Ever wondered how a pump-action shotgun actually works?

This in-depth 3D animation covers the internal operation of all moving parts during the firing sequence of Mossberg 500 and 590 pump-action shotguns.

This video is the result of a months-long project involving Mossberg engineers and renowned 3D animation artist Matt Rittman. @mattrittman

  1. i remember now of a stupid guy who said in another video comments "yeah i won't take such shotgun just because they are popular , yeah i prefer a different shotgun" what's wrong getting what's popular , or simply what they propose you instead of being biased and preferring a different gun ? as long you have a good weapon that work well, nothing dramatic, it cannot be as worse as getting new shoes. crazy how people who want other choices have that same arrogance.

  3. in my opinion, this is the most successful shotgun system. there are a lot of reasons, i won't explain. i bought myself an m500 with a short barrel. a large batch of these ores was imported to russia in the 1990s

  4. Can someone tell me what the 500 Persuader is? I have one that's in brand new condition still with the sticker on the stock and can't really find much information on it. What I did find is that it is the only shotgun to pass the military torture test. Mine seems like it's a shorter barrel, maybe 16"? I'm thinking it would be a great backpacking gun in the massive Idaho wildernesses if I can fit a holster to my pack.

  5. I want to buy a Mossberg here in Belgium , problem is that there are not a lot of gunstores which sell mossbergs here.
Gunshop owners say that it is because Mossberg doesn’t provide enough weapons to them. I want to buy a 590a1 and I’m waiting for my permit for this gun (4 months in Belgium) and gunshop owners say that probably this year no Mossberg 590a1 or other types, maybe occasionally a maverick 88….
If this is really the case with mossberg then I don’t want it anymore. A shame because we see more and more people joining shootingclubs here and everyone, and I mean everyone, wants a pumpaction gun. But we can choose out of benelli , fabarm and Winchester as the common brands. Occasionally a gunshop sells Mossberg but don’t have any to show….

  6. I grew up in the age when a few diagrams in a manual were considered enough, they weren't. THIS is what I like. Thank you Mossberg for making the gun I bought from you actually easier to understand quickly. This video is great.
