Today is a hard long day for me on a trike without motor. I have to climb a high mountain pass on my way from Oudtshoorn to Wilderness. Because of that, I decided to give part of my load to my mother. And that’s how I set off, a bit lighter, for a 40 km climb without motor.
First, I manage to take a shortcut through a gravel road, and then I break the long climb with a delicious famous pizza stop on the way to George.

(Oudtshoorn, South Africa) – Morning, my friends,
from Oudtshoorn. Oh, it’s a cold, very cold morning. Let’s go for the bad surprise
of the morning. Okay. It’s not working.
So let’s go, guys. [FR] Bye! – Bye! – See you tonight.
See you later. – [EN] Let’s go, guys! Let’s go, let’s go. It is freaking cold. As you see, I’m quite light
today. Let’s go, let’s go! Okay, so… So today,
you see, I’m very light because I have 85 km
to do today to Wilderness, with a big climb on the way. And with my full load, I would
probably not make it in one day. So, that’s why I gave
most of my weight. I just kept the vital things
for me with me, and I gave everything else
to my mother. So I can make it to Wilderness
today without too much trouble. 85 km, a 1,000-meter elevation gain. I’m gonna try a slight shortcut
at the beginning. Hopefully, I don’t get stuck
with a private property fence. And we go to Wilderness! Let’s go!
Hello to the ostriches. Bye-bye! Look at the ostriches! Afraid…
They’re scared of my tricycle. It’s funny how… Oh, look at that.
Let’s go have a look at them. So we are in the world capital
of ostriches, of course, here in “Oudtstroom”, Oudtshoorn. And apparently, my tricycle
looks very terrifying to them. Look at that!
They go completely nuts! Incredible! More ostriches. Hello! Oh, the view over a foggy Oudtshoorn,
“Audtshoorn”. And look at this place. I think that’s a guest house.
It’s really quite a wonder. Hello! Hello! Thylitshia Villa. What a place, also! Climax. Hello! Hello. More ostriches down there. And that’s Highgate Ostrich Farm, one of the big farms,
ostrich farms, of the region. Racing with ostriches! So that’s a guest house
with an ostrich view, apparently. Hello! Hello! – Hi! It’s fancy. It’s been a while since I had
somebody running after me. A kid with a hand saw. Interesting. With a big saw. So here, I have to go back
towards Oudtshoorn, and see if I can take a shortcut to rejoin the road
towards George and Wilderness. I think that’s the dirt road.
That looks good. So a quick update on my motor, guys. Yeah, I mean, AZUB
is being insanely helpful. Shimano South Africa
is being very helpful as well. I should have a new motor, not the same one
because mine is a bit old and they don’t
really sell it anymore. At least AZUB doesn’t sell it anymore
on their bikes, on their trikes. I should have a new motor
waiting for me in Plettenberg Bay. So on the Garden Route,
there’s a Shimano shop that should be able to try to put a new motor on my tricycle,
not the same one. So there’ll be some work involved.
But that’s great news, anyway. I’m glad I have the problem here because, at least here in South Africa,
the problem is solvable. In other countries, it would have been
probably much, much harder to solve it. So… Yeah. So thank you
to AZUB and Shimano! Shimano is being very helpful,
also, and AZUBβlike always. So I’m kind of very happy
because I should have a solution. So Plettenberg Bay.
Now I’m going to Wilderness. Then the next stage is gonna be
to Knysna and then Plettenberg Bay. So I have three stages without… One big stage, two small stages
without the motor. And then, hopefully… And I should have a new motor
to go back to Europe. That sounds awesome!
Let’s see how it pans out. Let’s go to Wilderness, guys! Yes. I was having a bit of wheel spin. Ah, nice! So now it should be climbing
for, I don’t know, maybe 40 km, before a long downhill to Wilderness. – You’re good? – Hello!
I’m good, I’m good! – Good for you. Where are you
going? – Wilderness today. – Where? – Wilderness. – Wilderness.
You’re coming from where now? – Just from a farm down there.
– Okay, shap shap. – Shap shap. – Thank you! – Bye-bye!
– Have a good day! – Shap! – And I’m back on the main road!
The shortcut worked. Let’s go to Wilderness! I’ve got a big follower. And you can see that the follower
has passengers on the roof. There’s quite a big traffic jam now. WildX Adventures. Oh man, I can feel that I’m back
on the road now. I’ve lost my voice by shouting at someone
who tried to kill me. Oh my god, it’s so painful
to scream that loudly. It’s quite funny because actually,
I realized that with or without the motor, I always make the same effort. The only difference is that I go
slower without the motor. But in the end, I just do… Physically,
I just make the exact same effort. Well, I manage my effort in the same way. Hello! – How are you? – Good. How are you?
– Good! I’ve been watching you on YouTube. – Nice. – When I came past this way,
I thought, “Hey, can it be you?” – Yeah, yeah, yeah. I look a bit different.
– Now you’re coming this way. – Because I have fewer bags. Yeah.
– Okay, yeah. Good to see you, man. – Nice to see you, too. – I’m Ryan.
– Yves. – Yves, nice to meet you. Yeah. – Nice to meet you, too.
How’s the journey going? – Yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah. My motor
is broken. So that’s why… – Oh, is it? – …I’m a bit lighter. – No!
Yo, there are lots of hills. Yeah. – Yeah, yeah, yeah. Without
the motor, it’s a bit long. But luckily, I have my mother
with me. So she has the… – Ah, okay. Okay. – …some of the bags.
– Okay, good. Where are you off to? – Today Wilderness. – Ah, Wilderness?
– Wilderness. Yeah, yeah. – Beautiful! – And then… – For the first time?
– For the first time, yeah. – Oh, lovely. – Okay. – Okay, I stay
past Wilderness, Sedgefield. – Then… Oh, you stay past Wilderness.
Yeah. – Yeah, I stay in Sedgefield. – Okay. – Just before Knysna.
– Before Knysna? Okay. Okay. – Yes, yes, yeah. – I’m gonna stay
in Knysna as well. – Okay. Okay, nice. Oh, excellent, man! – So you live
in a beautiful place, I guess. – Yeah, yeah, it is beautiful.
– Well, I’ve never been there. But I heard the Garden Route
is… – I love it here. Yeah. Now, I’ve been living there forβ
what?β20 years, 25 years. – Nice. – Best place for me. Love it! – Nice.
Awesome! – Can I get a photo? – Yeah, of course! Yeah, no worries.
– Awesome! My wife and kids, they’re never gonna believe
I’m seeing you. – Yeah, I guess. Yeah. – Yeah, we’ve been watching on YouTube.
Not every one, but we’ve been watching… – Yeah, yeah, some of them. – Oh, awesome, man. Lovely!
– Nice! – Thank you! Sorry to stop you. I know you are on a mission.
– It’s okay. No worries. It’s nice of you to have stopped
at the top of the hill. – Yeah. I thought so. – Yeah, yeah. – When
I saw you, I thought, “No shame.” If I stop there,
then you gotta start again. – It’s better than halfway through the hill.
– Yeah, yeah. – Yeah. – All the best! – Thank you very much! Yeah.
– Safe travels! – Thank you! Good luck to you, too!
– I’ll keep watching. – Thanks! – You don’t want a lift there?
You must ride? – Ah? – You don’t want a lift? – No, no,
it’s okay, it’s okay. I’ll be fine. Thank you! – Okay. – I was thinking, “Maybe, nobody’s gonna stop
today because nobody… Without my bags, suddenly
nobody recognizes me,” but… No. My god, what a day! Yeah, I’m probably
like 10 or 15k from my lunch break. It’s already half past 12. But I’m doing… I’m just slow,
but I’m doing quite well so far. I think that my pump… I forgot
my pump in case of a puncture. I think my pump has arrived. [FR] All good? – It’s climbing.
– It’s climbing, yeah. – Holy sh*t! You know what?
You give me your laptop and all. And I’ll go straight
to the accommodation. – No, no, no. No need. – You’ll stop to eat? – 4 hours for 40 km. Yeah. I’ll stop 10 km from here.
– Okay. – The second one. My mother seems to have good vibes
because… Look, she is still here. I’ve got the error that you get when you press the pedals
when you start the motor. I was not pressing the pedals
when I started the motor, but the E010 did not come up this time. And the W013 error doesn’t prevent the… Well, no. There is no assistance.
Well, there is no assistance. This one is not supposed to prevent
the assistance from being provided. So now, I’ve got a working screen
but no assistance provided still. Hello! – So you did not store it. – Ah?
– So you did not store your bike. – No. – You said you were gonna store your bike.
– Ah, store? No, I stored it. Yeah. – Oh, is it? – Yeah, yeah,
but because there is some delay. So… – My name is Pierre. I’m so…
– Pierre? – So good to meet you, man. – Nice to meet you.
– We went through to Oudtshoorn. And I said, “I’m so sure it’s you, man.”
I wasn’t sure because I saw you… – Yeah, because I… – …in Agulhas.
That’s the latest one that I saw. – Yeah, yeah, yeah. – How are you doing?
Are you good? – Very good. Yeah, yeah. – Enjoying it still? – Yeah, yeah.
– Awesome! We’re from George. Can I take a selfie with you? Is it good?
– Okay, nice! Sure, yeah. Yeah, yeah. – Man, this is awesome. So every time that someone
saw you, I thought to myself, “I’m not sure if I’m
ever gonna see you,” so… – Yeah, I mean, I guess most
people never end up seeing me. – So here we go. Sorry. What are
your plans now? I saw you do… – To do the Garden Route. And then
towards Lesotho, Mozambique. – There you go. Awesome,
man. Thank you so much! – You’re welcome!
– I really enjoyed the whole trip. It was amazing to see it. – Yeah,
it’s quite an adventure. Yeah. – It is. That’s amazing. So,
are you going back up? Have you made the decision to…?
– Yeah, yeah. I’m going back up. Yeah, yeah. I’m restarting.
I restarted from Swellendam. – Okay. And as I came past, I saw
your lipsβand I knew it was you. Great to see you. Enjoy!
– Nice meeting you! Yeah. – Nice to meet you.
– Good luck to you! A nice, small rest. What do they have here? Pies.
I’m gonna go to the next one. The US, Russia, Morocco,
Venezuela, Argentina, South Africa. Come on, let’s turn to George. Let’s go! – Continue… – 25 to George. – It’s really you. – Yes, it’s me!
– I’m so glad to meet you. – Yeah. – We follow every YouTube video.
– Nice! – It’s so… I went past you and… But my wife said, “No, it looks different.” – Yeah, because I don’t have all my load
because my motor is broken. – Is it? Are you going to George? – To Wilderness.
Wilderness. – Wilderness? – Yeah. – Oh, it’s a pity. I didn’t know. I live in Victoria Bay, but we’re going
to our property in Prince Albert. – Okay. – Do you know where to go
for somebody to…? – Yeah, yeah. It’s okay. It’s in the process.
I’ll get it fixed in Plettenberg Bay. – Is it? If you don’t, come right…
Can I give you my cell number? Because I have a factory,
everything in George? – Ah, okay. If you want. Yeah.
– I’ll take yours. And then… – Okay. – If you struggle, I can create the parts
for you as well. – My mother is with me. So she’s helping me with the weight.
– Is it? – That’s why. Yeah, yeah. – Are you okay? – Yeah, so I’m okay.
Yeah, yeah. Thank you very much, though! – You’re really an inspiration.
Have a safe journey! – Thank you! – Just be careful with the… – Yeah,
this road is a bit busy. Yeah. – Very busy. – I’ve noticed. Yeah. – But just take care.
– Thank you very much! – Good luck! Cheers! – Thank you! – And you.
– Thank you very much! I’m 1 km from lunch. That was a quick stop.
Oh, they made the detour to come to see me. Come on! So there is one farm stall
here and one over there. But this one is for pizza. Lekkerrrβ¦
Biltong. [FR] Ah, here you are! – You don’t stop?! Did you eat?
– Here I had a delicious pizza. – Ah, it was good? – They say
it’s the best pizza in South Africa. – Really? – It’s really good.
– Was it fast? – Very fast. – Great, I’ll stop here. – Very,
very fast. And they’re very kind. – But it’s weird… – You don’t
want me to take your laptop? – [EN] It’s very weird, the… It’s very… There’s a lot of resistance
when I go backwards. Anyway. Hello. Hello! – Here you are now.
Hello. – Hello! – Can I help you? – Yes, can I get a 3 Meatie pizza?
– 3 Meatie pizza. Will that be all? – Ah? – Will that be all? – Do you have
sparkling water? – You buy that next door. – I buy that next door. Okay. – Yeah,
then. So it’sβ¦ – So that will be all, yeah. – β¦145. Yes, can I pay by card? – Yes.
Okay, there you are. Thank you very much! – Thank you! – So
I will bring it to the table. – You’ll bring it
to the table. – Thank you! – Thank you
very much! – Thank you! – Hello there! – Hi. Hello! – Hello! 16. – Have a good day! – Receipt? – No,
it’s okay. – Thank you! – Thank you. – So I’m gonna have
a Meatie pizza because I’m hungry. So I need something sustaining. And I’m gonna be
accompanied, apparently. So my mother approved of the pizza. It’s good to have someone
to try before the restaurant. Happy? – Happy. [FR] Very good pizza.
– [EN] Very good pizza. …very much! – Thank you! – Too fast.
Look at this beautiful pizza. And this beautiful place. Look at that! With the bicycle, the tricycle,
and the beautiful mountains around. Quite a lovely stop between Oudtshoorn
and George. – β¦so far. – That’s good. It’s good and fast.
That’s very important. – [FR] You see, the dough
is good. – It’s good, yeah. Very good. Ah, it’s good to eat. It’s definitely one of the best pizzas
I’ve had in Africa. Thin, crusty dough. Very nice. – Hey! – Hey! – Thank you! – Yo,
and all the best! – Thank you very much! Yeah. – All the best for…
You’re going now to Plettenberg Bay? – Yeah, towards Plettenberg Bay,
then Port Elizabeth, then Lesotho, Mozambique, and… – Lesotho, Mozambique? – And then
back up via West Africa this time. I came back down East Africa.
So I’m gonna go back up via West. – And you have no problems. – I had a few problems. Yeah,
but the problems… – No like a… – …can be solved. – β¦of fevers. – No,
I didn’t… Somehow, I didn’t get malaria. No. No. Somehow. – No sicknesses,
nothing? You were healthy. – Yeah. I mean, when you cycle… – Yeah.
– …it boosts your immunity, so it’s… – Tell meβ¦ – …harder to get sick.
– Yeah. And you sleep in hotels? – Most of the time, in hotels.
Sometimes, I have… Well, now I don’t have it
because… My motor is broken. I have assistance. But now,
my motor is broken. But… – Your motor is broken? – Yeah. So my mother… Because she’s following me.
I’m lucky she’s here now. – Yeah. Okay. – So she’s got some of my weight. Nice meeting you! Thank you
very much! – All the best, all the best! – Your pizza is very good. Yeah.
– What’s your name? – Thank youβ¦ – Yves. – Yves? – Yes.
– Okay, Yves. I will watch. I will see if I can follow you
somewhere. – Oh yeah. – It’s Kino Yves on YouTube
if you want. – Kino Yves. – K-I-N-O. – Kino. – Kino Yves? – Yves.
Yves is Y-V-E-S. – Yes. Yeah. – It’s a French name. Yeah.
So it’s Kino Yves. – Kino Yves. – Yes, “Kino”, space, “Y”β¦ – Okay.
– Space “Yves”. – We will do that! – Awesome. Thank you very much!
– Thank you! – Your food was awesome. – You’ve got a bit of a ride up.
– Yeah, there is still a bit of way up. – Then it’s going… Yeah. – And then
it’s gonna be down all the way. Then it’s gonna be “yoohoo!” – Yeah,
you can relax and just close your eyes. – Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. – Okay!
– Thank you very much! Yeah. – Bye-bye to you now! – Thank you!
– [FR] Good luck, good luck! – Thank you very much! [EN] Bye-bye.
– Sorry, you say your YouTube channel? – Kino Yves. – Kino? – K-I-N-O.
– I’ll have a look. – Yeah. – Enjoy your trip! – Thank you
very much! Yeah. Enjoy your lunch! – From… You’re from France?
– From France. Yeah, yeah. – West coast or…? – North, north,
north. North. Kind of the north, yeah. – And which way did you come down? – I came down across Europe,
the Middle East, then East Africa. – Enjoy! – Amazing! – Thank you
very much! Yeah. – Yeah. – Yeah. – Ride well! – Thank you! Bye-bye! – Bye! – Thank you! – Thank you.
– Bye-bye! – Bye-bye! – Just seeing the happiness
of the people on the way is definitely worth all the pain. I never thought I would bring
that much happiness to people. Let’s see if it starts. I’m still
hopeful. I’m always hopeful. The E010 is back now. So let’s go,
guys. 300 meters left to climb. I love it. I’m so happy. It’s funny. I didn’t stay long in Ronnie’s
Sex Shop, but let’s go, baby! I love this one. Okay, 35 km left. No motor still.
300 meters to climb to the pass. And then it’s gonna be “let’s go, baby!”
downhill all the way to Wilderness. Yeah. – Hey! – Hi, hi! – Hello, hello! – Hey! – Wow, nice! I’ve been following you
since you started. – Nice! Hi! – Wow, wow! Good to see you!
– Good to see you, too! – Wow! – Nice! – I once mentioned it this morning
like, “What if we meet him today?” – Oh, yeah! – Yeah, yeah, yes!
– Exactly! It is our day. – Take a picture. Quick, quick. – You’re lucky then.
Yeah. – We always wanted to meet you. – Yeah. – You passed
through the West Coast. – Yeah. – We live in Blouberg. – You live
in? – In Blouberg. – Ah, okay. On the West Coast? – Yes, yeah. – Okay. Somehow, you managed to see me
far away from your home. – Yeah, just going on the holidays.
– Awesome! – Yeah, that’s far fromβ¦ – Okay, have a nice day! – Yeah, exactly!
– Awesome! – Wow, it’s good to see you. – Good to see you, too.
Yeah. – Yeah. – Have a safe trip! – Thank you very much! Yeah. – All right. – Have a good day! Enjoy!
– Yeah, thank you! That was… – Nice meeting you! – Yeah, yeah. – Yeah, I’m happy. I have
no motor, but I’m happy. What a place! (to be continued)

Welcome π
I hope you will braai on national braai day!
And your mom is super cute!
If more oder, SA could be the best and most advanced in Africa. Violence and corruption over shadows the good.
You should get the rayban meta glasses to add to your cameras..
Not the best pizza anymore? Not getting enough views?
Why is your mother policing you?
Time stamp of this so called saw chase….
What the hell!! Click bait hard that is ridiculous…. Unsubbed
Good to see Kino enjoying life in SA with his mom β€
The βchaseβ is a click bait. I was surprised that South Africans would actually do that.
Im big follower before u get to knysna pop in at backwaters river lodge for pizza
South Africa is full of whites people π’πmy GOD….
Just back from touring France on my motorbike The French are really nice people but man do they like to stare it's not rudeness I believe their just a very open curious people
14:20 you are very patient but it most be very annoying ruining your rhythm to have increasing numbers of people stopping you for a hero chat
Another super video Yves. Looking forward to traveling that road one day⦠our direction of traveling aways takes us on other roads⦠but will try that one after this video.
These folk were so very lucky- to meet you- we looked for you for ages and then when we discovered the delay was so long we realised it was hopeless.
One wonder where you actually are right now? Safe travels brother β¦
Perhaps change the title of the video, yes he was following, but only out of interest end enthusiasm. β€
I changed my like to a dislike because you changed the title. from the best Pizza…. to Chased with a saw…. I expect a comment like that from a paranoid white person, not from you. I'm sure you have enough followers and don't need a sensational click-bait title like this.
Come to Pretoria.
SAPS, you have a photo of the culprit. What are you going to do about it???
The love the South Africans have for you is incredible!
For the first time your headline is Misleading and very unnecessary….the kid is just holding a saw he's going to use cut wood
Use a car as much safer if in trouble to get away. That open electric bicycle rides are painful for your body with long rides like this. Stay safe. Courage.
I think it is good to see you riding without such a load on the Tricycle
Kenyans i know we are here…π°πͺ
Yves, please remove @mapoposo512 who left a nasty comment about 2 hours ago. He's disrespectful towards you and women. I just feel it's the right thing to do.
Yr cycle has changed sound π’π’Safe one ahead YvesππΏπ¦
You are putting south africa in bad light. The kid was chopping wood and excited to see you. Stop being wimp
sad and disappointed by the click bait
That place has the best pizza π l also love to stop there for lunch
Were you really chased with a saw really?
Nobody tried to kill you, Yves. That kid was interested in your tricycle and running along with you. He had zero malice in him.
PLEASA STOP EATING βοΈ ON CAMERA!! THANK YOU!! YOU'RE CHOMPING SOUNDS TERRIBLE!!
The mom looks young and could be his wifeβ¦.
Thankyou so much π
Just shows you how much the electric motor helps you,,,so you're not really cycling really
Yves and food πππ
