Exploring the French island of Ile de Re on the Atlantic coast near La Rochelle. This island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the beautiful ruins in this video is The Abbey of the Chateliers also known as The Abbey of Notre-Dame de Re it is approximately 900 years old and was built by Cistercian monks and was once the most powerful abbey in Western France. I hired an electric bike from one of the many bike rental shops. Ile de Re has many communes and this site is close to La Flotte.
