Hey friends — looking to rebuild the drivetrain with a 1×7 setup (open to others too but wanna keep simple) and maybe keep an original friction shifter. Issue is the hub is the threaded Suntour Cyclone and it has become stripped — when I hammer on the pedals the freewheel dislodges / cross threads — as they tend to do after 40 years. Would also like to put some thicker tires on this beast — maybe 32mm. Lots of ways to do this but looking for to keep under $250-$300 and build something stout that’ll take a beating. Also need to replace the crank arms. 🙂 Used as a daily commuter + may do some light touring with it in the future. Got some ideas but know you’ll have some great input.
