A slightly different format today. I’m in the city of Cahors, passing through Cahors. But like in all cities, the big problem is traffic. As you can see over there, it’s jammed on the bridge, and it’s like that everywhere in the city. As long as you stay outside the city or next to the Valentré bridge, which is on the outskirts of Cahors, everything goes well. But as soon as you enter the city, it’s carnage to find a space. And that brings me to present to you today the Evercross electric folding bike , the EK5. A great little bike. We’re going for a ride together afterward, but you’ll see, it’s incredible. If you’re looking for speed, to be as fast as possible with electric assistance, this bike is not for you. It’s not designed for that at all. This bike is designed to be folded and unfolded in ten seconds, not even ten. There you see it unfolded. And there it is folded. Look at the space it takes up. Afterwards, I’ll show you it in the trunk of the car, but it’s ridiculous how much space it takes up. It’s tiny. You can carry it around by hand, holding it by the saddle. It rolls on its rear wheels. It fits in an elevator. It fits under a desk. Here, I haven’t even lowered the saddle, but if I lower it a little more, it fits under a desk and you can even work next to it if you want. I’m showing you in a car trunk. And look, once folded in the trunk: it ‘s 76 cm by 50 cm. It really doesn’t take up any space. Here, I have a large trunk, but I’m sure that in a small sedan, it would fit easily. Come on, I’ll show you live the unfolding of the bike. It literally takes 10 seconds. You lock it there and there. You put the pedals back and that’s it. There, it’s ready to roll. Before we take it for a spin and show you how it slips through, we’ll take a look at the technical side in two seconds. Disc brakes at the rear, and at the front too. Small LED headlight. Small LCD screen that’s very readable even in direct sunlight. 250W rear motor, which is the standard in France. A 36V battery with which we can go up to 45 km depending on the assistance speed we ask of it. 16-inch wheels and a weight of 22 kg. So 22 kg, it’s super practical to take it down from the trunk, put it back in the trunk. In short, it handles really well. A saddle with shock absorber: the saddle lifts up and allows the battery to come out of its housing with an anti-theft system. Here, you press the key, you turn, and there, you can take the battery out. And there you go. Which makes it even lighter. But above all, it allows us to take the battery home, recharge it quietly, and the next morning, we come back, slide it in, lock the bike again, and it’s ready to go. Let’s go. I put the assistance on 1 as you can see here. There, you have to pedal for the assistance to start. So the feeling is that there is no fatigue. I don’t tire at all. The only effort is to pedal barely to leave the assistance activated, and we are at 15 km/h. This will give you a little tour. So on assistance number 2, we are at 20 km/h. There, since it’s a one-way passage, I put it on 3 so as not to hang around on the path, since there is only one car at a time. So I put it on 3, and we will reach 25 km/h. Ah, right away, we take a little push. There, we don’t tire at all. It’s moving along well. 25 km/h. It climbs a tiny bit, I went back down to 20 km/h. Well, to be honest, I’m a beautiful 90 kg baby anyway. And there, I stop on the Valentré bridge. I’m going to put myself back on 1 because it’s pedestrian, I’m not going to go too fast, and we’re going to move forward quietly. So there, we’re on a paved road, it’s super comfortable. We’re going to stop for a little while, we’re here to walk, so it’s super pretty. I’ll take this opportunity to tell you that the saddle suspension is very pleasant. You don’t feel the vibrations of the bike at all, or almost none. You feel them a little, but not much, so it plays its role as a shock absorber well. Come on, let’s continue. Let’s go around. Now, it’s true that when we’re in town, I can easily imagine someone who has a camper van. We know the problems with camper vans: they can’t park, they’re refused… Anyway, it’s a real mess, having done a bit of it, I quickly saw that it was complicated. And that fits in a hold. For those who know what I mean, it fits in a camper van hold easily. You put a strap, a small piece of foam to protect it and prevent it from vibrating on the walls of the camper van. And it’s really great. You can easily put two, three easily in a hold without any problem. Okay, I’m on 1, so I’m dragging myself a little. I’m going to put on 2, or even 3. So there, you feel as if someone is pushing you in the back. And 3 now… Oh yeah, no, it’s funny. It’s really nice. When you stop pedaling, the assistance stops. So, there’s still the bike’s inertia, but the assistance stops. So we pretend to pedal and we move at 25 km/h. Here, I also have a little thought for those who take the metro: to get from home to the station, or from the station to work, we can very well take it with us, take it on the metro, it wouldn’t be a problem. I tested the disc brakes: they brake hard. They brake very hard, even. So it’s a knack, but it’s a bit like on a motorcycle: disc brakes are more than enough to stop this bike, even with 90 kg on it. Sorry. Thanks. There. Ah well, I’m talking about the brakes… Well, we just saw it in a demonstration. It stops easily. And there, I pass by the parking lots. Obviously, when we park outside the city in free parking lots, it allows us to avoid getting fined. And that’s something that no one appreciates. Well, the traffic jam I showed you earlier on the bridge… well, we’re right in the middle of it. So now, I’m going to put it back on 1, otherwise I’ll go too fast. And here I am back to square one. Great little ride. To conclude on this bike for less than €550, and what’s more, in the description, I’ll put a promo code for you so you can get another discount: I found it super nice, super comfortable, very practical because it really folds in 10 seconds and it really doesn’t take up any space. For those who have boats, caravans, campers, or just those who don’t want their bike stolen and prefer to bring it home without taking up too much space, it’s an excellent bike. I thank the Evercross brand for asking me to test this product. I’m delighted with it and I’m definitely going to ride it a lot. Don’t forget to check out the description: I’ve put a link to go directly to the bike. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments, I’ll be happy to answer them.
