We had an unexpected stop while bicycle touring through Belgium. We had just crossed the border a couple hours ago from Holland and our route was taking us along a beautiful canal.
We passed a series of locks and finally came to a huge observation tower. We took a break from cycling, decline the stairs and see the incredible view.
You never know what surprise might be around the next curve in the road

Sometimes when you’re on a bike trip, you have these pleasant little surprises that come out of nowhere. And we’re cycling along a canal here in Belgium. And there’s like a huge canal network and where some of the canals come together. There’s this huge tower that we’ve climbed. We have an amazing view up here. This was a really nice stop. Now we’ve got about 10 12 more miles to go to reach our destination and time to rest. The view stretches so far. I think I can see Russia. Well, maybe not Russia. Maybe just Sarah Palin’s house. One thing’s for certain, Belgium is flat. And those are our bikes way down there. I’m guessing this might be the highest point in all of Belgium.
