Hello. Today is day 130 of riding my bike around the world and today we finished riding in France and crossed over into Spain. The first 20 miles of the day we’re heading out of Beeritz and heading towards the border with Spain. We had quite a bit of elevation. Not actually, but just compared to all of the flat riding that we’ve been doing for the past 2 weeks. It definitely felt like a big change. We’ve had such a good time riding in France. I definitely didn’t want it to end. But I’m also very excited to get to Spain and experience a new country and be somewhere where I understand the language a little bit more. So yeah, just looking forward to that, too. Um, the views were beautiful and we finished up like some of our last miles right by the ocean cuz we’re going to be heading inland, so we won’t see the water for a little bit of time. Also, when I was scrolling around on Google Maps, I saw this like little island right on the Spanish and French border that had a weird map line that I had never seen before. like it encircled it and I learned that it changes ownership every 6 months. It’s this little nothing of an island, but I thought that was pretty cool and it’s done that for the past 300 years. Anyway, this was the moment that we crossed into Spain and we gave each other a little high five because that means we passed through another country, but unfortunately there was no sign for us to take a photo with. Um, that kind of happens sometimes with the EU countries like especially if we’re not on the main road, we don’t always get a sign, but that’s okay. It started to rain pretty heavy and we also haven’t had much rain for the past two weeks, so that was another change. We went through all of these tunnels which were really cool. They had lights that like turned on automatically. Um, so that was kind of fun. And yeah, gave us a little bit of cover from the rain. But yeah, our clothes got completely drenched and so did our shoes and I forgot how unpleasant it is to have wet socks, but that’s all good. Um, yeah, we rode through some of these tunnels. It got dark. We put on our lights and our hive and then we made it to the little town that we’re staying in tonight. So excited to get dry. I will see you guys tomorrow.
