  1. There are differences in battery management between Shimano and SRAM.
Shimano uses a fixed installed battery in the frame with larger capacity.
SRAM has smaller batteries installed in the components which can be easily replaced when battery is low.
    Both concepts have their pro’s.

Concerning the DI2 – did a 400 km + ride in August starting with 100 % battery and returned with > 60% – terrain was partiell hilly so a lot of gear changing was applied

    I ride a Grail SF 8 DI2 2×11 and I am absolute enthusiast with the DI2!

  2. It’s tricky, but I’d choose SRAM because of the PM reliability. I hate 4iiii.

Zipp wheels are hookless, though, and the SRAM version is a bit more expensive.

Shimano integration app sucks big. It’s like a prehistoric-designed app that needs a complete redesign. Please, Shimano, do something about it.

SRAM, on the other hand, is years ahead in app integration and user friendliness when it comes to configuration.

Needless to say, this is my opinion.

    In summary, SRAM.

  3. I would always, always choose Shimano over SRAM if you intend to ride it elsewhere but home, especially if home is outside the US.

If your bike breaks down for whatever reason, you can always get it working with other Shimano parts. I had two MTB holidays where my SRAM bike failed and I couldn’t get it fixed in time due to unavailability of parts at local bike shops.

Edit: I see you’re at a German website.
Especially in Germany :P. These breakdowns both happened in Germany (I’m Dutch) and I couldn’t find a SRAM dealer on the route from the Netherlands to the Czech Republic when I needed new chainrings/crankset. And I couldn’t find a mechanic to fix my disc brake leak on SRAM with their DOT fluid.

I have the Dura Ace because it was heavily discontinued but if I could go back I would pick SRAM red or force. I hate having to move my whole bike to charge it lol

  5. I’d want the Shimano groupset and plain paint job, but the Zipp wheels, so probably end up not buying either 😅
