After a few weeks of tinkering after the kids are in bed I finally got my ‘84 Gentsracer back on the road. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Rides amazing and I managed to mostly keep the vintage look.
I completely disassembled it to remove rust, partial re-paint and clear coat, fit a new BB and clean the rest of the parts. Brakes and drivetrain are still original.
In the end I took a 90’s Mavic Open 4CD wheelset off a bike I got cheap so I could use modern cassettes easily. I prefer the silver look of the original wheels but they had a 6-Speed uniglide 13-22 cassette and I live on top of a big hill. Maybe one day I’ll take the effort to convert the hubs but for now this is it.
