Tadej Pogačar continues to redefine what dominance looks like in cycling. Just one week after winning the World Championships in Rwanda, he soloed to victory at the European Road Championships in France, not even Remco Evenepoel, could follow.
With eighteen wins this season, including the Tour of Flanders, Liège, the Tour de France, Worlds, and now Europeans, Pogačar has entered the realm of cycling’s all-time greats.
We look at the win, the reaction from rivals, and where Pogačar is racing next — Tre Valli Varesine tomorrow and Il Lombardia on Saturday, both live and on demand on FloBikes for viewers in Canada.

Tedd Pugachar has done it again. Another solo attack, another title, another master class. Yesterday, the Slovenian superstar in the European title championships went on the attack with 75 km to go, leaving everyone, including Remco Evanul, in the dust and leaving us all to ask, how does he do it? Remco tried. As I mentioned, he chased for more than an hour. But the truth, no one has an answer for Tad. And there’s more racing to come, perhaps more domination. The racing or the rain continues tomorrow. And yeah, there’s a big one this Saturday. More details to come on that. But first, let’s talk about how we got here. How we got to this point in 2025. We’re now at the beginning of October in total TADA domination. The season start was unreal. The pressure on Tad with his home team there in its tour, the UAE tour. Tad needed to win. He pulled it off. Overall victory at the UAE tour. Then from there, a series of one-day races. He was focused on winning the races he doesn’t yet have in his Palm Mars. He was unsuccessful in those in Sanremo third and Perubet second. Not bad, but not the victories. And Tad is a winner. However, he did sweep up along the way from Strate Bianke through Leaz Baston leazge book ending with wins. Strate Bianke along the way Flanders and capping off his spring campaign in Lier’s Baston Leage backed off reset rebooted came back fresh. This is Tad the Criterium Duden wins that Remco looks a little bit not quite up to snuff there. Yonasfing joins in the racing at the stage race. That’s the leadup to the Tur to France. Tad wins there in his rainbow jersey, taking the yellow jersey, the race overall, a few weeks out from the Tur to France where he wins his fourth title, backing up last year’s title, still in the rainbow jersey, but he wouldn’t have that on for long because he would soon be wearing the Mayo Jean for every day of the race. Now we get to another rest, another reboot, and he reappears at the Canadian races. He doesn’t win there, but he helps his teammate Brandon McNelte pick up one of the Canadian races as he preps for the World Championships in his title defense from Zurich. This year, for the first time ever, we have our World Championships in Africa. Tad goes there, he dominates. He attacks on the big climb, 100 km out, joined by Del Toro, joined by Ausso. Then at 66.6 6 km to go. Del Toro can’t hang anymore. Auso is already long gone. Tatt’s on a rampage. Wins solo in Kegali. One week later, we’re here in France. Tad gets the opportunity to race in this national team race with Slovenia support, but in the rainbow jersey. He picks up his first win as 2025 world champion. It’s not over yet, but so far this is one of the most complete and dominant seasons the sport has seen. I found myself at the front and I tried to keep a good gap around 1 minute. “I don’t think it was super dominant,” said Tad afterwards. “Ramco was chasing me and I couldn’t give up until the finish line. I had to push really, really hard. I’m happy it’s over and another title.” Team Belgium tried everything, sending wave after wave of attacks. But as search pals warned before the race, if Tatty attacks early, it’ll end badly. And there he was on one of the climbs with about 76 75 km to go and just rides Remco off his wheel. One of Remco’s teammates afterwards joked, “If anybody can tell me how to beat Tatty Pugachar today, I’d love to hear it.” Well, they tried everything. And Vermco, despite his saddle problems at the World Championships in the road race, he did pick up the time trial title. And there yesterday with the team tactics seemingly so good for team Belgium, he couldn’t pull it off. No one has that answer on how to beat Pad. It was probably the most fair result, Ramco said afterwards. Another silver medal at the European Championships. That’s a shame. Tad Pogachar’s attack was just too long. I had to let it go in the last deep section, he continued. I did my best and rode my race. It’s a fair result. 18 wins so far this year and it’s not over with yet. There’s still more racing to come. We’re getting to that. He’s winning on every terrain. Time trials, cobblestones, turf landers a couple times, mountains. He’s doing it. He’s picking up the titles. He’s picking up the victories. He’s putting himself up there with the great Eddie Merks, Bernardino, Fausto Kopi in a cycling era that’s arguably more difficult. This is Tatt Pugachar domination. And staying on FTO copi for a minute, remember I mentioned that we talked about where Tatt Pugachar is racing next. Well, you can tune in tomorrow for more racing because we have the Trey Valet Verina. That’s on Tuesday up in northern Italy in Lombardia. Then the racing continues still in the same northern region in Italy and it’s the tour of Lombardia or Il Lombardia and Tatty’s out to match FTO copy’s five win record. But Tatty would do so winning five titles straight in Ilardia, one of the five cycling monuments. So now it’s your turn. Let us know down in the comments. Drop your thoughts right down below. Is Tad Pogachar the greatest ever cyclist? And if so, what makes him that? And if not, why are the riders from the 60s or 70s better than this Tatty Pagotch we have today? Also, make sure you subscribe right there. Hit that button so you’re not going to miss out on any more news and reports that we have from the remainder of the 2025 season and going on to 2026 because we have the Tour to France presentation coming up. And for those races, Tal Verina Il Lombardia, well, they’re live and on demand for our viewers in Canada. There’s a link to sign up so you can catch them upcoming right down in the description. So, click on that link right down below. Who are the big rivals for Ilardia? Well, Pagacho comes in with a power pack team. I don’t think our favorite Isaac Del Toro is racing in the team, but the start list is still yet to be finalized for Ilardia. We do have Adam Yates in the team and he should be a key helper for Pogachar. Rivals, well, there’s always Ramco Evanapool and Tom Picco racing. Look out for Wanayuso who rode well in the world’s in the European Championships. Julio Chicone from Leal Trek. Yes, all the teams are putting back on their trade team colors. Julia Chakone from Leal Trek. And then look for Remco Evanapul’s future teammate for 2026 from Red Bull Borehans Groier Florian Leapawitz. It’s not over yet, but Tatty Pagachar has already rewritten cycling in 2025. This is the season we’ll be talking about for years.

I was in Montreal and he could easily have won there too. While he looked tired right after the race in Rwanda, the European Championships looked like a training ride for him! Phenom. In a sport that values suffering so much how do you deal with someone who just looks so happy to be there?
Is this what Merckx peak felt like for non-Belgians?
IMO Pogacar's peak is greater than the legends from the 60s and 70s, Merckx included. Back then the vast majority of riders came from just 6 countries. Pogacar is achieving a similar level of dominance in a much larger talent pool.
He has already surpassed the times of yore riders.
A couple videos before you were speaking how he is broken didnt you? 🙂 … please
He is riding the views wave and just doing everything for the views.
At the moment, Tadej is #2 all-time… after Eddie Merckx. The Cannibal won 11 Grand Tours and 19 Monuments. Tadej is on 5 and 9. But he has time on his side. I wouldn't be surprised if he overtakes Merckx in both categories within the next 5 or 6 years. Look for him to win Paris-Roubaix next year… but probably not Milan – San Remo. And next year the Worlds are on a Montreal course he owns! I'm rooting for him to win 3 in a row like Peter Sagan. Anyway, win or lose, it's a privilege to be a cycling fan in the Tadej Pogaçar era.
I'm guessing he did it with non-detectable vitamins. Just my opinion for all the couch racers.
While I understand that Merckx has more wins in all of the big races, to me it is comparing apples to oranges. In 1970 the TDF winner received the equivalent of 30,000 euros while today it is 500,000 euros. Eddie Merckx famously said he raced so much because he did not earn that much from races. The money from sponsorship deals wasn't big either. Today, the best riders earn millions of euros just from their team salary and add millions more from sponsorships. No matter how you look at it, more money means more resources devoted to riders improving and in turn tougher competition. What Merckx achieved was amazing but what Pogacar is doing is completely different and truly awe inspiring given the competition level he is facing.
Tade is closing on Eddy fast. Only four hundred more victories to go.
I am a huge fan of Pogi and his riding style. And therefore i am a little bit concerned if everything is okay with him. Yesterday, during the ceremony, he didn't look very happy. In fact he looked a bit sad. It reminded me of some days in this years TDF, where he looked the same. I don't know if it is simpy fatique (physical and mental) or something else.
Thanks for Pogi’s 2025 race summary! It’s just crazy to think of it…WHILE he’s piling up the numbers!! It’s like watching Gretzky putting up his numbers in real time…you don’t get to digest his greatness without a bird’s eye view.
Can we just appreciate generational excellence.
There’s only One goat : Merckx ! Pogacar 100 victories. Merckx 525 !
Merckx is still #1.
but tadej is fast on his heels. a couple of more grand tours, and some more palmares, including the Olympics, and then we can really open up this conversation for debate.
When ll is said and done (I don't think he will continue after his UAE contract expires), he will end up somewhere between Merckx and Hinalt but closer to Eddy.
Yes absolutely the best ever, nobody wins races with such great doll lace
>460W for 15 mins is how you beat him. Oh yeah you'll need to be 65kg😢
