can happen quite easily out here on the course and they’ve got an interesting decision to make. It looks to me like the Kiwis is setting up for a right turn at the top again here. So an extra maneuver coming potentially and they’ve got to be careful of the British. British have right of way. Burning needs to stick this. Here we go. Big moment. Comfy ahead for me there. Clear cross. That was well judged. But my lord, that was brave. Swiss are off the foils, Todd. They’ve made a they’ve got a problem. So, this is a straight one-on-one match race here, but massive gain on the right turn. A lot less distance sailed for the Black Foils here. We’re hearing the Swiss are out. So, it’s a straight fight. Can Emirates Great Britain give the home fans something to cheer? Problems on board the Swiss boat. So, they are done. They will finish in third overall. But the battle is on now. Who will take home the top prize here in Portsouth? It is the Kiwis on the left side of your screen. Emirates GBR on the right. There are the numbers. Yes, more wind on board the New Zealand boat and that’s pretty good news for the black foil. E Hannah, it is. But they you can see that trail in the water they’ve just left. They’ve just had a big nose dive. Managed to recover it. Okay, but I think there’s probably it’s going to be they’re going to be hard to catch, but it’s definitely not over till it’s over. So, it’s going to come down to the final maneuver. When they get to the bottom of the course, it’ll be a lefth hand turn and then a short sprint to the finish line. For Emirates GBR, this would be their first win since Sydney going back to event number three. But for the Kiwis, this will be their first win since the first event of season 5. That was in Dubai way back when. This is two of the Titans, isn’t it? So, we don’t really expect many mistakes here. It still is a bunch of bumpy country road that they’ve got to get it home on. But this is the last maneuver Black Foil stick this and it’s in the bag. Boom. [Music] And just like that, Pete Burley shows the rest of the fleet who’s in charge. This will certainly shake up the overall standings after seven events. But the winners of the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix endorsement. It will be the Kiwis, the Black Boils. It is your Emirates Woody moment. Boom. Indeed, Todd. That was clinical and they look like they’ve made a bit of a mistake at the start as the fireworks go off in the background. It’s all happening on Portsouth seafront there. What a shot that is. Great result for Emirates. Great Britain. But yeah, amazing race, just clinical from the Black Fors. [Applause] So, the Kiwis get it done and they spoil the party for Emirates GBR. You go back to when this race was contested, Stevie, back in I think it was Plymouth in season 3. And again, it was the Kiwis that won that event. So, they obviously know these waters or this southern part of the UK. I know it’s a big stretch of land, but wow, they seem to do well here. Yeah, they they’re very comfortable here. you know, Pete and Blair where they won in their first Olympic medal was at the London 2012 Olympics. So, consistently seem to quite enjoy coming back to the UK, do a good job, but you know, ultimately they they showed a few signs of weakness. They made a mistake in in the start there. They were late, but they yeah, they just stay so composed like Hannah says when under pressure. So, the shore crew comes aboard and the celebration can begin. We’ll take care of some business here. The Emirates fly time 100% for the Black Foils. Peter Berling never count them out. They just seem like they can find a way somehow some way to put themselves in the right position and they do it again here on this event as they win event seven here in Portsouth. Great showing by the Swiss as well as Emirates GBR and the Rolex precision athletes of the day. Let’s hand one out to Sebastian Snder as the driver did a great job just getting his team into the final their very first. And then of course Mier the strategist for the Swiss as well. Blair too. I mean what can you say about him? An absolute rockstar as the wing trimmer. And from Brazil Andy Maloney the flight controller. I can’t argue with any of those nominations. No it was good day. Tough tough call for the Leo Takahashi though. He had a pretty good day on flight as well. EP World Highest Speed there. It’s going to go to Emirates Great Britain. 86.72 km an hour down those bumpy country roads. That’s pretty fullon for the British team there. Great day for them. although they’ll be disappointed not to have taken home the victory. So let’s take a look at the overall graph overall season standings now after seven events as we take a look first of all at the final results and it will be New Zealand. This is a season standings as New Zealand now moves into first place over Spain in the boners. Remember Spain was in first place coming to this one. Bonds flying ruse they stay in second place but it’s New Zealand now that goes from third to first. So look at this. New Zealand the bonds flying ruse and Spain. Yeah huge really when you look at the gap from fourth to fifth. I think Northstar Canada it’s been a disappointing event for them. Of course one event can turn things around but yeah for Berling and crew it’s all on top of the leaderboard. That’s where they like to be without a doubt. So now we can set our sights on the next event coming up for sale GP in season 5 and it is a new location. We are off to Sassnit in Germany that takes place on October 16th and 17th. We always love coming to a new event and it’ll be the Sale GP Grand Prix in Sassinets, Germany. Event number eight. For the first time in Sale GP history, the popular seaside resort of Sasnich, Germany hosts 12 worldclass teams. It’s the first opportunity for Eric Hile’s German Deutsche Bank to impress in front of passionate home fans. Eric Hyle in his second season for Germany Deutsche Bank. They’ve just been absolutely on fire. Don’t miss the Germany Sale Grand Prix sustenance. and we hope to see you there on August 16th and 17th. So, a short turnaround, less than a month’s time until everyone has to get back and over to Sas, Germany. Oh, short time ago, Lisa Darmman had caught up with the winners, Black Foils of New Zealand. Blair, congratulations winning an event. It’s been since the beginning of the season. How’s it feel? Ah, it’s unreal. Um, I think one of our best moments in CGP. It’s a huge fight from the team. We’ve really concentrated on trying to get better on these HSB2s in these conditions and uh yeah to do it against uh some strong opposition uh you know up against the British on their home waters. It feels pretty good. Awesome. Congratulations, Blair. Thank you very much. Well, here we go. Let’s have a little look back at what happened out there to see some of the highlights from that race. Here we go. Well, there it was all about the start. That’s so they said, but that wasn’t true, was it really? The British and the Swiss that timed things very well. British a little bit early, maybe not quite as fast as they’d like to be. Switzerland hung on on the inside, but it was almost turned into this little battle slowed the first two boats up. Yeah, that’s right. And it’s always easier to sail in a little bit of space, but a huge mistake by the Swiss coming around the gate here. Allowed the Black Foils to just tuck inside them and then really open up the course from there. Yeah, I mean it was a crucial moment that split in the course. Great Britain. Well, probably was their only choice really, but I wonder if they’ll look back and say they could have been more patient. When the Black Foils got out in front, they were pretty clinical and they just looked fast. I think they were flying the boat really well all day. You know that there was a lot of teams getting 100% flight time out there. So, you know, it was that kind of conditions, but they didn’t make a mistake. Swiss team rolled the dice once more, but it didn’t come good for them. Yeah, that’s right. And such a shame for them at the end when they had to drop out, but amazing finish for the Black Foils to take the win. Yeah. First time we really seen fireworks in Cell GP. Fairly spectacular moment there, but what a shot for the fans. Great day for sailing. So that brings the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix Portsouth to a conclusion in the Rolex Sale GP Championship. What a day and what a weekend of racing up and down all kinds of storylines and we will get ready for the next event. Reminder, it is coming up August 16th and 17th. It is a new firsttime visit for sale GP in season 5. We are heading to Sustit in Germany. So once again, congratulations to the Black Foils of New Zealand. On behalf of Stevie Morrison, Hannah Diamond, and Lisa Darmman, I’m Todd Harris saying so long for now. It’s the Kiwis that reign supreme in Portsouth. We’ll see you next month in Germany. Welcome to the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix Portsouth. Looks like Piccadilly Circus at the moment. And the Kiwis, they strike first on Sunday. Manchester. They absolutely dump the boat down into the water. And that position by the Swiss will put them into their very first event final in Sale GP. What a great day of racing here on the Solent as the Emirates Great Britain Sale Grand Prix Portsmith comes to a conclusion with Stevie Morrison, Hannah Diamond, and Lisa Darmman and I’m Todd Harris. Wow. packed the fans here in your home neck of the woods, Hannah Diamond, and they were treated to some great racing, although I think they would have liked to seen the home team get the win in the end. Yeah, and it was such a strong start for Emirates GBR, but amazing to see so many people out watching the racing as CGP. We knew it wasn’t going to disappoint and hopefully we’ve given everyone the show that they were looking forward to. Stevie, very impressive. And I think I said it during the racing, you can never count out Pete Berling and the Kiwis. No, I mean that, you know, some people might say they’ve struggled a bit. It was interesting to hear Blair Blair say that these new high-speed T foils, they haven’t looked as good on those to be honest. Uh, you know, and they’ll still, I’m sure, have things they can work on out there. But this is the first time they’ve won on those boards. They’re these new smaller boards that have, you know, give a little bit more potential power. They’re maybe a little bit harder to handle, few more control options on them. So, lots for all the crews to learn. And the Black Foils perhaps would have hoped to have learned a bit quicker. But yeah, big result for them. Good result for Emirates Great Britain in the whole season as a whole and gave the fans a few of them all the way to the final one. Yeah, for the Swiss, well, huge result cuz they’ve always struggled a bit with consistency whereas they actually delivered a whole event here. Yeah, they weren’t going to win when they did have that damage to their boat or or the system failure, whatever happened. We’ll we’ll find out that in the fullness of time, but the fact they made a final, the fact they were consistent for that long, really really good result for them. So, the Swiss make their first final, they were in a position to win this one. They had some technical issues on board. had to park the boat and then it became down to a one-on-one showdown with two of the hottest teams right now in Sale GP. Of course, New Zealand and Emirates GBR. And in the end, it was Peter Burley not making any mistakes. Got it done. As we take a look at the final results now, it’s Emirates GBR finishing in second place. So, they pick up the nine points. New Zealand pick up the 10. And that does a world of good to their overall, Stevie, as they go from third to first in the overall standings. Yeah. And I mean, you know, you see that Dip Pierre somehow, despite not even sailing yesterday, managed to salvage a point at least out of this

The teams get penalized for boat issues as though they own and build the boats, but the boats are all provided by SailGP. They have to provide more reliable boats!
Rule Zealandia
Thanks For Supporting Us!
When will GBR choose the correct side of the course?
GB cheating
Go Kiwis!!!!
Bloody entertaining racing all round. Such a good event

What is the meaning of the yellow star during start procedure?
yes Todd Harris is a little over the top however I just want him to pronounce grand prix properly. It is very grating and embarrassing to be honest.
Well done NZ!! ❤
That Kiwi edge with the Black Foils good on yah 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
Great racing, but some not-so-great boat problems are killing the teams and the fans. France, USA, Swiss, UK all dealing with gear issues.
Still don’t agree with the final race format. All the work & points over the previous 7 races counts for nothing when it’s a lottery win.
Great work blackfoils you rock epic races thank you team Zealand
What happens to rogue boats?
This so much more fun than the Americas Cup!! Thanks for all those who make it work.
Always a good day when Pistol Pete sticks it to Dylan Fletcher!
Fantastic result for Pistol Pete and his crew to come out on top of this regatta. Can't get enough of watching them employ their skill time and time again. Congratulations and bring on Germany in October!
The Canadians, race 6, were cheated out, taking evasive maneuvers to avoid a catastrophic collision w/ Denmark and GB. Team Canada was on starboard tack. Can't get more clear than that. Or is there something else?
Where was the champagne for our peeps?! Salty tears from GB?
Also just wanted to throw this in there… when it comes to the final 3 of the WHOLE years events, maybe make it best of 3 or 5 even? It's seems pretty flippant to find the winner of god knows how many races around the world, in just a quick one decider race.
Go Kiwis & Pistol Pete!
Kiwi's rule, AMEN…..
Well done New Zealand. Looking solid again. Beating Aussies brilliant, Portsmouth's a bonus 😁
When you watch it with all the race sounds and no commentary it is sooo much better!!! Wish they would just let the boats do the talking. The commentators though very passionate about their sport should just take a bloody breath every now and then.
VMG on the display would be a nice to have over speed.
campo di gara troppo piccolo e troppe barche in competizione. Sail GP sta diventando una gran confusione. Non sorprende di vedere che i migliori partono sempre per ultimi per stare fuori dalla confusione alla partenza. Non si riesce a seguire bene la gara .
Thrilled for the Swiss. Happy to see Canada fight back against a rough weekend.
Back on top of the podium and back to back Great Britain leg wins🎉 2024 & 2025! Loving it New Zealand! 🇳🇿
– Congratulations New Zealand!
– Shout-out to the shore crew for getting France back into racing shape overnight– and they didn't do half bad, either.
– Great job Switzerland getting into their first final.
– The home team didn't quite win the event, but they did certainly perform well, the home crowd should be proud.
Absolutely stoked for pistol Pete and the team go the black foils
Penalty Aus. in Race 2 is BS ……
I reckon that a welcome addition to SailGP's offering would be to have the umpires give a step by step breakdown of their penalty decisions. It would be a great 'education' tool.
For example, in that AUS incident multiple rules came into play in those last few seconds, and the transition moments between them were critical to the outcome.
"Umpire Incident Breakdowns", would make a great between race filler.
Great result for Italy!! Great weekend!
Split screen showing overall positions would be good. Quite often we miss critical moments
No idea why english reporter / presenter have to shout and scream. Is the action on the water not hot enough? It's like the real Formula 1: only to cope without sound
No Sail GP is not showing if Women can compete with men. WTF is wrong with you guys. Nice racing but this wrongfully short film about Martine Grael is bullshit. Stick with the facts. You can say so only if you have an all women team on board. Please a scientific sport like SailGP should stick with science.
Nice commercial in “the background “😂
Is there any milage for the NZ team having "Black Foils" i.e. any thermal assistance with black foils heating up?
Why show the lead boat crossing the line when the 2nd and 3rd place boats are squeezing each other rounding the mark. Has the director any idea about sail racing?
I was somewhat surprised at Coutts not including the Kiwi team, (or the British for that matter), in his list of the top four teams in terms of "form" coming into Portsmouth, in the "Three Big Questions" interview the day before the regatta began.
His opinions do seem to me to have become a bit less measured in recent years.
Camera coverage is alot better here in portsmouth.
You beauty Pete!
they cut out the cancelled fleet race where a spectator drove their boat in front of the start line as the race started while gbr were still with the support rib
Will stop looking at these events due to the huge amounts of ads. Drives me crazy taking away all the joy unfortunately.
What happened to the SUI boat in last race?
You should keep talking on the team New Zealander not those at the bottom or ways back talks teams New Zealander 😂😂😂😂😂❤
Congratulations to the @Sailgp broadcast crew. The coverage is so much better recently!
The dual helicopter coverage has been fantastic.
Even using Picture in Picture at the right time to show the replay or even the first place boat approaching the finish line without missing action behind.
I know some of you don't care for the commentary crew, but that's true with every different sport and TV channel.
Hats off to SailGP!
BLACK FOILS😎
This gave me chills… in the best way
Why race 6 start was cancelled??? (minute 32:03)
I cannot see any boats in the start line or on the racecourse… even the start moment in the clip has been cut and manipulated (minute32:03)
Looks like GBR was going to do a bad start and the empires stop the race to prevent Spain to take the spot in the final race.
This is a SCANDAL!!!
