This video provides an educational breakdown and vocal analysis of “How It’s Done” from Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters. Sung by EJAE (as Rumi’s singing voice), Audrey Nuna (as Mira), and Rei Ami (as Zoey), this track introduces the fictional K-pop group Huntr/x as fierce demon hunters. Backed by the voices of Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo in the film, the combination of speaking and singing creates a seamless mix of storytelling and performance.

The track blends sharp rap delivery, low-range unity, and soaring mix vocals that capture both the discipline and power of the Demon Hunters. From precise rap flicks that sound effortlessly cool, to chest voice sections that unify the group like an unstoppable army, every vocal choice reflects the Netflix film’s theme of teamwork and strength. When Golden-voiced EJAE climbs up to a high A, her lowered larynx and wide resonance keep the sound commanding, showing how K-pop technique adapts for cinematic storytelling.

🎙️ In this video you will learn:
🎤 Rap Precision: Why clipped, contained phrasing sounds lethal and confident.
💨 Dark L Sounds: How subtle consonant shifts add depth and grit.
🎶 Vocal Unity: How chest voice layers create the illusion of one unstoppable voice.
🎭 Mix Clarity: How EJAE keeps high notes light but powerful.
🧠 Storytelling Through Vocals: How each sound choice matches the Demon Hunters’ characters and battles.

💥 For Fans Of:
K-Pop Demon Hunters, Netflix soundtracks, EJAE, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, BTS, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, TXT, aespa, and cinematic K-pop music

💬 “How It’s Done” isn’t just a soundtrack song, it’s the anthem that defines Huntr/x’s power and identity. Do you think this is the standout track of K-Pop Demon Hunters? Let me know in the comments!

– “How It’s Done” is a
song that sets up HUNTR/X as the badass demon hunters that they are, and it’s a favorite of many of you. Go to the gear to turn on the
captions in your language, and let’s find out what
makes this track stand out. – Hi, Bobby!
– Why are you so late? – Late? – 50,000 fans are waiting for you. – HUNTR/X, HUNTR/X, HUNTR/X! ♪ You came at a bad time ♪ ♪ But you just crossed the line ♪ ♪ You wanna get wild ♪ ♪ Okay, I’ll show you wild ♪ ♪ Better come right, better luck tryin’ ♪ ♪ Gettin’ to our level ♪ – Love this.

But they are using some
really amazing tips and tricks to make them sound completely badass. First of all, they are
beating up some demons, and they’re sounding a
little bit nonchalant with these little flicks
at the ends of their raps. ♪ ‘Cause you might die ♪ ♪ Never the time ♪ ♪ Tryna start a battle ♪ ♪ Start a battle ♪ – All the raps are really,

to ramp up a little bit, they add this extra L sound in there, making it a little bit darker. ♪ And when you pull up, I’ll pull up ♪ ♪ A little late to the party ♪ – Instead of pull, space, up, they say pu, space, lup, and it allows them to hold
the L a little bit longer. In English, we have two types of Ls. We have a light L as in listen, luh. Our tongue flicks up
to the top of our mouth and goes back down, luh, luh, luh. But we also have a dark L, like pull lup. It’s just a little bit extra funky and gives a little bit more melody in a very, very rhythmic phrase. And I just love those la, la, la, las They’re fun. ♪ Ringing in your mind ♪ ♪ Better sit down for the show ♪ ♪ ‘Cause I’m gonna show you ♪ ♪ How it’s done, done, done ♪ ♪ Done ♪ – It’s so rooted in chest voice.

it could just be one voice, and that unity makes
them seem like an army, which is interesting because, well, if you haven’t seen it, I don’t wanna give you any spoilers, unity is a theme, though. – Let’s do this. ♪ Something about ♪ ♪ When you come for the crown ♪ ♪ That’s so humbling, huh ♪ ♪ Why are you acting like that all of a sudden? ♪ make it cute and savage ♪ ♪ Mirror, mirror on my phone ♪ ♪ Who’s the baddest ♪
♪ Us, hello ♪ – They’re all speaking and rapping in the lower parts of their range. And this is kinda interesting in life because there have been
quite a few studies in vocal range throughout the ages. Especially with women, there has been a wide variety
in how we choose to speak. In the 1950s, the median speaking range for women was a lot higher. This isn’t because of an
anatomical difference. This is a social difference in that speaking in the
lower part of your range can seem a little bit more authoritative. Now women are in positions of power. Our voices reflect that. ♪ Make it cute and savage ♪ ♪ Mirror, mirror on my phone ♪ ♪ Who’s the baddest ♪

Why does this still sound so big and full? “Golden” sounds so light and bright. This actually does go to that high A, it’s just really light in the mix. ♪ Ow ♪ First of all, in the lower part of it, she’s lowering her larynx, making her voice box go down a lot more than she does in “Golden.” So it has this dopier,
heavier sound to it. ♪ Til our song defeats the night ♪ ♪ Til our song defeats the night ♪ – It’s really heavy, open and big. As she raises up though… ♪ Making fear afraid to breathe ♪ ♪ Til the dark meets the light ♪ ♪ How it’s done, done, done ♪ – As she goes up though,
she does lighten it off, but she creates a massive space. Our animated figure here is showing us exactly how she’s doing it by almost creating a slight
half moon with her mouth. ♪ Night ♪ And what helps me is moving my lip here and wrinkling my nose up so I get a smaller space
between my nose and my lip. Because every little
bit of space – you can get inside your
mouth makes a huge difference when you are singing this high. I wanna be in HUNTR/X. ♪ Til the dark meets the light ♪ ♪ How it’s done, done, done ♪ ♪ Run, run ♪ – Her face is doing it.
♪ We run the town ♪ ♪ Whole world playin’ our sound ♪ ♪ Turnin’ up, it’s going down ♪ ♪ HUNTR/X, show this ♪ ♪ How it’s done, done, done ♪ – I love how they’re layering
in the audience with it so it feels like a complete army. They’re shouting it like… ♪ HUNTR/X, show this ♪ – HUNTR/X, show this! That is used in loads of pop. I know Little Mix have a song where they have that layered in like that, and it’s so empowering. ♪ Going down ♪ ♪ HUNTR/X, show this ♪ ♪ How it’s done, done, done ♪ ♪ We hunt you down, down, down, down ♪ ♪ We got you now, now, now, now ♪ ♪ We show you how, how, how ♪ ♪ HUNTR/X don’t miss ♪ – Ooh. That high note at the end. Woo! And then at the end, we get a little gentle
sprinkled in top D. ♪ Eeh, ow ♪ Sorry to my neighbors. What I love about “KPop
Demon Hunters” is the way that they mix story and sound. Every vocal is chosen to
express something in the story, and I’m just loving digging into all the layers of what they’re saying with each and every choice. If you like this, then you
might like some of these. Thank you for watching and I
will see you in the next one. Bye.

  2. They have the acappella versions of all songs on the streaming services, so you can use them when you want to isolate and analyze individual vocals.

  3. Sheesh, Beth here just casually popping up to that high note to illustrate it.

I kind of glossed over this song the first time I watched the movie. It's cool, but later songs grabbed my attention more. Now after watching it a few times I really like How It's Done. As an opening song for a concert, or movie, it really works well. It's just a banger.

  4. Audrey Nuna (the singing voice of Mira) mentioned how that "Fit check for my napalm era" line took dozens of takes to get just the right level of sass and attitude.

  5. It’s actually one of the most effective opening sequence-to-title card sequences I’ve experienced in a motion picture in a long time. Almost everybody I know who goes in to see what this preposterously-titled film is all about was entering as one of the SKEPTICS…only to make it through the first 10 minutes to where the title card hits, completely BOUGHT-IN.

The opening completely immerses you in the world of a Huntrix fan. Then hits you with the intros to the historic “good vs evil” struggle. Whike you get intros each of the girls are flawlessly delivered. (The “Met Gala” and “…a place called BURBANK…” jokes are really funny quick hitters that you don’t see coming, and the “carb-loading” think immediately hammers home the protagonist’s goofier side, so you identify with them quicker.) Then, it gives you a full-blown music video with an AWESOME MUSICAL PRODUCTION AND PERFORMANCE (something that becomes one of the signature “hooks” in the movie,) while presenting a bold-looking action sequence WITH JOKES. (The running visual joke of the ramyeon struggle that is told throughout is really well-done, as it shows how powerful these girls are up against normal demons, that even while fighting them, they can be seemingly more distracted by a cup of noodles, even after the jet is destroyed…)

I can think of few films that invite you into the world they are presenting this effectively. The directors knew they had to sell the movie right away, and they pulled it off extremely well. There were a lot of boxes to check and they delivered on every one. Film school classes will be talking about this. It’s probably my favorite musical-based movie openings since “Stop Making Sense,” or maybe “Boogie Nights,” and all three of these movies couldn’t be more different.

  6. The Rumi outfit suits you, Beth! Halloween costume sorted!

(Also: your manual dual-language captioning of the overlays on tracks that aren't English-only is awesome. Even though I'm not the target audience, I love the extra effort you put in to make your analysis accessible and respectful!)

  7. You should react to the song Requiem from Dear Evan Hansen! The vocals are really cool and it would be nice if I could see you react to one of my favorite songs. Love your vids! ❤❤❤❤

  8. literally you take me a trans drama on the voise, i will be sound higth o lower? i'm spanish, i have a bad explain on my language imagine in other, instead
great vídeo, ty for it, i love you're content
    P.D.:it's only a personal reflexion

  9. Female voice pitch is fascinating across cultures. I read a paper comparing them 10 years ago. Sweden has the lowest average, and I think it was Japan has the highest average. But Japan is less patriarchal than, say, India. But the kawaii aesthetic encourages higher voices in public which are not always the same in private such as within a household.

  10. One thing I've heard others mention, that I really appreciate, is how the animations match what youd expect a real singer to do with their mouths as they sing. Shows the animators really went all in.

  11. Fun fact: EJAE has said in an interview that the singing section with the super high note had to be re-recorded while she was on vacation. So she had to do the recording in her airbnb in Japan, and afterward she heard some people outside saying "nani? nani??"
