National Trophy round one. Just started my practice lap. Let’s take a look at the course. So far so good. It’s all dry. Okay, so let me give you a bit of a commentary along here. Going up past the pitches, the football pitches. Going much, much further than previous years. It’s been years and years since we’ve been that far up here. But we’re back onto familiar territory just here. that tight turn up the climb and then into the familiar wiggling through the trees around the top and then as you come down it’s that camber where you’re on your side lugs trying to get the grip here. The line slightly different. Um I can’t tell quite how different but it’s it just feels different to normal. Um but a nice section. We’ve just gone past where we used to go to the bomb hole. Apparently the local wildlife is in there this year so good decision not to use it. and then across the top into an absolutely crucial section. This bit here where you’re on that camber, really important section to get right. It can be fast or you can go through the tape. Um, good luck on there. This section, the wiggly section by the pits, loads of grip along there, back up over another bridge. bridges aren’t as perhaps as severe as they have been in previous years at Derby, but still more than challenging enough, particularly with this really, really strong headwind around these switchbacks where they always are every year. Um, nice section there, challenging uphill. Um, as you go around each one, you’ve got to keep your momentum. This one is the opposite way. You’re going back down. Um, and then along and a third set of these. Normally these are kind of in the opposite direction as you come out of the bomb hole, but this year they’re on the return in towards the uh finish coming up through through the fence around this section which never feels like there’s loads of grip. And you’ll see some people riding it ridiculously fast. Coming along past Gritty City through the start finish and there we go. There’s your lap. Do drop into Gritty, see what we’ve got this weekend.
