Exploring the GM Ringway, a 186-mile orbital trail around the outskirts of Greater Manchester.
The final part of the Rosie the Dog trilogy, stage seventeen marks the least visually stimulating leg of the Ringway so far, comprising just over 10 miles alongside busy main roads and through featureless fields from Leigh to Irlam, the highlight of the stage being the long meander round Little Woolden Moss nature reserve.
[Music] [Music] Good morning and welcome to life without shakers and welcome to Lee Town Center on the bank holiday Monday. It’s time for stage 17. I think we’re on the GM ringway. It’s uh just over 10 miles from Lee to erm today. Right, as we leave bus station to set off on today’s stage, let me tell you what is in store. Yeah, highlights of today’s walk include Hope Car Nature Reserve which boasts a complex array of wetland habitats, footpaths along the tran valley of the tranquil river glaze, views of three historic country homes to light oaks hall, little walden hall and great wen hall and 115 hectare little wen moss nature reserve. Uh it also mentions station with it delightful linear park, restored signal box and friendly cafe. Uh but that is literally the end point of the walk. So yeah, it’s going to be flat and basically feels well bit today. Uh and it’s a little bit cold, but hopefully should stay dry. So let’s see what we got to see. [Music] myself again. Uh I think today was what it was rather bit of a linking stage. Took a while to get going with all the miles through along busy roads and through housing estates in Leaf. Uh but it got to stride eventually. Uh the obvious highlight being the long meander around Little Walden Moss. It’s quite nice. Uh yes. So there’s only three more stages to go. Next stop, Altonham.
