Today is the last day of September and I went out on a fabulous ride on what is a very sunny day. I had two objectives. First to take advantage of the sun. After all, summer is almost over. But secondly, to demonstrate that East Anglia, the area of the UK where I live, is not entirely flat. Okay, as you can see here, some of East Angular is flat. Indeed, very flat. However, I went down south into the Essex Hills. How was I going to demonstrate East Angular is entirely flat? By riding 100 kilometers with 1,000 m of ascent. The ride was great, as was the carrot cake halfway round. But did I prove that East Anglia isn’t entirely flat? Not quite. As you can see here, over the 100 km, I managed to do 975 m of vertical ascent. So, not quite 1,000 m. However, is it close enough? Let me know in the comments. Never mind. I’ll just have to try again in the future and find a few more hills.
