Meet Catherine, a Halo member in Hereford who has embraced the cycle track and gym as part of her journey to stay active with arthritis. Rediscovering her love of cycling, building confidence in the Toning Suite, and enjoying the social connections along the way, Catherine is proof that it’s never too late to start.

As she says, “Always give it a try.”

This video is part of Positive Ageing Week, celebrating the power of movement, wellbeing, and community at every stage of life.

[Music] My name is Katherine Ree. I got involved in the Be More Active through Healthy Lifestyles and that came about because at the beginning of this year I had some problems with arthritis and I was advised to ensure that I was moving. So I enjoy cycling. I’ve always been cycling in the past. And I also enjoy gym and through Halo Leisure using the toning machines because they’ve also been helpful in terms of developing confidence and stamina. It’s never too late to start. Basically, give it a try. If you embark on it where you’ve got supervision and support, then it feels more comfortable and more encouraging. I think it’s got me out basically. So for example, when I come here to the cycle track, I now know some of the people who provide the service. It’s only a small thing, but just getting out, meeting people, and connecting with others, it makes me feel as if I’ve achieved something. [Music]
