[Music] Welcome to What’s Cooking with Como. We are not in my home kitchen in Washington DC because we are on a bike trip in Greece. We’re biking the Pelpinesis and these are our amazing guys Demetrius and Fotus and we have had the best week. This is our last day and we just had the most incredible lunch by the water. Tell us where we are. So, yeah, we are at the Vivari. We are on the Pelon. We are on the east coast uh of the Peloponist ride down to Naflio. So we stopped midway between the ancient Pavo stadium and Naflio to have lunch in this beautiful scenery back we have the sea and we tried the seafood here in uh Dimitri recommended this restaurant. Tell us about the restaurant. What’s it called? The restaurant here is uh the Lemani. Salmani means uh the poor and me I’ve been coming here with my groups for many years and stuff you know on our way back always from ifidaras and stuff you know because it’s a very nice spot and you can sit right here right next on the sand right next to the sea uh and George and his family runs this restaurant for many years. Uh it’s a very nice place to eat. You can go inside and pick out your fish. Yeah. Ah yes. How you guys went earlier and stuff and picked out fish. It’s very nice experience. You get the whole This is one of the best meals we’ve had all week and the entire So, we’re going to talk a little bit of Greek cuisine since this is a food show. What is your favorite dish, Notice? So, yeah, my favorite uh dish is stuffed tomatoes. I love it so much. It’s also vegan and vegetarian, but I combine it always with feta. So, I have always the feta on the side and add it later to mix everything up and also with bread. So that’s my favorite thing. Delicious. We tried it at uh Zim, the restaurant we went to yesterday. Yeah, it was so good. In my city. Very nice. That was good. How about you? That used your food used to be my favorite food when I was a kid. But then I grew up, you know, and changed or whatever, you know. So then now mine uh if my wife is cooking this, she makes very nice mushaka. Mushaka. Shall I tell you ingredients and all that? Mhm. So, musaka is a very nice plate where they start out with a a layer of potatoes at the bottom. Then there’s a there’s a layer of fried eggplant or oberine some people call it and then it has minced meat sauce and then has a very nice topping of basamel on top and something makes this very lovely plate. Some people make a lighter version of that. Instead of using the eggplant, they use fried zucchinis. Mhm. Uh very very nice uh dish. Yeah, the food here has been incredible. This is my first time in Greece and we’ve had such amazing restaurant stops along the way. And the nice thing about doing a tour, a guided bike tour is you get to learn so much history along the way and then you appreciate the meals even more because you’re biking. And even though I have an ebike, ebikes are hard. Oh, I know. You have to pedal. Yes. 30 miles a day is not easy. The only thing the the good thing about the ebikes, it feels like somebody’s pushing you sometimes and stuff, you know, along the way and stuff. Especially uphill, you really need that extra push. So, you guys do a lot of tours. What’s your favorite part about touring around the pelpines? Yeah, definitely the food. Yeah. Yeah. Me visiting all the ancient sites and meeting a lot of uh people from different countries and it’s very nice. Yes. Tell us a little bit about the company you’re with because this has been such an amazing experience. I want anybody watching right now to know where they can get in contact with you guys. So we work in the the company is called Aras Travel Services uh based in Tripoli uh and we do tours we do seven tours cycling self-guided cycling tours around uh Greece two in the islands in uh on the island of Citr doing the cyclades where every day you’re changing island by ferry you’re cycling that island and then you’re spending the night and then you change the next day to the next island and then we do four on the mainland of uh the Pelpines that we do around and that’s what we’re on right now. One of those one of the four. Yes. Several others. Yeah. Yeah. So you guys are doing the starting off in Vetina Town and working your way all the way down to Naplio over one week self-guided. It’s nice to have the support though with the team, especially because you guys have told us so much good information about where to eat, what to order, all the different historical sites we’ve seen along the way, which has been really special to experience. And you know what else I really love about Greek culture? The cats everywhere we go. They’re beautiful neighborhood clubs. They’re right there eating dinner. Yeah. This is great. They join you for every meal. Feels like they’re part of the family. Yes. Yes. And cycling through a lot of the neighborhoods and the um smaller dirt roads has been so special because you get to see a different point of view than just going to the big cities. Like I loved Athens, but this is really special. That’s right. I think in this tour uh the good thing about this tour is that you get to see the authentic Greece. Yeah. I think that’s the most uh devi you’re not always in uh where a lot of people other people go like to the islands you know and they see uh where everybody is not Greek everybody is from somewhere else and stuff you know here you see the the authentic how I say and stuff you know probably why the food’s been so special yeah definitely yeah definitely the foods and everything there and you look out at the view on the water like this just cycling along the coast those have been my favorite days as much as I love being in the mountains where We started. What was the first town we went to? The little mountain town. Vatina. That was Vitina. We loved Vitina as well. The honey there. Oh, yes. They have a lot of very Yeah, they’re very famous for the honey up there. This has been a great way to exercise and experience Greek food and culture. And I’m so thankful for you guys for giving us all of your insight into the amazing um you know, areas that we’ve been traveling. We’re heading to Santorini, Mkos, and Paris. You guys are going to some very nice islands, too. Yeah. Trying to make the most of the time here. Yeah. And POS is very nice. Very, very nice. You guys are lucky, man. So, we have what about 15 miles left and our bike tour is over. Yes. It’s been a nice wrap-up. So, thank you again for showing us around. I’m so full of seab. We’ve had such a good time, too. Yes. Yes. And I’m just going to throw this out there because we’re on my significant other Brennan’s family’s trip and his parents who are 78 and 82, I think, had an easier time cycling than I did. Yeah. They’re impressive. No, you have to get used to it. Especially the saddle sitting on that bike for two, three hours straight. Sometimes it’s going to be hard. Yeah. Yes. Now, time to get the helmet back on. Maybe we’ll swim first. Thank you for your time today. Bye, guys. You’re welcome, guys. Thank you. Didn’t come out good. It was okay. [Music] [Laughter] [Music]
