Good morning. It’s uh day three of the uh I think it’s day three, which is day two of the Wild Atlantic Way, part two. Bit confusing. And uh we’re making our way north. My uh main Garmin satnav has decided to throw a hissy fit. So I’m now navigating from my phone, which might be the way forward anyway, actually yesterday. Uh B&B last night. Incredible. Really good breakfasts. Lovely, lovely host. Uh didn’t go out last night. Just stayed in. Drank lots of water. Just tried to uh tried to recharge a little bit. And it uh it’s worked to feel really pretty really pretty really good this morning. Got a lot of riding to do. About 6 and 1 half hours I think of riding, maybe six, but a few attractions along the way hopefully. Uh should be a good day. Looking forward to it. Currently the weather is okay. Windy as ever. It’s 15° but quarter to 10. That’s not too bad, is it? So, all’s good. This is a beautiful place. Some sort of country park, I believe. I’ll see you in a bit. Now listening to Calimoto Nav app through my uh earphones. Some stunning roads so far and some stunning views as you can see. Pretty special special place. Full stop. I think few sheep to dodge on the way here so far. So I can’t see on the map where I’m going. I can just hear where I’m going. So bit of a combination of both. Hopefully that will see us right. Got to be a little bit careful on here. It’s a little bit gruffly in the middle. Not too bad. Just stick it to one side. [Music] 600 years ago was actually attached to the mainland. It’s quite interesting. So the visitor center was uh I don’t know how you pronounce it maybe Kaider field something like that is the uh oldest wall walled farming area in the world really fascinating place uh to see how they’ve discovered it and how they’ve uh all the archaeologists and that have come in and uh tried to discover all the walls. Absolutely fascinating. Well worth a visit. only €5. I could walk around the fields as well. I’ve got all this technology available to me, but great when it works, not so great when it doesn’t. The Bluetooth just isn’t talking talking to each other. So, at the moment, I’ve got my main sat in front of me that’s set to go to my new B&B, next BMBB, but that’s just the direct route cuz that’s not following the Wild Atlantic way. I’ve got the Calamoto directions in my ear, which has been telling me to do a U-turn for about the last hour. So, God knows where it thinks it is. So, all I’m doing is following the uh the blue and white Wild Atlantic Way signs, which you know, you’d think would be quite straightforward. Just keep the uh keep the sea on your left hand side surely, but uh yeah, it’s not uh doesn’t seem to be that straightforward, at least to me. But then I am a navigation idiot. So we’ll see what we do. So again, still to make a U-turn. Satma says turn right. And I’m just going to keep following the road ahead until I see another blue and white sign. What could be easier? And it’s raining. Beautiful. And I got a Honda Jazz in front. Not my finest hour. always give you the uh the good and bad of these trips. So, it’s been a really really frustrating afternoon actually with regards to navigation. I’ve had Garmin saying one thing. I’ve had Calimoto on the phone saying another. I’ve had Bluetooth not working. I’ve had my own reading of road signs sometimes not working. Now, we’re stopping in a camper van. But hey, look on the positive side. We are still going in the right direction and we are going north. Okay, so I reckon we got a probably a couple of hours to do. There are a couple of places I want to stop at as well if I can find them. That’s cool. Just coming into the town of Kilibbegs, which looks uh pretty bustling, proper harbor and everything. And I’m trying to uh just find my B&B, which the way my satnavs have been could be anything. Could be anywhere really. So, we’re just going to uh find our bearings a little bit. What we’ve done so far, 339 km, 5 and 1/2 hours in the saddle. This is quite nice, isn’t it? No. No. Not lost again. No. No. No. Not me. Not me. I meant this either a lane or somebody’s driveway. Not sure. Why do you do this to yourself? That’s Oh, here comes the rain. Perfect. Apparently, I’ve gone past it. So it’s nearer Kilibbeex than where we are now. Where we at now? Anybody want to buy a Garmin? Going cheap or going in the bin? I think uh new tactics for tomorrow. I’m thinking I’m just going to put individual places in that I want to visit rather than try and do the whole route all in one go as a as a route on the satnav because it’s clearly not working very well. Still, you wouldn’t get to see little things like this, would you? Look at that little hut house. Cool. All right. So, we’re 1k from the BFB. I think I might have screwed up here. don’t appear to be any sort of uh pubs, restaurants, etc. I mean, it’s beautiful around here, but we are, it would seem, in the middle of nowhere. Anyhow, we’ll get uh we’ll get unpacked and see what’s what. Might be a case of riding back out later. It’s around here somewhere. Looking behind. Could be this one. Yep. Better breakfast. Here we are. [Music] [Music] Heat. Hey, Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Friday morning, which I think is my day five riding. Um, a little bit drizzly at the moment, but the forecast looks okay for later. Uh, another good stay, another good B&B, unfortunately. Well, it’s beautiful, but just in the middle of nowhere, had to uh get on the bike again last night to go and get some some food and drink. Uh, new tactic today. I’ve planned the whole route straight onto the garden, so no transferring or nothing like that. And we’ll see if that works any better. Uh, but I’m not uh not feeling confident to be brutally honest. So, today should see some really nice tourist attractions, some good roads, and uh tonight we finish in Derry or London Derry and uh that’ll be that. Okay, so we’re on our way to the Sleeve Lag viewpoint. Weather is a little bit clearer. So, we’re going to actually see something in this one. Roads are lovely. It’s like a big roller coaster. So lovely to drive. Right. Tiger 900’s just lapping it up. That’s Very very windy though. Hi there. You okay? You can take your bike on up to the top. Uh I was going to take the bike. Yeah, you can bring it up on top. You pay5. Is it? Yeah. Okay. All right. So, you just pull on here. You pay me. It’s card. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. €5 to uh in a couple of miles, mind you. Look at them. Yes. proper game of throat stuff. Ships morning. Holy dude, look at us. They’re out of the way. Right, let’s take some pictures. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] ah ah [Music] aha. [Music] Okay, this is uh Silver Strand Beach the way point. People have perhaps stayed here overnight. Let’s have a little look. Beautiful. Reminds me a little bit of the uh the cam beach went to the other day. Do I fancy walking down there? Not particularly. This is beautiful though. Let’s get a picture. So, we’re on our way down to the Asaranka waterfall. This is not actually, I don’t think, officially the Wild 90 Way route. So, just a route that uh I plotted myself. But wow, look at that. Got to be careful down here with all the uh gravel, etc. Somewhere you want to get it wrong. Sure. What is this? All these people thought before this became wild way, they didn’t have too much traffic down here. All the uh B&B owners that I spoke to said it’s been really really good, really positive since it uh came about. [Music] Wow, look at that. Beautiful. Nice and steady so we can see everything. Excellent. Nice bit of bridge action. Who doesn’t like a bridge? Okay, so we’re here to see FAD Head Lighthouse. You can just see on the left there. Wouldn’t be a coastal roots without a lighthouse visit, would it? Be nice if there was a coffee shop next to it. I bet there isn’t little trailer perhaps. No doubt it Ouch. fan and head protecting the Irish coastline and passing ships during World War I. So when it became the main Atlantic base of the Allied fleet fad point and guarded its entrance. It’s what 10 2 been on the road since 9:00 this morning. Time for a coffee and a sandwich. Yes. So, now we’re on the final stretch of the day down to Derry or London Derry where we’ve got another B&B booked. Uh let’s get some fuel as well. But we’re just over an hour away. just uh battling through this horrendous Friday afternoon traffic. So, I’ll switch back on when uh we get towards Derry.
