Murren to Interlaken, 5,600′ downhill!
Started the morning in Grindelwald, and we biked to Zweilutschinen.
From there, we took the train to Lauterbrunnen, and stored our panniers in a locker at the train station. We took a Gondola, and a alpine train to Murren. Biked down from Murren, to Gimmelwald, to Lauterbrunnen, to Zweilutschinen, and all the way to Interlaken. It was amazing. 31 miles and 5,600 feet drop through all these cute Swiss towns, lakes, rivers, pastures… An epic ride. Got a little bit of rain. Had lunch at my favorite spot, Camping Jungfrau. So many trails and beautiful scenery.
All right, welcome to day four. We are leaving Grenovald and we are biking to Zut Shinan where we take the train up to Miren and we’re going to bike down from Muran to Gimald to La Brunan and all the way to Interlockan today. Woohoo. So hopefully it’s mostly downhill, but you never know. We crushed that. So here’s the map. Part one is starting in Grenvald and ending in Silute Shannon. We’re looking at 1,700 feet of drop over eight miles. From there, we take a train to Mirin and we bike all the way to Interlockan. This section is 4,150 ft drop over 19 mi. The bus depot is right in front of our hotel. But today, we’re not taking the bus, we’re taking the scenic route. 2 miles away from our hotel is Glacier Canyon. We did this on a previous trip, but I wanted to share pictures. If you’re in the area, be sure to check this out. I got a little hill climb here. Got the mountains behind us. It’s all downhill. Morgan, it could not be any nicer. We are going to vien clock means slow. pretty trail. I don’t think this is considered the mountain bike trail, but No, it’s not. No, it’s too technical. We can just take the gondola down. This is where you don’t want to drop your phone. I do drop the ladder. Yeah, just jump in. I’ll meet you at the other end. I’ll meet you in interlock and I’ll take you fast. Cheers. Oh no. What is this? Uhoh. Am I going to make it? That was a good sprint. Lam bumped. Hello. Hello. Second thing. Yes. You want to go to Mirin? Murin. This is actually only by buses. Is it okay with the bike? Ask. They might because depends of the space which I’ll ask them and then buy a ticket or can I buy a ticket? Nobody cares about tickets. Just ask for the bus. Okay. that uh murine. Murine. Yes. Can we buy a ticket on There’s a ticket machine right in the front. You I saw you playing with the machine before. There’s a ticket machine right there. Okay. Okay. There was a problem with the trains, so they were using buses as temporary service. The bus took us to La Brunan where we were able to store our purser for the day. We bought our tickets from La Brunan to Mirren. The journey takes us first on a gondola and then a train. The sail bond gondola is right across the street from the La Brun and Bonhoff. The speed’s biking. We took the gondola all the way up to Groot Shelp where there’s an amazing view of the mountains. [Music] We got our bikes on the train and took it up to the top to Miran. Strap on. It’s going to be an epic ride from here down to Gimald down through the Louder Bruin Valley and we’re going to end up in Interlockan. Yeah, cuz you go inside. Everyone that gets off the train walks down this main street. But we found if we walk one street over, the street’s just as beautiful and there are no people on it. Fogging turn in hard rate. I thought it was funny. The sign has directions to Gimovald by walking or sliding. And I love how every window box has flowers in it. And I love the patina on these shutters. We started our bike trek today starting from Miran BLM. We biked through the town of Mirin and we’re on our way to Gimald right now. As you can see, we’ll have some nice steep views off the side of the mountain as we drop into the La Brunan Valley. We’re going to pass through La Brunan and all the way to Interlockan. The path we’re taking from Murren to La Brunan is the Swiss mountain bike trail 4550. It’s getting a little drizzly. We’re now leaving Miran on our way to Gimabald. It was pretty much raining this entire journey. And of course, I left my rain jacket in the locker back in Ladder. I guess the farmers have to drive their tractors on this road, too. Oh, they got a guardrail there so you don’t go over. Got another hair pin. We haven’t seen any signs for game evolved, but I think that’s where we’re at now. Oh, yeah. All right. So, this is where we’re going down to that valley all the way to Interlockan. The trail is getting quite steep here, so we did have to get off and walk a few sections. In case you’re wondering where we are, here’s an update. We are here just south of Gimald. Wow. So that’s the train in Miran that goes up the mountain. And this is where we’ve come. rain things are pretty intense here. Mystery door shaft. We’re just here in the middle of the forest. All the signs to La Brunan and Interlockan. I love that there’s so many bus stops in this valley. You really can get anywhere with your bike. There’s some World Heritage Site sign back there. It’s a little bus stop. Whenever we come to Lad Brunan, we always stay at Camping Young Fry. It’s right at the base of that waterfall, so it’s easy to find. And they have a nice restaurant where we’ll probably stop for lunch. Could be warmer, could be drier. I remember a vending machine being at this house. Oh, yeah. Let me see if it’s still there. Look at that. It’s still here. kind of slim pickings though. When we’ve come in the past, this vending machine’s always been stocked with drinks, dried fruit, regional cheeses, dried meats, and sausages. This is the vending machine at the ladder of Brun and Train Station, and it’s well stocked as well. You got your pregnancy tests, condoms, cannabis tea, Capri Sun, everything you need for a Swiss picnic. Here’s a quick update on the map showing where we’re at. We’re just passing Tremble back Falls. This is the vending machine. This is camping youngfra and there’s an alpaca farm that just opened up and downtown latchon. Here’s some pictures of Treble Falls. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. You don’t even have to take the stairs. There’s an elevator carved into the mountain to get you to the top. Make sure your brakes still work. [Music] and turn here. We passed by this church. This building is by Tremble Back Falls and we made our way to Camping Youngfra where we had lunch at their restaurant. We arrived soaking wet so it gave us a chance to warm up in the restaurant and enjoy some yummy food. The weather forecast generally always shows rain but it usually only lasts for an hour or two. By the time we were done with lunch, things had dried out and we continued our bike trip. La Brunan is one of the train stops where you can catch the cog rail to Youngfra. And you can see the tracks going up the hills here on the right side. This is the La Brunan train station on the right and the gondola that we took is on the left. For the rest of the way to Interlockan, we follow the river and the water is so cold that it kind of creates a fog layer above the river. Going under a aqueduct. That’s what happens when you have uh government healthc care, right? Yeah. They’re responsible for your health. If you get injured, it’s on their dime. So, make it safe. It’s val shining. A so we’re halfway to interlocking. I think the next stop’s interlocking east and then our hotel is about interlocking west. So we still got to go through interlocking up here. So, the blue squares are for road bikes and the yellow squares are for mountain biking. How was the ride today? It was pretty awesome. We saw eight waterfalls. Bikes are pretty good in the gravel. more than we expected for not having Yeah. We didn’t air down or anything. Yeah. We climbed 1,000 feet and dropped 5,500 feet. This is where all the paragliders come to land, but there’s none right now, but we’ve seen them after sunset. Overall, a fun, exciting day of effortless pedaling, really. We coasted pretty much all the way here. 26 milesi. And now we’re just eating our chocolate.

That's a great scenery. Thank you for the POV – felt like I was there!
I like the gravel path around 2:30.
